Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys described his experience of hearing this song for the first time, blaring out of his car's radio. He had to pull over to finish hearing it and said, he literally had his mind blown. He continued saying, he realized at that very moment he had listened to the greatest pop song ever recorded. He spent the rest of his life chasing that moment, to the point of obsession. I'm talking about the Ronnette's version, of course.

I think Don't worry baby is an attempt by Brian Wilson at recreating that song. To be honest I like Don't worry baby more.

I heard the same story about Brian Wilson except it was for when he first heard "Strawberry Fields Forever" on the radio. Either one of both of these stories are false or he was pulling over a lot when he heard a good song on the radio.
@@purplehaze1274I also read it was Strawberry Fields.. considering the times, and psychedelia in full effect, Strawberry seems more logical as it was a new, different sounding Beatles.. then Wilson, as he was also trying to work out a similar psychedelic sound says to his passenger, "nevermind, it's already done"(not exact words, but along those lines)

Sorry folks, I'm a Beatles fan from way back, the first movie I went to without a parent or older sibling was "A Hard Day's Night,' and the first album I bought with my own money was Beatles '65 ($1.99 for mono; $2.49 in stereo), but you know what, this version of JL doing this song is ... to be polite, 'uninspiring.' More succinctly, crap.
@@JS-fd6jd Phil Spector wasn’t involved with ‘Double Fantasy’ but did produce records with Yoko that are actually phenomenal. This vocal isn’t good because John was drunk and couldn’t deliver vocally. Phil Spector, John and Yoko produced his albums from ‘Plastic Ono Band’ to ‘Sometime in New York City’ and Spector co-produced “Rock n’ Roll” with John too.

Lennon wasn’t joking. He was a massive fan of early sixties girl groups. Go back to the Beatles first album, they covered Boys, Chains and Baby It’s You. Three girl group covers on a single album. He didn’t hire Phil Spector for nothing

Spector did his part on this, but John got too loaded to do it justice. No mystery why this didn't make it onto the album.

Honestly this isn't very good. Just because it's John Lennon doesn't mean you have to say it's amazing by default. If your friend made this and showed it to you you'd be like "ehh not bad". Insert John Lennons name and everyone worships it. Just my opinion.
In fact, John's complete Rock&Roll album was not well received, and he himself said that he did it to compensate for a lawsuit for plagiarism of another song... which I don't remember now... the mix that is heard is about recordings that were stolen and marketed without final editing, that's why it sounds so bad...👍

Well be that as it may;This was just a ‘take’ from one of the many sessions (1-2year long) and was in fact one of the unfortunately craziest recording sessions to ever be.
Another tidbit is John and everyone there was drunk and at times high.(The ‘Rock n’ Roll Sessions’-John Lennon & Phil Spector)
To me I still find it beautiful nonetheless.
He can not do it. There is no swing and no dynamics to be heard. A pity. He was very limited outside of his little cosmos.
He could have done a great vocal on it if he hadn't got too wasted to perform.
