I just want to say thank you for covering some of my music. I've been in love with the Surf and Surf Rock genre for the past 2 years now, Inspiring me to put down my Les Paul and pick up a Strat. Even buying a Fender Champ Lap Steel to play my favourite song Sleepwalk by Santo and Johnny (I don't mind the Shadows version but prefer the original) and this cover of Apache was amazing!
Thank you very much, Mackenzie! I´m glad you like it. I love Surf too and I think, particulary, that Sleepwalk by Santo & Johnny is one of the best songs I have ever heard. It´s great. Regards!
Hey man thank you for this lesson, the chords in the background really help, now I have something to play with my dad :) my grandparents love this song so this’ll be a great surprise for them. Once again thank you!
Well done and a great sound .Are you using a Fender amp or Vox like Hank Marvin . The Ventures played it a little different but I would perfer an additional verse so I can play the chorus on the 5th and 6th strings .It really give a great tone on the top strings .Thanks for your tabs and videos .
@@charleswesley9907 Thank you very much Charles! I didn't use any amp, I connected the guitar direct to the sound card and added a bit of reverb and delay to try to give that typical Marvin sound. But it´s not so easy 😅
@@JoseChurruca Hank uses a VOX LONG TOM echo unit with 5 heads . Also he uses the Kinman 54 pickups . You have a very good sound though . A Fender Jazzmaster may give you the sound that you want . KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK .
Awesome lesson! I think I've got it down after only a week! I have 3 acoustics and a Telecaster,None of them have a tremlo bar. I guess I need one more guitar now! :)
Spot on for Hank Marvin's version. Jorgen Ingmann's version (1961), which hit #2 on the USA Billboard Hot 100 in '61, is my favorite. But I'm a believer in the original being the best. I think it's true 90% of the time. Very well done, classic surf instrumental.
Thank you very much, Larry! I think so, almost always the original is the best. I don´t remember right now a song in which the version is better than the original. But in this case I think Marvin did manage to capture the essence of the song and to transmit it. And, besides, I started to play the guitar listening to this and other similar songs of The Shadows and Dire Straits. That´s why I have chosen it. Regards!
Fantastic format for guitar study - both rythm and lead guitars, the tabs, the chords, authentic sound, soulful playing - you've got it all covered! And your neighbours are truly blessed! I'm curious to know what city that is in the background, unless you prefer to remain incognito.
@@JoseChurruca Thanks! I just googled Pontevedra. Looks beautiful. And no cars! All the better for passers by to hear your music drifting down from the rooftops. Here in Paris we can only manage one day a year without cars!
Really great version! Good performance! I've been learning this and looking for these particular tabs. Any chance you can provide them in a download some where? And, the chords in the background are a great help!
Are you able to do 'fingerstyle arrangements' instead of backing tracks? Sounds very good but I much prefer to carry the whole performance on one guitar.
Yes, I can and it would surely give me much less work. I try to do the song just like it was recorded. Sometimes it´s not easy but it´s a beautiful challenge :-)

Hey Jose...how long did it take to work on that gallop? Ive been at it for weeks..it difficult to pace it. Also..working on Pipeline...almost given up on the tremolo intro..do I go real slow..and work up to speed?
You must be patient and speed will come. It´s frustrating to be working and not seeing results but, finally, they will come, I assure you. Practise makes perfect :-) Go on and greetings John!!!
It is possible, this is a Japanese Fender, not exactly the same model that Marvin uses. But not only does the guitar influence, it is also the way of playing, the amplifier, the efects... Regards!!!
A song that is the perfect blend not being impossible to play and how good it sounds? inconceivable!
Yes, I think so, it´s not very difficult (except the gallop :-) but it sounds great.

what are ur amp settings for this??
Clean sound and plenty of reverb and in the final mix I added a compressor and an EQ.
Tunes with high reverb like this makes me thing in soap bubbles. I don't know why.
:D

When you were younger how many hours a day did you spend on playing guitar?
A lot :-) But the important thing I think is not the number of hours a day but to be insistent and constant.
