Dmv & insurance will be their punishment. You lose license or insurance now you can't drive & driving without those is an arrest in most states so the police get what they want eventually 😅

I think there should be a distinction between regular traffic ticket and criminal traffic offenses and offenders Someone who has multiple DUI is a criminal and if are not following rules of court ,,probation..than a warrant should be issued but not for a minor infraction,,letters ,and sanctions should suffice
I agree, we should get rid of qualified immunity. That gives absolutely no accountability for police officers that decide to violate the constitution and commit crimes. That's what we're talking about right?
Good report Will. Makes Law Enforcement's job 'harder'? No one is forcing anyone to remain in a job that is too hard for them. Anyone that does not like or agree with the legislation can and should go about effecting change by the legal means available. In this case it would be referendum. And why not ask the people you promised to serve Chief? Does this have anything to do with a revenue stream? The Chief talks about adding more to the proverbial plates, but what he says makes NO sense. Why Dustman wants to have it back to the way it used to be can only be the Almighty Dollar. The Chief could not care less about 'where we go as a society'. He cares about having his agencies meal ticket taken away from him. A legitimate concern to be sure. Especially owing to the fact that the court awards from lawsuits against excessive force are getting more frequent with bigger dollar values. One out-of-control maniac cop can cost a community hundreds of thousands of dollars. Eventually the courts are going to allow prosecutors to go after the cops personally. Qualified Immunity be damned. I suggest going after the people and institutions that train the police candidates. This is the source of a lot of the problem . . . but I digress. Good luck Chief. Not an enviable position to be in. Thanks.
What is supposed to be bad about this law? It removes the person from the concern that a simple traffic ticket can destroy their life with warrants for their arrest. This relegates the ticket to being paid. I would think that the police would rather not have to pick people up for traffic tickets.
I agree taking drivers licenses, high fines, and jail time for traffic infractions is pure evil. Need to get rid of seat belt laws. Also, the police literally use it to harass the public and take your right to travel free on public roads that the taxpayers not the police pay for.

They work hard to keep the poor poor and they protect the 1% and their money. Just compare the percentage of rapes they solve to the percentage of bank robberies they solve and you will see that the police work to keep the 1% on top.
Because if you protest they will put a bunch of charges on you and if you say I don't care I can afford an attorney and pay my tickets they will say we will keep on coming by
Today, it's all about the revenue .When the economy is good, you don't see a lot of people pulled over. Sales tax generates the revenue. When the economy is bad, You see people pulled over a lot more. Especially around the 1st and 15th. The State will get there money.
The poor are less likely to be able to pay a fine for something minor that doesn’t matter. But courts will and do ruin your life if you are poor and can’t pay or fight
There are a couple problems when it comes to traffic violations. People can pay the fine or they can ask for a hearing. Now I think about this for a second, I watched a live court case where an individual was being charged with stealing $50 worth of merchandise. Now this has nothing to do with a traffic violation with the following exception, the judge in the case said that even though this involved only $50, having this hearing and having the witnesses ( police officers testify) cost that municipality over $2000 in court costs that they can’t recover. So if this is what happens when someone wants a hearing, how many of these can the city or municipality stand to have in front of a judge. Wouldn’t it be better if they had a few opportunities to pay for the infraction or lose their driving privileges something that can be done electronically without involving a hearing and everything that goes with it. In this particular municipality, if there is a traffic infraction and the defendant asks for a hearing, to save money remember the police officers testifying, the district attorney/prosecutor reduces the charges and the individual ends up paying a small fine but there are still court costs they can’t recover. There’s always more than two sides to a story.
I seen Kcmo ambulance on 291 headed towards Liberty where their lights and sirens is on pass me and then later I passed them. They had their lights and sirens on to go to Andy’s ice cream that should be against the law just to put your lights and sirens on so you can get through to to go get ice cream.
We should also pass a law where anyone getting stopped/fined for using their phone, gets to have their ticket immediately declared null and void if the cop stopping them has a phone, radio, laptop computer, Gameboy or any other distraction in the front seat of their car.
No one should be arrested for a simple traffic violation. But if their bad driving rises to the level of criminal behavior, or if someone gets injured due to deliberate misbehavior behind the wheel (street racing, drunk driving, etc.), then all bets should be off.
Is driving without a license a traffic infraction? Seems all these citations could be used to suspend a drivers license. If no license or driving suspended is only an infraction, then you might as well stop working traffic. Wasting your time. The honest citizens who infrequently violates traffic laws will say opps, and pay their fine, others will push it, see what happens.
Not issuing a WARRANT for unpaid traffic ticket makes sense. The person will need to show up to court or will lost by default and have to pay the ticket. If they don't their license will be suspended. Not issuing warrants saves time and money for the courts and LE
The system is designed to keep people off the road that should not be on the road. But my problem with the system is that a minor traffic offense can compound into you losing your license being in jail having all these finds that you can't pay. There's way too many people below the poverty line they get a minor traffic offense and end up in the system for years.

People, keep in mind ;
All Traffic Stops are a VIOLATION of The Constitution !
Traffic Stops are NOT crimes !
You don't go to jail or prison for Traffic Stops !
You have The Right to travel freely on State and City Highways and Streets without being molested by Government Officials. Unless you've committed a crime.
Traffic Stops are NOT crimes !
Don't trust anyone in $200 sunglasses.
The People have Spoken and agree that Bum Policing needs to be curbed
No wonder they're pissed, now they can't get their whole city budget from traffic tickets.
Traffic Code not law ! It's A Civil Infraction not a law volition. NO Warrant Shall Be Issued With out PROBABLE CAUSE , Affidavit AND SWORN TESTIMONY OF THE VICTIM. !!! SO WHO IS VICTIM OF TRAFFIC INFARCTION ?????
There are quite a few videos of Independence Police that shows a department with ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY!!!
It's going to hinder their efforts to put people in jail for their unlawful traffic stops.
Well do something about the habitual dwi offenders
I didn’t know cops were only around for traffic? I thought their job was to uphold all laws?
Seems like all cops just focus on traffic and not on anything else!
So if the person does not show up to court and no warrant is issued, I'm guessing it will show up when they go to renew their license. And will not be able to renew until the tickets are payed.
Great idea.
Dmv & insurance will be their punishment. You lose license or insurance now you can't drive & driving without those is an arrest in most states so the police get what they want eventually 😅
But then won’t they just continue driving on a revoked or suspended license or tag which again is another traffic offense?where is the incisive to follow the law then?
A cop complaining about lack of accountability is rich. Wonder how many of his officers he's ever really held accountable for their actions.
I like the new law
Abolish qualified, judicial and prosecuratorial immunity. Abolish police unions. Abolish the fraternal order of police and citizens united.
Well Chief Dustman, Why do you think it is ok to arrest or this but actively prevent accountability in your own department. Are you a hypocrite? Why yes you are.
Ejection the supreme Court has ruled it is not the job of the officers for your safety if it's not their job did it means its monetary funds for the city any victims am I still out affidavit under penalty and perjury is the victims job not the cities all tickets with with money involved is a bill of attainder and it is unconstitutional on its face of course they lied to the people they say it's a contract but all contract when forced upon you is null and void the city makes 100 million dollars but what about the victim I bet there's not a hundred million dollars to them
I think there should be a distinction between regular traffic ticket and criminal traffic offenses and offenders
Someone who has multiple DUI is a criminal and if are not following rules of court ,,probation..than a warrant should be issued but not for a minor infraction,,letters ,and sanctions should suffice
Cops honest like politicians
When you bring accountability to the blue line then we'll talk. You tube videos suggest this comment isn't out of line with reality.
I agree, we should get rid of qualified immunity. That gives absolutely no accountability for police officers that decide to violate the constitution and commit crimes. That's what we're talking about right?
This is crap for them to assume we can keep up. We can't.
Good. Maybe there will be less road piracy: How many PDs and municipalities are funded by ticket revenue?
Thanks.
In other words, cops and municipality may lose revenue
Upholding our rights an constitution 😮😂
What is supposed to be bad about this law? It removes the person from the concern that a simple traffic ticket can destroy their life with warrants for their arrest. This relegates the ticket to being paid. I would think that the police would rather not have to pick people up for traffic tickets.
I agree taking drivers licenses, high fines, and jail time for traffic infractions is pure evil. Need to get rid of seat belt laws. Also, the police literally use it to harass the public and take your right to travel free on public roads that the taxpayers not the police pay for.
California laws are slowing coming this way
Hearing police talk about accountability is a joke. Yall investigate yourselves and clear yourselves every time.
Am I the only one who thinks this reporter sounds like Martin Luther King?
Lots of money is made on them tickets
Well... I was going to rant about "qualified immunity" but, It looks like every comment before me has that covered in spades! Well done informed citizens! Well done!
FTA failure to appear is the money maker in all courts.
You should talk about your officer's actions an consequences.
In independence you get arrested and beaten for simply trying to pay property tax.
Thumbs down for ad's and not paying me to view them
Just be clear, is it about traffic safety or revenue?
You are not going to jail for a traffic violation, you are going to jail for failing to appear in court. That is 2 different things.
I wouldn't want you to be put in a cage for either of those things.
@tomgrimm1141 how dumb are you, you clearly don't comprehend
@@anthonyware4033 Not as dumb as people who protect the biggest criminals around the police. You must be one of them Trump U. Valedictorians.
the real concern is financial
This chief sound dumb how is a expired tag or a broken tail keeping the streets safe cause yall seem to always harrass the wrong people u miss the people committing real crimes just to get the person who has a bad tag lmao
They work hard to keep the poor poor and they protect the 1% and their money. Just compare the percentage of rapes they solve to the percentage of bank robberies they solve and you will see that the police work to keep the 1% on top.
Why would anyone ever show up to court to pay a fine or plead guilty or innocent. Simple ignore the tickets. Zero accountability. Crazy !!!!!
Because if you protest they will put a bunch of charges on you and if you say I don't care I can afford an attorney and pay my tickets they will say we will keep on coming by
News reporter got the best voice in the nation 😂😂
Violate the law such as police violate the law ?
Today, it's all about the revenue .When the economy is good, you don't see a lot of people pulled over. Sales tax generates the revenue.
When the economy is bad, You see people pulled over a lot more. Especially around the 1st and 15th. The State will get there money.
lol you can always put a lien on my hoopty🤣
They want full jails so no room exists for the big fish...
There's other methods to ensure revenue generating is allowed to continue....
I'm with you Chief !! Enforce the laws !!
The poor are less likely to be able to pay a fine for something minor that doesn’t matter. But courts will and do ruin your life if you are poor and can’t pay or fight
If you don’t pay your fines they used to suspend your license , now it goes to a collections agency. Weak.
😂😂😂
“Citizens should be left alone absent good reason” - Joe Gruters (R) 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
We are slaves more laws than we need they get to pick whatever law was passed in secret then wait here so we can find a law we broke 🎉
I seen Kcmo ambulance on 291 headed towards Liberty where their lights and sirens is on pass me and then later I passed them. They had their lights and sirens on to go to Andy’s ice cream that should be against the law just to put your lights and sirens on so you can get through to to go get ice cream.
Accountability? That’s the pot calling the kettle black
We should also pass a law where anyone getting stopped/fined for using their phone, gets to have their ticket immediately declared null and void if the cop stopping them has a phone, radio, laptop computer, Gameboy or any other distraction in the front seat of their car.
It hurts a for profit businesses bottom line
What Judge Is a Lawyer First in Municipal Courts ?
No one should be arrested for a simple traffic violation. But if their bad driving rises to the level of criminal behavior, or if someone gets injured due to deliberate misbehavior behind the wheel (street racing, drunk driving, etc.), then all bets should be off.
Sounds like a great law idk 🤷🏿♀️ ?
Is driving without a license a traffic infraction? Seems all these citations could be used to suspend a drivers license. If no license or driving suspended is only an infraction, then you might as well stop working traffic. Wasting your time. The honest citizens who infrequently violates traffic laws will say opps, and pay their fine, others will push it, see what happens.
Not issuing a WARRANT for unpaid traffic ticket makes sense. The person will need to show up to court or will lost by default and have to pay the ticket. If they don't their license will be suspended. Not issuing warrants saves time and money for the courts and LE
So what is the "right and wrong" justice for crap, out of control cops that terrorizes its citizens in your precinct ??
The system is designed to keep people off the road that should not be on the road. But my problem with the system is that a minor traffic offense can compound into you losing your license being in jail having all these finds that you can't pay. There's way too many people below the poverty line they get a minor traffic offense and end up in the system for years.
Accountability ended when qualified immunity began. Every argument the clown made can be mirrored and provides an accurate description of policing today….. lack of or no accountability.
