Priscilla, your enthusiasm and sheer joy in this video is what I needed today. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait for the book(s!), and the trailer is fantastic, but your energy in this Q&A is helping my soul right now.
Priscilla: ignore all nasty remarks about the trailer. It was EXQUISITE and tantalizing! As Jim Butcher noted, these are hard times and we need good entertainment. Everyone who contributed to the trailer deserves a standing ovation. With all of us standing in our own homes, of course. Thank you so much for the magnificent trailer, thanks to Jim for the joy of TWO Dresden books to comfort and entertain (and torment) us this year, and thanks to James Marsters because he does the audio books beautifully. I'm working on a fantasy trilogy that bears no resemblance to Dresden, but I am inspired by Butcher. I admire his wordsmithing, his carefully crafted magic system, the way he mixes comedy and tragedy and romance and OMFG you did NOT just do that mind-boggling heart-wrenching plot twist I never saw coming which was delicately foreshadowed for the last several books and...well, I'm just in love with the Dresden-verse. Thank you all for your hard work and talent.

Black Sunday (1975) Red Dragon (1981) The Silence of the Lambs (1988) Hannibal (1999) Hannibal Rising (2006) Cari Mora (2019) Note the huge gap in time between them. All but the last are movies at that. I didn't know about that one. A long between novels is not unheard off. It does not make them former writers.

Hearing jim describe will smith as a big influence on Harry immediately changed my fantasy casting model I don’t care that he doesn’t look like the character he would be sooo good in that role
2020 is turning out to be a terrible year, scared witless with current events...but watching that trailer and finding out were getting 2 dresden books this year, really cheered me up...in a weird way it gave me hope that everything will be ok Thank you Priscilla for that awesome trailer, I vote for a movie adaption next And to Jim, thank you for bringing some light into the darkness

We named our dog Odin because he has a dark patch over one of his eyes, but for the first few weeks I wanted to change it to Fenris because no cage could hold him. He was a rescue, and had major separation anxiety at the time, so he would tear up the house when we weren't home unless we put him in a cage, in which case he would do his best to tear up the cage.

We have waited a long time (so it seems) for the follow-on and two in one year is Xmas 2020 earlier! The trailer is fantastic and I agree that a return to the screen (big or small) would be phenomenal! Looking for some non-stop action in the Dresden universe!
I knew there was a reason why I still see Valerie Cruz's face when I picture Murphy. In addition to being a great actor, and well chosen for that part, she actually read the book(s) and took on that mix of credulity and exasperation Murph has with Harry. While I have your attention, if I do, a singular detail from the TV show Murphy that I've always liked, and was always curious about is that pendant necklace she wore. She admits it a gift from her daughter. I've always wondered why that necklace, if there was some explanation for why some costumer or production person chose it. I don't even know if anyone could remember why, if indeed there is some reason for it.
@@jdlofton1348 Whatever problems the TV show had, it also had some really good actors. Shout outs also to Terrence Mann as Bob, and Conrad Coates as Morgan. Very different from their book versions, of course, but they played their roles well.
@@antonbrakhage490 I agree wholeheartedly. Any time I read the books, Terrence Mann's voice is that of Bob. If a full length feature film or another series ever comes along I'd want him to voice Bob. I had forgotten about Mr Coates as Morgan. Again, good comment.
Please let Jim know as a fan I’m totally fine with a $50 book as long as it’s awesome. Also hardcover doesn’t hold much sway anymore. Soonest release is best, i.e. e-book format as soon as editing is complete. Timed releases should be obsolete. My opinion only, everyone has their own.
Why can't Penguin books just make Peace Talks and Battleground into e-books and release then as Jim wanted, then release the hardcovers later for those who want to collect them? Is there a substantial price difference?

Alternate universe - such a TROPE. It's usually not done terribly well. I do look forward to seeing Jim's spin on it, but still nervous. With an employee base of 400,000, there's a nice potential audience there (though I'm sure many of them already know about the books).

The two trailers were made by completely different teams. The Dresden Files Fan Filming crew (DF3) are based in Colorado, whereas my production company, Industriosa Pictures, is based in Los Angeles.

Alan Tudyk is a better fit as the voice of Bob, IMHO. either him or John Cleese.

Ms Cruz's face is the one I see when reading about Murphy. Would be hard for someone to supplant that in my mind.

Have to ask, as much as I enjoyed the trailer, what happened to the actors from the last trailers? I loved them too.
The two trailers were made by completely different teams. The Dresden Files Fan Filming crew (DF3) are based in Colorado, whereas my production company, Industriosa Pictures, is based in Los Angeles.
