“I’ll be honest, a small part of my brain though : Alex is male right now, I have just been kissed by a dude, How do I feel about that?
The rest of my brain answered : I have just been kissed by Alex Fierro, and I’m absolutely great with that”
Yeah boy
You just spoiled me.....nooooooooooooo!
actually hated that part. Magnus isn't fucking gay
moon8983 yeah I can respect how you have viewed it, but I feel like rick riordan has written the relationship as more about the personality than the gender. People will have different views but I feel that this relationship has been clearly set up.
Um, was it ever stated in any of the books what Magnus's sexually orientation was?
YOU DIDN'T TALK ABOUT TJ!!!!!!! I gained so much love and respect for TJ in this book. His bravery and badassery was the best part
Too be honest, he is probably my favorite character of Magnus Chase after this book. Also, him thanking all the British people was adorable.
I love tj!!
I actually loved the flyeting! It was great that Magnus didnt stoop to Lokis level of belittling other people but instead focused on positively and raising people up
jack in sos: who holds a pen for a sword. how lame.
jack in sotd: see magnus, i told you it wasn't lame to have a sword for a pen
Manaus said that a sword was stupid he was putting words in jacks mouth because jack wasn't talking yet
Hearthstone is still my favorite character from all 3 books! I loved the jokes of him signing like when they try to wake him up he signs "im not here" and while theyre skiing down the hill he signs "on ur left" i could not stop laughing! 😂😂😂 And in book #2 Magnus yells at jack "you heard him!" as in follow Hearth's orders but jack yells back "no i didnt!" LOL
freeleigh SAME
I liked it in the Sword of Summer when Jack met Hearth bae:
" Your sword is talking. Hearth noted.
"Your elf is deaf." Jack noted.
What is he saying? I cannot read sword lips. Hearth signed.
"What is he saying?" Jack asked. "I can't read sign language." "
OH BEAUTIFUL JACK AND HEARTH. NOW ALL WE NEED IS OTIS TO BE PART OF OUR SMOL BEAN FAMILY
This book was just perfect honestly, ALEX FIERRO IS AMAZING AND MAGNUS CHASE IS JUST AWESOME, OH GODS, FIERROCHASE IS AMAZING AND DIVERSITY MAKES IT MORE AMAZING
It annoys me that people just want percy to be a main character, this is magnus’ story, not Percy’s, and that’s what makes it Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, didn’t you all heard what Rick Riordan said? “Percy is just going to come and give some advice, he’s not taking over the story, this is magnus’ story”, we already have got 10+ full of Percy and many crossovers with him, plus all that’s coming with the rest of Trials of Apollo, while we Magnus Chase lovers just have a small trilogy, I hope we get to see more Magnus and Alex in the future, which is unlikely, but I’m sure we will get a lot of more percy and Annabeth, so let’s just enjoy the books
S B let's get more jack and riptide crossovers
Yeah
All the fangirls are basically trying to kill Percy by making him face monsters
Cut him some slack! He wants to go to a college and have a normal relationship
That being said I would love if there was like a crossover between the Greek and Roman demigods and Vikings/Einrajhi/other Norse warriors and the Magicians as a final battle in the end of the world
Ragnarok is yet to come and I feel like it won't be just the Norse god's who are going to die
Yeah but I think cameos are great and cool
Thank you! And by the way i liked the slow start, because we get to see Magnus' thougths and feelings, and then the other characters. And the end - so many people don't appreciate their close friends, or themselves, or can't enjoy the moments, and it's amazing to see Magnus getting trough his own issiues.
bruhhhhhhhh, they need to make a book 4. the ending with the homeless shelter and alex and magnus. wow. He better make a 4th lol.
DID I MENTION CHOCOLATE KISS , OH GODS THE CHOCOLATE KISS
The thing about Rick's writing/his books is that he's really good at describing quests and fighting scenes, but he also has a way of waving stories together and epic battles in the end. I love that so much, but it also has a downside: sometimes the quest in the books is more important than the end battle. Like in The Last Olympian, the whole book is basically a batte and the end boss should be Kronos. But it turns out to be Luke (I believe, I read it a long time ago) and that was kind of a bummer for me?? I don't exactly know why though. And in Blood of Olympus we have read four books about a big quest to Europe to fight the Gaea, which went well because the gods helped. They then go to CHB, only to discover that the Romans are there and Ready To Fight™ them, but the Romans can't attack the Greece because they have to slay all those monsters (Octavian does anyways, that loser).
Long story short, I absolutely love Rick's books, his writing, his jokes and storylines. But I just forget about all the battles sometimes because he makes them seem less important. I don't know if this makes sense to other people. I hope it does.
You are absolutely right.
Thanks for the spoil
Iemand Niemand or you can just,,,, you know,,,, not read it?

I feel the exact same way about this ending. Like, it was okay, but it wasn't fantastic as The Last Olympian and The Serpent's Shadow (yes, you wanna read an amazing finale of a Rick book then read Kane Chronicles, one of his best and so underrated). I really liked all of the characters and I LOVED the kiss of Magnus and Alex (reminded me so much of Percy and Annabeth's kiss on The Battle of the Labyrinth), but the ending was very rushed. I loved that Magnus turned the manor into this place for homeless kids, it was amazing, but the end was too fast. Yeah we beat Loki, and we came back, chatted with the Gods, went back to Valhalla, and we are done, this is it. The end of the world will happen but not yet. And the flyting was really cool. I expected this amazing showdown but it wasn't, but I loved how Magnus was just so beautiful talking about his friends I love him so much.
December Vesalius I absolutely agree with the fact that Kane Chronicles has an epic finale that does live up to the hype :)
I can just imagine Apophis having an "OH SHIT" look before his head blew up.
will you read Kane Chronicles?
Jacob Nekola ikr it's so good but everyone neglects it
Gabrielle Porter Ikr! The Kane Chronicles is what got me reading Rick Riordan!
I know!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the kane chronicles, but no one acknowledges it...
alot of people acknowledge them.. there are several crossover books.
Jacob Nekola ummm yes! She needs to read them. The crossover series would be awesome, pullin characters from all 3 different mythologies
I loved what Magnus did at the end with his Uncle's place. It was so heartwarming & a great ending, although I have a feeling that in a few years Magnus will have a new story to tell.
I really want to know whats the big news with percy and annabeth at the end of the book
thegryffindordemigod i really want to know its making me nervous!!!! I think we might find out in toa’s next book
that can't be because TOA and Magnus Chase are happening pretty much at the same time
LittleAppleChan i feel like Grover died
Tori Pearce no way he is in trials of apollo
I feel as if Grover may have died, too. I hope not ):
He is the guide for Apollo in the labyrinth, and The ship of the dead takes place in summer, June to be exact. The Dark Prophecy happens in March.... the timelines line up. I guess we find out whatever it is in The Burning Maze. Grover better be okay....
I’m in the middle of a readathon right now but Christine’s videos are WORTH IT.
WAIT YOU DIDNT TALK ABOUT FIERROCHASE WHAY DIDNT YOU TALK ANOUT FIERROCHASE
Because there's so much LGBT propaganda in that ship, I could literally smell the identity politics. Fierrochase is the Voldemort of ships.
_teenie_ fey_ I know she mentioned them but she didn’t talk about them in the context of this particular book and everything that happened between them in the ship of the dead
_teenie_ fey_ also if you look on tumblr only about 1/3 if he fandom over there calls them Beatrice cause not everyone has Twitter and fierrochase was the name that kinda just formed for them from the beginning
magnus + alex = puppy love
she did...
I LOVE LOVE the tone of this series, especially Magnus as a main character. The humor was on point. I just thought the plotline, where it was going, fell flat. You have books 1 and 2 preparing for a huge finale, only to get an insult battle, and then in the end Magnus didn't say any insults. I felt Rick rushed the end, and it would've been better as a more thought-out 5 book series. Fierrochase was awesome though. I think my favorite finale of Rick's books is The Serpent's Shadow (Kane Chronicles).
Is it weird to ship swords? I ship Percy's sword, Riptide and Magnus' sword, Jack?
Treat Percy's involvement like you want Clary's involvement to be treated in the Shadowhunter books. You said yourself that Clary's story was over and you didn't really care about it. So is Percy's story. Rick treated Percy's involvement in this book exactly right. Actually it would've been better if he wasn't in it at all.
Preach. Percy had his spotlight, it’s someone else’s turn.
Agreed, he had his story, let someone else have the spotlight
*Apollo pisses all of us off, don't worry*
Agreed
Okay but can we talk about Hearthstone's dad last words????? "Use your board, traitor" that made me start sobbing so hard, I just wanted to hug Hearthstone so hard, I just can't. He's a baby who deserves all the good things in the nine worlds.
I haven't read this book and I ain't leaving... yeah I'm a rebel.
I actually loved this book, it was my favorite book out of the trilogy, but I still loved all of them. I guess the reason I loved it the most is because we got to see more of the other characters (Mallory, TJ, Halfborn) then in the other books. And because Alex Fierro is my favorite character and we get to see him/her a lot in this book. But I see why you wouldn't like it as much.
Da HOT SAUCE Crew I loved finding out about Mallory’s backstory- that’s she’s Northern Irish and actually died and was involved in the Troubles, really interesting for me being Northern Irish myself- it was a really nice surprise.
@@imagiraffe8686 I felt the exact same way, I’m northern Irish as well don’t live in Ireland anymore though. And as I was reading the book I ran into my sister room and had to tell her all about Mallory. It was specifically when they talked about the bus she was blowing up
WAIT HOLD UP. WHY SO LITTLE TALK ABOUT FIERROCHASE ?????!!!!
Personally, I liked the entire series and I probably will reread all three books. I also, though this might sound weird, thought that the flyting was hilarious because of the reason you stated. I laughed the entire time during that.
I liked the Ship of The Dead WAY more than the second one
Yeah, I still like Hammer of Thor, but it felt like Rick's preachiest book. The political stuff was turned way down in Ship of the Dead. Heck, I love how they kind of played with it here. Alex: "Too many books with dead old white guys." Magnus: "I'm a dead white guy." Alex: "True." I would've been pissed off if Magnus didn't have that retort.
Really? I personally think The Hammer of Thor is the best book in the series.
The point of Magnus hardly needing the mead was to show that you don't need "magical powers" to speak out for what you believe in
KANE CHRONICLES GIRL
My favorite chapter is probably "the guy with the feet" when magnus met his grandfather I laughed so hard at how proud of his feet Njord was.
I think Blood of Olympus was disappointing because it was very rushed. Thought that's not the case in Ship of the Dead, the flighting with Loki did not live up to the hype and I think that's why the ending felt like a bummer.
Christine have you listened to the Percy Jackson musical yet?
Its called the lightning theif musical
Thank god I'm not the only one who read the flighting like a rap battle!
This was my favorite book in the series, I love when they go to Norway because I’m Norwegian. I love when they order food at Ægirs hall. And most of all, I love Fierrochase. This is by far my favorite series
I got so excited when I saw you posted this cause I finished the book yesterday and my fav thing to do when I finish a book is to watch your book talks! ❤️
i saw rick riordan in the title and i couldn’t handle waiting, i just have to see this
Rick Riordan is a King! 😍
I reallly want to read this seriessss! I know I shoulddd
Laura Quesada Yuuup you should!
You will enjoy them sooo much I recommend them to pretty much all of my friends
What I really loved about Magnus and Alex's relationship is that it's so different from most books, movies, etc., and yet, so relatable.
Most books end with the main couple getting together and being beautiful and happy and having true love and being on track to marriage and kids (if there isn't a prologue including that already - coughharrypottercough) and yadda yadda...... Even Rick's other books. That's fun and awesome and all, but the truth is, relationships don't always work out that way.
Magnus and Alex have kissed. They've acknowledged their like and mutual attraction for one another. And yet, they also aren't together yet. Not really. They recognize that they have time to see how things go, and that they don't need a deeply romantic relationship yet, even if they do like each other and know they might want such a relationship in the future. That honestly feels so much closer to how things work in the modern world than anything else I've ever read.
The main thing I got from that book was that it didn't matter what you are, it matters who you are. Because Alex kissed Magnus twice with different genders. Magnus thought when he got kissed by Alex as a guy : "Alex is a male right now. I have just been kissed by a dude. How do I feel about that?" Questioning himself, then said: "I have just been kissed by Alex Fierro. I am absolutely great with that." Meaning it doesn't matter the person I like/ love (not quite sure) has just kissed me. I am sorry if this offends anyone, if you think differently please tell me it would be nice to know. Again sorry if offends anyone this is my thoughts on this topic
I hope more books also come out of this series. The third book was okay but I need another to tie other loose ends. Like Magnus understanding animals. Is it really just a side note or... will it play a bigger role in the future? Bringing back Loki to the same trap was a disappointment for me. Like what? That's it? All that trouble for making the same mistake twice?
I mean, in the Percy Jackson series, something had changed significantly. Percy saw what went wrong that led to the war and looked for a solution. The Last Olympian's finale was satisfying for me because it concluded the arc well. I didn't even think about the new prophecy. Just a sign that the story doesn't end. Their lives will go on. The camp will go on with or without them. I didn't think for one second it indicated another series.
Hello Christine. Can you do the booktalk of Burning Maze and Tyrant's Tomb pls?
mE tOo ChRiStInE
i always want percy and annabeth to main characters and i always get myself let down
ugh
his part in this book is like a stan lee cameo
he’s there for like 2 seconds and then gone for the rest of the movie/book
for me:
1. sword of summer
2. ship of the dead
3. the hammer of thor
p.s. loved your review!!
The Percy as a main character withdrawals are very relatable
the third was my least favorite as well. But I just love the characters in Magnus Chase. I would read like 5 more books with that cast
I absolutely *loved* this book! My favorite was the second one - The Hammer of Thor, but I found The Ship of the Dead to be just as epic and hilarious. I could *not* stop laughing and awwww-ing the whole time. The only reason it's my second favorite is that I felt like it wasn't truly an 'ending' and that there was still so much more to be said/done, not to mention just a tad bit disappointed with the ending. My least favorite was actually the first book because it was the one that truly felt repetitive to me, as well as very-slow going (especially in its first half). That being said, both the Hammer of Thor and The Ship of the Mead - I mean, the Ship of the Dead :P just *blew me away*. I love them to pieces, I love Magnus and Alex to pieces, I love Sam and the gang to pieces, and I just need - no, I must - have more of them. This is definitely not over. There must be a continuation to those characters.
I laughed, I loved, I had such a great time. It was absolutely AMAZING.
The only reason I'm not sad that it is over right now is that I don't feel like it's *truly* over, as well as... well, we have The Trials of Apollo to make us happy :')
I think Hammer of Thor will always be my favorite it was just so exciting and I mean... I don't know.
As I read the book, I wondered greatly at how the flyting will go down. Even with the mead, I was still... skeptical. I did initially think of it as like a rap battle but I also couldn't picture Magnus in one so when the scene finally came, it made sense to me. I was satisfied.
But after hearing you talk about the mead, I rethought and agree with you that it didn't seem necessary at all! The looked so hard for it too!! A lot of other things could have happened instead!!
But maybe... I dunno... it could be a lesson that you don't need to seek out things and depend on them to fix things for you? That's my afterthought on that part of the arc.
Loved this book!
I was hoping Ragnorok would happen like how the apocalypse happened in the Kane Chronicles, but the characters were still alive and it still worked out without feeling cheap. That’s why I was underwhelmed. Still enjoyed the book though!
One thing that really bothered me was how all of Magnus's neighbors development was rushed
We liked t.j. and Mallory and Halfborn as they were
Now t.j. has to be mad about racial stuff when we wanted him to be his happy go lucky self
Now Halfborn is fan boying over Flam
And while I liked Mallory's story, like I said, it was rushed and didn't really have many chapters left in the book to see how Mallory was even really feeling about the situation
CHRISTINE!!! The cover of queen of air and darkness is already released. Where the hell are the carckpot theories?!?!?
It's been a long while since I was about to stay for the spoiler-y section during Christine's Booktalks haha. Love the energy per usual
I think they may appear on the Appolo series, there are still so many books on that series...
honestly, I thought the books in this trilogy just kept getting better and better
I would rate this book 8.5/10 stars. But really, the most disappointing part of the book was when Percy's little sister was named Estelle. Like, I don't have a problem with that name and I actually really like it for another person, but I was kinda hoping for her to be named from Greek mythology like how Percy was from Perseus. In fact, my friend and I were betting what her name would be and she said it would be Persephone because it started with a P and I said Andromeda or Atlanta. I know this sounds stupid, but that's how I feel.
True also Magnus and Alex’s ship names are Feirochase, Malex, and Beatrice. Also sorry if I misspelled one of the ship names I suck at ape
*it. Why is ape even there I didn’t even type that?
WHEN ARE YOU DOING THE OTHER TRIALS OF APOLLO BOOKS??
YES FAVORITE BOOK THIS YEAR
Now we just need more Hearth and Blitzen.
SoS: no one to ship Magnus with
HoT: *Alex cuts Magnus’ head off* SHIP
SotD: *le kiss* SHIIIPPPPPPPPPPP
end of SotD: *le chocolate moment* OMGS FIERROCHASE IS CANON! I SSSSHHHHHIIIIIIPPPPPPPPP
I still haven't finished the book! Aaaa, the bright side is that I got mine signed 😍
SoftPaws293746 LUCKYYYY
I just love how real and funny Rick's books are
I'm sorry that I'm bringing this up again but Christine YOU NEED TO READ The Name of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Damn I finished that book for the second time yesterday and I just love it so so much. It has got every element that you need to make a book so amazing including a young boy going to a magic university :)). HPPFF I could talk about how great it is for hours, and I am really waiting for you to read it.
Christine, aren't you going to finish the tv series of shadowhunters?
just for the reviews? like me? hahahahhhahahaha
At last.. The thing that Id waited for months!!
But I think my favorite part of the ending was the Chase Space scene at the end. So cute.
for me the finale part for me left me hanging.. I think it's not yet done for sure.. Unfinished business maybe? Or what?
I still somehow waiting more about Norse Mythology from Rick!!
JhayVee Mc'Louze I still feel like there's more
I feel like something really important in this book that no ones talking about is the fact that Annabeth called Magnus crying and we don't know why.
I was actually really happy that Percy and Annabeth wasn't part of the book that much
Agreed , after all they’ve been through. Percy and Annabeth deserve a peaceful life after all their adventures.
I had the same exact feelings as u. When I finished the book eailer this month I was like: Wait... That's it. Wow, not what I have expected to be an ending. Didn't we see it before?
I love this book talk! I related so much to your thoughts
My exact thoughts when I was reading this book!
BTW have you read the Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan?
It's about ancient Egypt and its mythology and it's one of my favorites!
Have you read the Daughter of Zeus series by Kaitlin Bevis? I think she does a great job making the mythology translate into modern day situations but still keeping true to the myths!
My order for his series
Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Magnus Chase
Trials of Apollo
The Heroes of Olympus
Kane Chronicals
Now don't get me wrong I love all of rick's books but they are deffintly not created equal. XD
Also percy has saved the world enough, he deserves a break.
Christine, have you ever read the book “making faces” by Amy Harmon? I really want to read it but I would love for you to read it as well.
Christine you really need to read the Kane chronicles
Can we talk about how at the end when Magnus called Annabeth and she had been crying and said that she had gotten some bad news!!!😱😱😱😱
Are you gonna do the rest of The Trials of Apollo series?
Wa tdd ching this to refresh what happened because I lost it for a while and I am going to read it again
Did you guys notice in the thumb nail that Christine's one eye appears dark and other light?
Christine I know this is of topic (kinda) but did you know that there's a new Shatter Me book coming out next year?
Melhor que a versão Brasileira, que edição lindaaa
My favorite part was when Magnus, Alex and TJ had to fight the giant with Alex's clay man. I died so much , it was so great xD
Have you read Tower of Dawn yet?
I’ve never loved a character as much as I love Mallory
In the fight I constantly had the feeling that now I now why Percy isn't there. Because I feel like he and Anabeth out talked monsters so often before that if he was there he would have stomped Loki in the ground like after to words. Also I think from the way it felt Magnus could simply drunken normal meet or even none to have the same evect. To me it kind of felt like there was no need other than losen his toung a bit.
I LOVED the Magnus Chase series... but that said it is a little repetitive, if you strip it down, it’s almost the same story as the first Percy Jackson. I do love the ensemble of characters in this series though. And about the cameos with Anabeth and Percy... Riordan is just teasing us for a crossover series in the future. Which we ALL need
you probably have been asked a million times if you are going to review the Kane Chronicles Personally i Dont think It Is As good As the other series but still pretty Good would Be Really be interested in hearing your thoughts
Habe you read the Kane chronicles?
Btw Rick said he might write another Magnus Chase book so this might not be the finale
I have been waiting for this video!
Alright someone tell me: did Alex and magnus get together? And what about hearthstone and blitz??
Magnus and Alex = Possibly, I'd even say likely.
Hearth and Blitz = No, I don't think they ever hinted at a relationship.
Yayayaya FINALLYY IM SOO HAPPYYYY
Christine, please consider reading the Kane Chronicles! I personally like it Better than Magnus Chase (as a whole series), and the humour is different than MC, but on point! Plus, unlike the other Rick Riordan series, the finale is really epic and doesn't disappoint at all :D
I couldn't get passed Hammer of Thor. I'm at the bowling alley part and have been there for like three months. Does anyone know if it gets better????
thegryffindordemigod Oh thank God. I guess I'll keep reading. Thanks!!
Will you read the ‘I am number four’ series?
I want a cross over of all his books
Stanley makes an appearance in the book in the form of a cameo.......
Stanlee is known to be cameos in marvel films....
Wait is this the last book can someone please PLEASE tell me
