How To Open Launchpad Project Files - 'Media Files Missing' SOLVED

- When you’ve downloaded a Launchpad project file from RUclips, it’s possible to get a series of error messages that prevent you from using the project file how you intended to. These include ‘media files missing’, or can be the fact that the lights aren’t working in your light show.
Either way, it’s very frustrating! In this video, I’m going to take you through exactly how to configure your Launchpad to get up and running with these projects.

Hey man, thanks very much! It depends on the project and which version it was made in (commonly Suite), I would recommend getting the trail version of Live Suite.

Those project files needs specific launchpad ? for example if I have launchpad mini mk2 but the video I saw was played with pro, so can that project file works for mini also?

John, having trouble loading a project file. This would be “Alone.rar” by Marshmello but the file was set up by Irox. When I load it I get the yellow box buffering then force closing, or from inside Ableton, I get error message saying it can’t open the file. The set doesn’t have any samples folder I noticed but people seem to be playing it fine on RUclips? Help please!

Hey there! So I bought myself a new Launchpad the mk2 one because i wanted some improvement from my Launchpad Mini. So I plugged it in and I cant really play the Project I've put in (Virus - Martin Garrix). The problem is I cant change between the pages of the project, lights and sound work but not the pages... When I clicked on Midi in the top right corner there is not standing light show. Can you please help me I dont know what to do? :)

Good question, I'm not entirely sure. Lights are just MIDI so it may be that, or it may be something Max For Live related as he uses that.

Is this ALL still possible with ableton lite? I wan't to get the launchpad pro but i'm getting very conflicting opinions on whether you need to buy the full software or use the lite version that comes with the launchpad?
Good question - the short answer is no. Live Lite has track and scene limitations (only 8 of each), and use plug ins that are only available in higher versions of Live. You can get a free trial of Suite on Ableton's website here: www.ableton.com/en/trial/
Me again! How different are the mk1 generation launchpads to the mk2, mainly because they are cheaper I was wondering if the project files fare still compatible with the mk1 or whether I should just man up and buy a mk2 with ableton 9 live

Hi, I'm going to get My first launchpad soon and I have been told that the Novation launchpad S is a good one. Is it the same module as the
MK ll?
Because I cant find one thats called launchpad S only launchpad MK ll
The Launchpad S is great, it's an old one compared to the MKII though, which is why Novation don't sell the S anymore, but you may be able to find it online with a search. I would recommend the MKII.

How and were do you get all the sounds on your pads on the lanchpad and how do I get the sounds to ableton? PlEaSe answer?!!
It doesn’t let me go on user mode with happier by marsh mellows and bastille then when I do the rest of the steps like midi the sound doesn’t work or the lights and when I load up the project it says “set contains features unavailable in ableton 10 live lite Max Midi effect couldn’t be used” I tried on Windows now Mac what do I do I have the mk2
I have a question, how did you get the samples folder under the Hello Project? I am only finding the Hello.als file and can't seem to find any new candidates.
Ni Nick, thanks for getting in touch. You need to drag everything that's downloaded from your downloads folder in to the folder that you make on your Mac/PC, and then it should appear in there.
How do I open a .rar file? EVERYTIME I download a file it’s blank and ends with .rar please help
.rar is a compressed file, download WinRar to open .rar files and then extract it to a folder on your computer

Hello! I am trying to work on the hello cover that you did in your tutorial, as the first launchpad cover ever, since I got the Launchpad yesterday. I am using Ableton Live 9 Lite, and working on a MKII. I am trying to connect lights, and make the audio work correctly. I followed your tutorial completely, and went back over to make sure I was right. I still have only one button that will make any kind of sound (and it isn't even the right track for the file) and no lights show up at all. What am I doing wrong?

So I got the lights part done. But one thing I downloaded an Als file and it sort of works on my lauchpad mini, although not all the sounds appear when I press the button only a few come out, but in the wrong place, any help?
Sorry to hear it man! I'd suggest trying some different project files, and check out the video I did on Launchpad Arcade, that's actually supported by Novation themselves.
I have done everything said in this video but i can't get it to find the missing media files and the other pages lighting workes but not the correct sounds.

Great question! You need a full version of Ableton to use some lights plug ins, so some project files you download will need a paid version, but Live Lite will allow you to make basic shows with just midi programming!

Sorry to hear it man! Try going to Option > Preferences > Audio > Raise the buffer size
Say if I wanted to play Faded on the launchpad MK2, how would I download the Faded by Alan Walker song on my laptop and make the button play each note of the song!?? If ya know wat I mean?? 😕🙁
Hang on I need help. You created a new ableton project folder, but on a Mac. I'm using an hp laptop. How did you find that folder named ableton?!

How exactly do you keep the samples again? Do you just put them in the project folder?
You put the file in a folder on your computer which you can make in Documents and name 'Launchpad Projects', and then click 'Add folder' on the left of Ableton and select that folder in your documents, then open it from Ableton. Check out the video for more information.
