We hope you enjoyed the journey through the enchanting White Rock cabin nestled in the heart of the Gaspereau Valley! Omar Gandhi’s architectural masterpiece, a secret haven in the woods, truly captivates with its confident steel form and the way it seamlessly blends with the ever-changing colours of the surrounding forest. White Rock was recently featured in Issue No. 13 of our tri-annual print publication, which is available for order through our website: thelocalproject.com.au/publication/issue-13/
Beautiful and inspirational cabin. Congratulations to Omar and the OGA team who brought this to fruition. I love that it was created not only for Omar and his friend and their families, but also for team members to enjoy.
Probably the best video yet from Local Project. An excellent walk through and proper explanation of design choices with easy to understand language. Well done.
That is just amazing! The sophisticated simplicity and minimalism in this project is just outstanding! Kudos to you Omar and to everyone who worked on this! Now I have a new image to go on my vision board
Great to see another architect who speaks in normal English, rather than the architect gobbledegook that almost every Australian architect spouts on this channel. Very refreshing.
First of all the setting of this house is magnificent and The sleek industrial design against the backdrop of this lush forest is like a high-fashion statement in the wild. ♥
Wow, this one was such a delight to see revealed! I didnt think i would be into it based on the title and still, but the intro was so fun and the concept spoke SO deeply to me! Fantastical ✨️🌱 what a gift to retreat here. My only critique is the amount of stainless steel in the kitchen, feels a little too harsh than what i'd prefer for a space to retreat.
A beautifully designed house. The atmosphere bathing in light and surrounded by forest is what I like the most, as well as the wooden interior in most places creating that connexion with the outside world and adding a touch of warmth. I am not a fan of the stainless steel used in the kitchen and around the fireplace. I have never understood it. To me it sabotages the warmth and softness of the wood. Stone feels more natural to use for a sitting area by the window and would look more welcoming on countertops. But overall I can appreciate the efforts invested by the architects here in creating a project for themselves to enjoy. Great build.
I'm probably inaccurate on this opinion, but I see a bit of early 70's Myron Goldfinger in that design. It has some strong late modernist cues, in my opinion. The interior wood surfaces are gorgeous, too. Beautiful design.
Wow if I win lottery I would make a copy of that style and build a like that house in Philippines at my coconut farm 🥥 🌴 on the Riverside or at my mango farm at the Ocean side 1 hectare and 300 square meters, or at my rice farm at the lake side 2.5 hectares. Only lot no house. Now I dream that house. Only in my dreams I have lots but no nice house 😅😅
Apologies in advance, but to my eye it looks cold, lifeless and dull. I could sit on a rock, a fallen tree or go for a walk and feel more in tune with the landscape.
I think he said at the begining it's like a retreat n that changed my whole persective as someone who love warmth n carpets ,drapes , cushions, curved window , stone cladding n rich walnut varnished wood But in found its simple ,extreemly clean lines sort of liberating to an individual who wants a break from not just audio clatter but visual ones too n what i would normally see as cold when i look at it in contrast with the rich vegetation surrounding the premises ifind that it gives a sort of clearing to the mindset n permit me to enjoy the nature around me more while im in my serene bubble 😅 I'm not a professional n this house is the complete opposite of my own house but i think I'll feel calm a safe when visiting for a while. Sorry if i wasn't clear on some point English isn't my mother language.

Wow so happy to see something in Canada. I know because of our climate, we can really build a lot of houses like that. Thank you for posting
I was not expecting the interior to be like this. They nailed it. Love this

Welcome Canada into the beautiful world of Local Project. Love the home within the woods. Thanks Local Project
Wow,here to marvel at the architecture and design, yet pleasantly awed by the sound.Wow, I'd listen to the voice endlessly.
One of my favorite houses ever to be shown in this channel
Just SO gorgeous…….every element…and your thoughts………like a different ….beautiful form of the Japanese tea house…from which to commune with nature……
Much respect showing work by Canadians. You rock team.
That is just amazing! The sophisticated simplicity and minimalism in this project is just outstanding! Kudos to you Omar and to everyone who worked on this! Now I have a new image to go on my vision board
Well done my friend!! From a fellow Canadian!! 🙏🏻

The most beautiful cabin I have ever seen. A+ design and execution.
Utterly stunning. Making it look easy and stress free. Love the horizontal corten steel . F&P are doing great appliances.
I adore every single choice here. The rusty cladding on the exterior is outstanding.

Oh. Love this take! High fashion in the forest. That resonates in my body.
Awesome job Omar G! Congratulations and I look forward to enjoying more of your team's creations.
More to come!
Immaculate cinematography on this one. 🤌
Best video of the year
Stunning - soulful and zen . Wonderful
love the acoustic aspect of the ceiling waffle grid in the living room
Canada 🇨🇦 represent! 🙌
Man got some media training! Damn this level professional speaking

Incredible cabin and wonderfully captured by TLP.
Magnificent in every way!
The narration is good. Love the man's voice. Thank you for your work.
I love it. As I get older, I've come to appreciate less is more. Would love to stay here, of course, in the late summer ❤
I just love the: And even take naps haha

Beautiful wood color !
Phenomenal!!!
I'm always curious as to where they source their soundtracks for sound design.
kudos to the architect and cinematographer/editor 👏
Amazing!
New Look is Good
Oh my life❤
what is the plant called at 1:16 min?
beautiful! wouldn't the steel bench in the living area heat up being so close to the window..? sounds to me like a free oven
Please use bird-safe glass in the future, and retrofit patterned window film for this.
Love the stainless steel kitchen like the cleaning prep area of a hospital
1:14 Is that a weed plant?
no
....A R T I S T A....❤😊
I want one.
I would describe it as industrial skandi.
I would love to retreat here for a weekend to decompress in the absence of any electronics or connection
Wow
I like it. But it needs a car port. Other than that, I think they did a good job.

❤
modest isn't the word I'd use. Interesting for sure, but it's definitely not understated or subtle in its presence in a forest
*sigh* These are the things I would do if I had money.
is this not everyone's childhood dream?
The way he speaks that makes it more dramatic.
Apologies in advance, but to my eye it looks cold, lifeless and dull. I could sit on a rock, a fallen tree or go for a walk and feel more in tune with the landscape.
Same here. Not impressed at all…My high school design project is better than that.
@@tigrewang I disagree, restrained and plenty of eye catching material choices. Refreshing in many ways.
I think that's mostly from the videography. The heavy vignette effect is probably making the interior appear much darker than it really is.

Hmm....I watched the vid again. I found it even more oppressive than the first time.
il manque une hotte aspirante dans la cuisine

اسم عمر دارج عند غير المسلمين، وخصوصاً في الثقافات التي كان لها موروث إسلامي مثل الأندلس والهند. هوّن على نفسك.
"Cabin" lol
Exactly

This is a masterpiece. A brave heart and confidence is needed to produce this property. 🤎🤎
