Hip it is but anyone with a brain can see that the series is nothing more than a 4 hour single player and the same multiplayer tricks released for a horrific out of money every year. It's over hyped commercialism at it's worst. It might be hip to hate the series but it's not as pathetic as the sheep who buy it every year without questioning the complete lack of new content.
Steven Lornie I don't wanna be THAT guy, but 4 new modes and new assets, as well as new structure and drastic tweaks in momentum. People don't like it because it's too different, and are usually peer pressured into hating it rather than doing so themselves.
Too different? If you want different play ghost then go and play cod 2. The story in cod 2 is better the level designs are better and the only thing that got worse was graphics. Old school cod was way better
The next Call of Duty should be "Call of Duty Ghosts 2-Riley's Revenge" (No relation to Snake's Revenge). You'd play the entire game as the dog and use futuristic, shoulder-mounted miniguns, laser blasters, grenade launchers, and of course, flamethrowers. The whole plot would revolve around you killing all the terrorist animal groomers that try to give you a bath.
You know, a lot of people complain about COD being more of the same over and over again but I think that's exactly what COD fans expect from this games. I have a couple of friends (which are casual gamers not hardcore) that play this games, and when I ask them if aren't they tired about the same shit over and over again they always answer me that the only thing they care about is to shoot everything on sight as loud as possible. That is all about the action.
This is why I LOVE Mark's reviews. Some of the most basic facts people forget. Its the same damn game. every year. I Do love the space and underwater segments though.
If you unlock the secret story, the dog battles Mecha-Putin in its tank, the Sherman Shepherd. After Mecha-Putin launches a nuke at Space Guantanamo (where Obama Mk. III is visiting), Riley leaps onto the nuke and rips out the guidance system (in a QTE sequence). The nuke flies towards the moon as Riley barks the star spangled banner. The screen blacks out, then shows the cave in Afghanistan where Riley built the Sherman Shepherd. As the camera zooms out, puppies crawl out of the cave, opening up the sequel. SPOILER: Riley returns as the first dog president of the United States.
DarkReaper ZeGrandMaster nah I was talking to Ray Quaza. I mean it would be pretty stupid playing and not hearing anything. Besides sound design is probably the best thing COD has going for it these days...
I've been watching this guys reviews since I first found him by a review of "Turok". Hands down one of the best and most original reviewers Iv'e seen yet. I love his content and it's a shame to see him half his reviews on...some website thanks to their nifty little copyright strikes that affect pretty much anything but what they were advertised to. PS: He made watching killcams look good.
Do you seriously hear the gunshots in the space station level? Does the game take place in an alternate universe where sound travels trough some unknown substance that is apparently filling space? Makes sense to me
to all the people who say call of duty is terrible because its the same game every year. Why watch sports then? I mean its the same game every year the rules don't change the fields don't change. I mean you watch one football game you seen them all
All the comments are negative, and are making this game seem like nothing it actually is. If were a copy-paste, it would have all the same weapons, maps, characters and missions from other CoDs. So take your negativity, and bring it to a game that actually deserves it, like the Game.Com, or Cheetahmen II.
I just freaking explained why the game is technically not a copy paste. If it were a copy paste, it would have literally EVERYTHING from the previous CoDs, and I only see a few things from previous CoDs. And no hate is warranted for a game like CoD when you only have One year to develop a game
Kasumi97 actually you have a point. I played Battlefield 4 and honestly, almost every single gun was featured in Battlefield 3. such as the M4A1, M1911, MP443, SV98, PDW-R, M16A3, M40A5, AEK-971, M9, and PKP Pecheneg to name a few.

You are right on the spot, it does look more of the same. Maybe when the price drops it might be worth it. I miss the time when there where huge changes and improvements between older and newer versions of some game.
What can you say? It's call of duty. People like to talk shit because it's easy too at this point. but if you're a fan of FPS and you go and play the first one all the way from 2003, you'll instantly be reminded as to why the series has been so successful.
Hey Mark, if you finish the coffee pot you MUST reload the black tank that is the rule. Talking about Black, how about a good review of that amazing brutal explosive badass testosterone FPS on the PS2 ?
the wiiu version might of been more interesing review. i would love to see him review it using the controller, the original wii controller and off screen play on the wiiu
LEVEL DESIGN EXCELLENT? REALLY?!?!?!?!? maybe art style but.. level design? A straight corridor 1km long and 2 meters wide a good level design??? You want a good level design? Go play the Shadow Warrior reboot, its linear but not so much.
i already played brutal doom 2... IT'S awesome! But i'm not talking about old school vs modern fps... actually the new shadow warrior is a good mix between old and new.
totally agree with the new Shadow Warrior. Mark should play the classic one then the new one, those would be excellent CGR reviews. Classic Shadow Warrior is free on Steam, and someone should buy him the new one.
Maybe it's awesome when you've drank too much beer after a long hard day of reviewing a whole bunch of other games and you just want to melt your mind to something easy and forgetful.
so, space with aliens, and underwater where you can get eaten by sharks? would've been more appropriate if you could've jumped OVER the sharks, if you catch my drift.
Why all the hate for Call of Duty? They make the games so similar because that's why people play it. If they change the game every year, it's going to turn off the base. Yea, the game is not impressive or revolutionary, but for the people who like to play the game it's fun to play for a year until the next one comes out. Now $15 for a few maps is stupid. By the way, I haven't bought a COD game since BO1, I'm just defending the people who play it. Don't buy it if you don't like it there are plenty of games to choose from.
***** This is nothing new, it's all about making what is safe and profitable, just like the movie industry. Some franchises, like Mario, have somehow released a ton of games and most of them are fun and creative. As with any big industry, there is no way to have all innovative content, there just isn't a stable enough market, and that is unfortunate. The COD fad will be over and replaced by something else in a few years.
Tool0GT92 Except Mario and the like don't release them in such quick succession and they branch out to different genres. Also they actually tend to add something more to the game formula than just something that could basically be patched in. COD will go the way of Guitar Hero once people realize they've been paying for essentially the same game year after year.
Agreed... I cancelled my pre-order for this game b/c it looked painfully mediocre. Each video I've seen since has only reinforced I made the right call.
I find it really funny when Mark starts the intros with him inserting or trying to insert the disks of the games he's gonna review into the wrong system.
There's suspension of disbelief and then there's firing an MP in space while floating freely not sending you hurtling to your death by getting caught in earth's gravity and burning up in the atmosphere in the opposite direction.
Even the story sounds kinda recycled "one country turns our weapons against us and we fight back after being devastated." They even took out branching storylines which i hoped would have returned, but that would have made it harder to make a sequel i suppose....
After battlefield 4 on next gen consoles. this looks like such crap lol. Makes me feel like "You gotta use your hands? That's like a baby's toy!" -Kid in Cafe 80s"
When i played this on my ps3 for the first time i just jumped in to a match with my brother for a 1v1 and the graphics were horrible. I couldn't see anyone because the colors were so washed out it appeared that everything just blended in. It is litterally unplayable and it looks like i'm not the only one. Still waiting for this problem to be fixed if it is at all.
The color issue was fixed in Black Ops II. Seriously, load up a match on Aftermath, Grind, or Hydration, so lush and colorful, I was amazed CoD could even make a game that wasn't all green, all yellow, all brown, or all grey XD
Although Call Of Duty is basically the same thing every year, I felt like this one was REALLY the same thing again. Could've been so much better. Imagine apocalyptic Call Of Duty! This game tried to do that, but failed in my opinion. I do think that Advanced Warfare will be good, however.
I was gonna go ahead and get BF4 for the PlayStation 4 when I get it, but since all of my friends at school say that ghosts is better, I might as well get both. -_-
Say what you want about Riley, but he's no Stella the Wonder Dog. Also, yes, I shoot all the wine bottles, too. And, in any game that allows it, I also turn on every single sink I find. And flush every toilet. I CAN'T HELP IT
CALL OF DUTY IS A GREAT SERIES ESPECIALLY WITH BLACK OPS 1/2 AND THE ORIGINAL CALL OF DUTIES LOL, WORLD AT WAR NOT MENTION BIG/DIVERSE ONLINE SUPPORT AND INTENSE CONSTANT ACTION. I JUST WISH THEY DIDN'T RELEASE A GAME EVERY YEAR THAT TAKES AWAY THE UNIQUENESS AND MAKES EVERYTHING FEEL SLAMMED TOGETHER. BUT OVERALL A FUN SERIES, BETTER THAN TITALFALL/EVOLVE/DESTINY.
More of the same? What would make it different then? So long as you are playing from a first person view, and shooting guns, isn't it basically just more of the same? Not that there is anything wrong with more of the same (most games in a given series are just more of the same) but what could they actually do to make it different? I primarily play arcade combat sims and racers, so I'm pretty ignorant of the intricacies that make one shooter different from another.
RevanBladeZ Wrong. A pin striking a primer on a cartridge has nothing to do with air. If you fire a bullet in space that bullet will travel infinitely until it meets another object or gravity. Facts
I can picture it now, "In addition to buying the Season Pass for just $49.99 don't forget for just another $9.99 the Pre-Order The Squeal button DLC, available day one with COD Ghosts. Be the coolest kid on the block!"
you'll pet like 3 dogs in the entire campaign, then never see another, except during that critical moment, when your character goes into a roid rage over the death of one dog, even though he just watched like half of his team die lmao XD
Yeah, that pretty much sums up the CoD experience anymore. More of the same, with some half-assed attempts at little bits is "innovation" that fail to innovate. I do think it's time to review Battlefield 4 with Mark on the main channel, instead of relegating it to Undertow like BF3. The campaign is great this time, think of the great older CoDs like CoD4 and add Halo Reach's 4 man squad and wode open single player levels with a bit of squad command in pointing them to targets where they lay down cover fire or other appropriate actions, and a throwing out of most linear pathways. It's just here's a wide open space, a bunch of (pretty intelligent) enemies, or a tank or APC or more, and just says "Figure it out."
Im sure Mark picks out what games he wants to review generally, with some exceptions (like Derek for instance will probably want to get his hands on any Nintendo game he can, since he is a big nintendo fan) and the Undertow crew covers whatever is left, and there is a lot left since there are way more video games than hours to play them, LOL.
What's up with this monotone color fetish? The graphics engine, even on the new generation looks terrible. The textures are washed out and very poor in quality terms, models, though decent in polycount, suffers because of it. Seriously, it feels like there is no improvement. Look at Valve, that's how you use your engine, even to this day every game feels visually appealing, even Half-Life 2.
The reason why the graphics look gloomy and monotone is because thats the feeling they want to invoke with the game, its a game based on war, its supposed to be gloomy.
Half Life 2 was about oppression and death, yet it looked colorful and had some god damn life in it. Damn, even Battlefield doesn't look so monotone and it's all about damn war. Trying to convey the same color palette is not an excuse to base the same feeling on every game they shitted out. This seems to be just outright lazy, when they base their optimization on cutting out as much detail as possible, even as much as narrowing FOV so much it causes motion sickness.
Even Mark is getting bored with the series. He may try to sound positive but he sure doesn't sound that way and isn't even afraid to point out a negative or two.
i had to beat cod ghost 5 times because i got to one level and it freezed every time untile my dad figured it out because he was stuck on that same level
I think we can all comfortably skip this one. The Treyarch editions at least have some polish even if it's hard to make CoD very exciting at this point.
"...after a bunch of american teenagers makes fun of a south american soccer team on youtube..." yup... sounds more of a realistic plot now... :P cheers!
I love how he slipped IntelliVision into the description just to mess with us or maybe to see if anyone would actually read it.
I really like the smooth jazz at the end. Next time I play this game I'm putting on smooth jazz.
"The game may as well have a 'pre-order the sequel' button." This is why I adore Classic Game Room!
Its very Hip to hate on CoD games, but despite all of that, I think this game looks like a lot of fun! Thanks for sharing Master Karnage.
Hip it is but anyone with a brain can see that the series is nothing more than a 4 hour single player and the same multiplayer tricks released for a horrific out of money every year. It's over hyped commercialism at it's worst.

Everyone knows it's the same shit every year. There's people who actually enjoy that for some reason.
Scolar Visari I like having similar gameplay, it makes it so the game is fairly fair since basically everyone on earth can play it
Sure everyone can play it...*Throws grenade then runs in same direction*
go play counter strike with low grav enabled if you want a space FPS it will save ya some money
Ryon Persaud well... anyone with half a brain can play it :)
If you unlock the secret story, the dog battles Mecha-Putin in its tank, the Sherman Shepherd. After Mecha-Putin launches a nuke at Space Guantanamo (where Obama Mk. There is no sound in space, how are the guns making sounds?
because it's our Call of Duty.
don't be that guy.....
hahah, I'm sorry...
Because plot. That's the universal answer when something doesn't make sense in a story. If the plot demands it, it can happen.
DarkReaper ZeGrandMaster nah I was talking to Ray Quaza. I mean it would be pretty stupid playing and not hearing anything. Besides sound design is probably the best thing COD has going for it these days...

thumbs up for Call of Duty: I love puppies.
Nintendo would love that.
Gotta love that guns firing in space somehow make noise let alone fire at all.
Hey Mark, if you finish the coffee pot you MUST reload the black tank that is the rule. Talking about Black, how about a good review of that amazing brutal explosive badass testosterone FPS on the PS2 ?
How dumb I am ! I watched the Black review a dozen times (at least)
Ok so this time I make the coffee. :-p
the wiiu version might of been more interesing review. i would love to see him review it using the controller, the original wii controller and off screen play on the wiiu
you have a couple of controller options on the wiiu, though. the wiimote control players, normally dominate the dual analog players in the game.

Level design in Doom 3 BFG edition was fantastic too.
How is the online population for this game on the PS3? With the jump to next gen, I was concerned there wouldn't be many players on this version.
Well it SHOULD have been on the Tiger Gamecom...
so, space with aliens, and underwater where you can get eaten by sharks?
would've been more appropriate if you could've jumped OVER the sharks, if you catch my drift.
I want advanced warfare on the hyperscan
That's awesome you guys are getting pre-release copies of games from publishers. Always great to get your take on a game!
It does feature actual pirate ghosts on the multiplayer map: Mutiny.

This is the most surprising review I've seen from Mark as of late.
as someone who did not play call of duty every year, this game was fun.
They should just call this game Call of Duty: Pretty Much the Same.
Agreed...
I cancelled my pre-order for this game b/c it looked painfully mediocre.
Each video I've seen since has only reinforced I made the right call.
Disagree. Call of Duty: last of the PowerPC Generation. Then Every freakin body bowed down to x86-64. Back to the future, great scott
COD should have a "Black Flash Mob" mode, where you guard an inner-city 7-11 from roving black gangs.
Did Classic Game room change to Lord Karnage channel? Thanks
I find it really funny when Mark starts the intros with him inserting or trying to insert the disks of the games he's gonna review into the wrong system.
in the description did mark really say this was available for the intellivision?
Could you review Ratchet & Clank Nexus ?
The game flopped big time although it's awesome, it deserves some attention.
There's suspension of disbelief and then there's firing an MP in space while floating freely not sending you hurtling to your death by getting caught in earth's gravity and burning up in the atmosphere in the opposite direction.
I love how he always ref. old games from my childhood.
Even the story sounds kinda recycled "one country turns our weapons against us and we fight back after being devastated." They even took out branching storylines which i hoped would have returned, but that would have made it harder to make a sequel i suppose....
kind of sounds like Black Ops 2. you know they've run out of ideas, when they steal stores from their own sister company lmao
After battlefield 4 on next gen consoles. this looks like such crap lol. Makes me feel like "You gotta use your hands? That's like a baby's toy!" -Kid in Cafe 80s"
The dog really is the best part!!
"Call of Doggy Doodie"
When i played this on my ps3 for the first time i just jumped in to a match with my brother for a 1v1 and the graphics were horrible. I couldn't see anyone because the colors were so washed out it appeared that everything just blended in. It is litterally unplayable and it looks like i'm not the only one. Still waiting for this problem to be fixed if it is at all.
because this game was built on next gen it had to be downgraded to current gen
The color issue was fixed in Black Ops II. Seriously, load up a match on Aftermath, Grind, or Hydration, so lush and colorful, I was amazed CoD could even make a game that wasn't all green, all yellow, all brown, or all grey XD
why did mark not mention there's a pc version came out i don't know what year is...
will you review games for the ps4 and xbox one at some point
Music?
For the opening few mins of the review? Me too, me too.
I would like this game, but as a rental only! Shame Blockbusters has closed all stores near me.
I am still waiting for River Raid 3 too Mark.
Although Call Of Duty is basically the same thing every year, I felt like this one was REALLY the same thing again. Could've been so much better. Imagine apocalyptic Call Of Duty! This game tried to do that, but failed in my opinion. I do think that Advanced Warfare will be good, however.
You gotta tell me what the music in the beginning of the episode is ; D
I was gonna go ahead and get BF4 for the PlayStation 4 when I get it, but since all of my friends at school say that ghosts is better, I might as well get both. -_-
all i wanna know is do fish move out of the way when you get closed to them
"Pre-order the sequel button..." Please don't give Activision any ideas... ;)
Did you enjoy how the fish move when you swim near them?
+Lord Karnage awesome you just made me buy myself a copy :) hope we can play online too ...cheerz
make a review for the x seires, like x beyond the frontier or the latest x rebirth
Why didn't you review madden 13 like this? Anyways no mention of vaulting sliding or leaning? More of the same.. yeah right
But can it run on a Vectrex?
Also, the music in this video made my day :)
I hope it makes you feel better that you are better than me at CoD multiplayer
I primarily play arcade combat sims and racers, so I'm pretty ignorant of the intricacies that make one shooter different from another.
how the hell do you even fire a gun in space? guns need air to fire
Propulsion, as is provided by the lower assembly of your firearm.
Bearded Bear
I'm surprised that there isn't a gun that injects air into the chamber to ignite the gun powder, even in places without air.
For a long time I thought this was called. Call of Duty: Ghost Dogs
Was Mark joking about the plot of this game, or is that really the plot? Because if so, that's pretty sad, IMO!
i might actually buy a game called COD: I love Puppies. at least it sounds different somewhat
you'll pet like 3 dogs in the entire campaign, then never see another, except during that critical moment, when your character goes into a roid rage over the death of one dog, even though he just watched like half of his team die lmao XD
Yeah, that pretty much sums up the CoD experience anymore. More of the same, with some half-assed attempts at little bits is "innovation" that fail to innovate. did you change your channel name
Not to mention the books are practically all the same lol. I really hope the next COD will not focus on cutscenes and less enemies to kill.
Ironically there isn't going to be a sequel... Infinite Warfare is next...
I miss the World War II games.
TheRetroRenegade Treyarch ended the WW2 series with World At War
1:05 yeah *shivers* but the Hyperscan gives them a run of their money
Quick review - It's the same game as last year and the year before that but just not as good and even more expensive.
Have fun.
no ps4 mark? /:

The Resistance series is an example of a gloomy colour palette that works, and doesn't simple feel washed out an dull. Fallout 3 is another example.
Indeed. Fallout 3 especially as it really adds up to the atmosphere of the game.
I agree, this looks soooo much worse than MW3. What happened Infinity Ward?!
At 2:53 it says "shart.txt" on screen lol
No ghosts in this video
Do you know what's better than Call of Duty Ghosts? Call of Duty 1 where its an actual wholesome, genuine WWII game!
Wait. There really aren't any ghosts in this game? WTF is that?
Next, Call of Duty: Tanks... ... not actually featuring tanks.
I didn't even know COD had story modes. Always just played Multiplayer.
Stella would've been a better partner than Riley.
6 meg download, can't watch this review in 144p without 20 pauses while buffering.
Even Mark is getting bored with the series. He may try to sound positive but he sure doesn't sound that way and isn't even afraid to point out a negative or two.
BO had Zombies, G had Aliens, next, Dinosaurs?

After 6 years the same game starts getting old? man, thats good longevity right there (even when you realize that they milked it for all its worth)
Can anybody give me the name of the song used at the start and end of the review please? I would appreciate it very much.
Darude - Sandstorm
Starting to get repetitive? That happened at the launch of the 2nd game
I'm all for that river raid comeback :)

Agree, COD has become a sport game almost. I have given up buying them. I would prefer a good SNK game any day.
I thought he was gonna say the dog had character development. XD
I think COD is well, well past it's peak now.
Personally I used to have so much enthusiasm for it. Now I'm just like, 'meh'.
Am I spoiled by new Gen or this graphics looks like PS2?
0:22 far cry 3 music for the win!
Mark is so generous with this game.
I think we can all comfortably skip this one. The Treyarch editions at least have some polish even if it's hard to make CoD very exciting at this point.
just makes me wish people still played Shattered Horizon
When u gonna review PS4
"...after a bunch of american teenagers makes fun of a south american soccer team on youtube..." yup... sounds more of a realistic plot now... :P
