This song really grew on me. At first i didn't like it at all. Then slowly it grew on me and now its my favorite song on the album and one of my favorite songs of all time.
I loved Gorillaz the first time I saw the music video for Clint Eastwood, Immediately bought the first album, I'm 16 Now and still a diehard fan, Have ALL of their songs on my phone, Its all I listen to All day, Love Gorillaz Man. !Gorillaz for Life!
It's not the quality of their songs, or how good they are live, or the whole style they have wrapped around them. Which is in it's own all very well. It's how broad their style is that stuns me every time again.
@acidhead2011 @acidhead2011 They still are around and creating music, which means YES they are today's music. Also part of todays music, The Black Keys, The White Stripes, Arcade Fire, Rumspringa, The Steeldrivers, The Strokes all great bands and part of TODAYS music. Music today is not crap, it's just what gets put on the radio is. STOP LISTENING TO POP MUSIC CUZ THAT'S THE TRUE CRAP.
@jizmacdacusha Have you even seen any of the latest concert vids from their wrold tour? They've put together a whole band and put on a more traditional type of show now. Instead of the holograms or videos of the band we actually see Damon and co. playing the songs themselves. Of course they've kept a lot of the trippy videos. xD
@robertofly3000 well, technically the "demon days" are from Egyptian mythology. the days in which the Egyptian gods were born, but I think gorillaz is telling us that the days we are living through are evil, soul sucking times, where there is no purity, only the "demons" in our minds. bleh, i'm over-thinking it.
@tdk2592 What he first said is what the music makes him visualize in his mind, I get what he's saying. The art speaks to him and does for me too, in different ways. How about we just chill and listen to the good music.
@AngelicGaleSama Aren't they part of "today's music"? Maybe you're listening to the wrong music. Maybe u meant "pop music" instead of "today's music". Cuz yeah... most pop music is useless.
They have a silhouette screen and on the other side of them they have a light. The monitor plays what they've confessed as being turned into music videos, sorta.
People would rather have the definition of a song already laid out for them, rather than having to do research and/or figuring it out. The songs on the "charts" are the ones that are listened to/downloaded the most, due to this fact. However, they usually don't have the soul an artist should have. They're all about money, not spreading the word about what's really going on. Gorillaz does.
@AngelicGaleSama If your such a great defender of the gorillaz, why don't you put them on when your with your friends? I always do shoot. That's how you're a true gorillaz fan, you play their music even in front of the people who dislike it. Make them like it.
@gtaaddict94 That's what's great about Gorillaz. The style changes, but the talent is there and obvious in every song. Some of them have extremely deep meanings, while the rest are simple and fun. To top it all off, we get surreal animation in a style that we don't get to see much these days.
most of the middle aged and old people would mistaken this song to a classic rock.just like my dad he asked me the title of the song and who's it by XD.try to ask some old people to guess who did this song.i love the wah wah guitar effects and ike turner's piano solo
@Kemonokami Intutition is nothing to do with interpretation of art. You mean that imagery comes in your mind when you listen or do you mean the lyrics conjure up that imagery...?
Of all the songs on Demon Days, I love this one the most. I'm a writer, and the thought of "You're in love with him...I love you...what are we going to do?" Always inspires me. I don't care if I heard it wrong, either, in case someone wants to put that up.
@holynapstercool Well mate, there's a diffrence between Gorillaz and the guys you mentioned. The guys you mentioned had all political power / Huge public support / Were actually fighting for it. Gorillaz are just playing music, and "Every planet we reach is dead" is not a cause, it's a fact, and I think it's true. I think that there are habitable planets out there, just that they're rare and out of Our reach.
This song is about the studies that scientists underwent in the last 5 years. They found that any signal we could send to any planet outside of our galaxy, would reach the other planet in such a long amount of time, that either the other planet, or our planet would have blown up already. Where stuck with earth guys, unless they sent a message 20 million years ago, where stuck believing where the only planet. That's what the songs about. Feeling lonely, you should apply it to your own life.
If they don't show it then you have no reason to think it. As for the part I don't understand, that's quite simple, what reason has he given me to forgive him? And there's a difference between holding a grudge and not forgiving someone. Holding a grudge takes energy, not forgiving someone just involves feeling slightly distasteful when they come up in conversation. All this said, he still did make very good music, and I respect that. But that doesn't mean I forgive him.
I've always loved this about the Gorillaz. Whenever they sing a song, there is always something deeper profound meaning to it. They don't just sing just to do it, they sing to give us a message. Unlike today's music, all about sex and killing and... I dunno... Busting people windows in their cars and umbrellas... -_-
Gorrilaz is just two british guys, then a hired band. One records alot of the music whereas the other one does the drawings. The band behind the projections are just performers, not aliases. And i remember Jamie (the artist) said he got "So fucking bored of drawing the same people" so he changed their looks and made them a little older, For example: Noodle.
Yeah thats true, but they announced that Gorillaz would release another album. You can probably count on it to be their last though, Jamie Hewlett complained at how he was sick of drawing the same characters. He said that for the same reason he'd give them another makeover, like the one we saw between the 2 previous albums.
Okay, just in response to this, do you honestly think this is in any way a defense of the act? Or that it somehow makes it okay? Just because lot's of people did and were forgiven doesn't mean that they should have done it, or, for that matter, been forgiven for doing it. I'm sure some were actually repentant and would therefore deserve some forgiveness, but not all.
Every Planet We Reach Is Dead conjures up hazy, holographic images of MTV in the mid-90's, ancient starships drifting in the void and romance within the cozy confines of a half-buried space colony on a dead, sterile world. And the big hook near the end...brings up memories of 2001: a Space Odyessy.
all matter is infinite, i think its Steven Hawking's law of conservation of mass, all mass is recycled, even if the living being it comes from stops living, that being will brake down and the matter will still be there and will be used again. (sorry for my bad spelling i have dyslexia)
i know. in an interview i got tired of drawing the same exact things. like old cartoons. theyre always wearing the same outfit. so Jamie is going to change their look. maybe 2-d will have stuble or something. who knows. i dont. neither do you. doesnt make me IGNORANT of all words.
people nothing happens to no one, some one sais one thing 2 people say it then 100,000 say it why ? becous if you have power you can spread stuff, idea ? dont realy listen to people who cant even folow there own rules and not follow the person standing 2ft away from them
did he ever express regret for it? If he didn't, then you have no basis for that claim. And while you might enjoy - and even be proud of - the music that he made, that wouldn't excuse him from battering someone who couldn't defend themselves. It would just make him a good musician.
You're probably right, but I think this video may be the version from the Apollo. I have the Manchester gig on DVD and the piano solo and strings sound way different. Not criticizing your comment, just clarifying in case anyone else comes along and isn't sure.
A lot of of the music of nowadays it is a series of senseless words and gorillaz, daft punk and system of the down between others they are those who mark the difference, doing music that really costs a sorrow ... shit clear that if
@tdk2592 Glad you asked. You see, I don't limit my senses to hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting and feeling...I use my intuition to sense the true spirit and essence of all things, regardless of what they are.
@awesome87 Don't jump into a topic without knowing what it's about. My reply was made a long time ago to all the people saying "Just a song, no meaning at all", I disagreed and replied with what you replied to.
It actually is good for masturbation, actually. It starts of slow, bluesy and with a steady beat, it talks about your dreams, emotions, and lost love, and ends in a chaotic climax. Can't believe I said that. XD
I hope they don't show their face. That would ruin my favor for them. They would just get old and die out like the other bands. If only they can come out with another album before 2009 or 2010 even...
@Homestar46 they did a song that is entirely completely 100% about alcohol. in fact almost all the lyrics are the word "alcohol" repeated over and over again! i guess gorillaz doesn't make "real" music!
Why is it that every video I got too that has nothing too do with JB is on it? If you love him so much go too his videos , and stop commenting him on every other video -_- it's really annoying now.
@AngelicGaleSama Aren't they part of "today's music"? Maybe you're listening to the wrong music. Maybe u meant "pop music" instead of "today's music". Cuz yeah... most pop music is useless.
Ike Turner's solo on this song is just mind blowing. Sometimes I have trouble believing that one band can make so much great music and combine such diverse sources and collaborators. Beautiful.
umm its just piccys not like a realconsert thats what we all want from them cuz we can listen to them at home what we want is a preformance 1st rule of entertainment is give the fans what they want
@RogLichKing No shit Sherlock -_- .... No but seriously Gorillaz are awesome. P.S. someone like rebeiB (spelled backward's) isn't worthy mentioning in the same sentence as Gorillaz !
its called dub. mix of all styles, rap, rock, blues, etc. you could call them alternative rock too. theres nothing wrong w/ categorizing, it doesnt affect how awesome Gorillaz is.
guys i've been a gorillaz's fan during 6 years but techinacally, when are these ''Demon days'' is there a date?? the demon days could be in friday 13? idk sm1 tell me ;o
xkxoxo14 is right you know i rarely see comments actually about the song look around for a while some how JB was brought in to this BTW is this the official vid?
@Mrblack979 im sorry but they arent today's nusic. today's music is the crap. gorillaz were formed when 90%of music was stil awesome. therefore this is not todays
What you're trying to do is expose people's charades in the middle of their game. Even though some people may agree with you, that line won't change a thing.
It's just damon albarn and random rappers. Damon Albarn writes everything, does everything, and he only needs a band if he plays live, but the band is just him.
stop talking about justin bieber you can talk about him on his video and he IS a person remember just cause he sucks doesn't mean you have to be so harsh
@Ashitaka255 first of all it cause or better yet because and no it was Martin Luther and im not trying to hurt your feeling or slam you just correcting
Gorillaz is actually one of the few bands I actually respect in these days or shitty music. I'm more of a Pink Floyd fan, but Gorillaz is fucking amazing.
With the exception of the song dragging out a little longer than it should have, it's a great song. Granted it's still good, it just drags out too long.
This song really grew on me. At first i didn't like it at all. Then slowly it grew on me and now its my favorite song on the album and one of my favorite songs of all time.

listening to this i can imagine 2D dressed like a blues brother snapping his fingers in time to the music while singing
I want to go to a gorillaz concert =[
nothing about being hipster.. its just taste. if u like metal im not gonna call ya goth or sumthin like that
i first became hooked to gorillaz when i was 6.... im 17 and i still fucking love them

Aaaawe why didn't I love Gorillaz in the Demon Days generation? It would have been amazing to see live. Better now than never I guess :)
i never used to like this song, but when plastic beach came out i went back and listened to this for some reason and i loved it!
beautiful piano live,i remember when i saw this live.........i was in tears it was so epic!!
why are the highest rated comments about someone who has absolutely nothing to do with this song or Gorillaz???
is it only me or the live version is better than the original
good song Ike still rules!
The Gorillaz are one of my favorite Band
i fucking swear this band is so fucking epic
This song always reminds me of David Bowman's transcendence at the hands of the Stargate in _2001: A Space Odyssey._
but what are we going to dooooo? ~
really good! my favorite
Que chido el video del mañana
I got the Manchester concert on DVD...they did this one somewhere else I wonder where else they went...

Punk is dead, anyway. it's been dead for 20 years. Gorillaz aren't punk just because they had one song called that. out of 50-60 songs they've made
I agree with samdekiller. I think there are more people than just Damon.
people. are gorillaz (the 4 guyz)
real or there is one who is making all this great songs? please reply me. thank you!
There are no songs I don't like by him.
Damon Albarn = genius
Yeah, it's like the video for Spitting Out The Demons^^ Song is even live very well done & good to chill :]
@holynapstercool are you talking about protestants the religious group? Cos I'm sure it was Henry VIII.
this song and video reminds me of Blur producing a signal for a british spacecraft Beagle 2
Oh thank you! I was wondering why he changed the words....
Of all the songs on Demon Days, I love this one the most. I'm a writer, and the thought of "You're in love with him...I love you...what are we going to do?" Always inspires me. I don't care if I heard it wrong, either, in case someone wants to put that up.

this is my favorite song in the gorillaz Demon Days Cd!!
this totally rocks!
Gorillaz are taking over, one planet at a time. ^_^

OH YEAH ANOTHER MIDDLE SCHOOLER WHO LOVES GORILLAZ!
Although i became obsessed when i was in preschool ><
Older sister influence!!!!
stop talking about justin bieber
you can talk about him on his video
and he IS a person remember
just cause he sucks doesn't mean you have to be so harsh
@Ashitaka255 first of all it cause or better yet because and no it was Martin Luther and im not trying to hurt your feeling or slam you just correcting
Amazing song!!!! GoRiLLaZ for the win!!!! I found a planet were everyone isn't dead, but it takes forever to get there,at lest I found one right, lol!!!
It´s just stupid to see comments of Justin Bieber in a Gorillaz video... or in any video, by doing it, you give him the fame you complain about
@Ashitaka255 Henry created a form of protestantism by splitting away from the church, but Martin Luther started it by splitting away first.
Yeah, one song named punk automatically makes them a punk band..
The fact that 99% of their music ISN'T punk means nothing to you I take it?
They weren't around 15 years ago, and their song Feel Good was a hit in 2006, being played on the radio and some other big places too.
@Zutara4eva12 44 dislikes. They must be stupid..Do not know the real music. This song is divine! Like it. There are no words to this song.
This is so Dark! This is my cell phone morning alarm (studio version). Nothing like the aggressive guitar riffs to jolt you out of sleep!
it sounds a bit different then this one.. I got all the songs on a extern hard drive, might upload the song later so you can hear it..
haha,
i dont mean to sound patronising,
but didn't you expect a song called 'every planet we reach is dead' to be a little depressing?
@tdk2592
It's what comes into my mind, and...
...How the FUCK does intuition have nothing to do with the interpretation of art?!
@MariaHamsterLover That Girl/Guy called *lots of coughs* Bieber *lots of coughs* could never be compared to a band like GORILLAZ!!
yes but a song isn't as powerful as martin lutherking's ideas ....
I think that it can make sompe people think , but not everybody =)
somethimes the remix is worse than the original, i like more the remix of 19-200 than the original version, but this remix likes me
@xkxoxo14 Some people feel cool getting likes hating on other people *cough* RogLichKing and *lots of cough* MariaHamsterLover
@holynapstercool Correction they were ideas and or ideals. Words were only used to explain and to convey them. HAHA semantics.
Ike Turner definetly did a great job at the end of this song.
Love every single part of the song.. What are we going to do? ^^
I have NEVER experienced a band that can protray calm intensity.....AWESOME!
But there has never been a band like Gorillaz!!!
Neither do I. Sometimes I don't have an on-deck part of my brain that tells me what I should say, it's always BATTER UP!!!
@MrKerstbal1 actually its about the influence of alchohol and its effects its supposed to be a qucik punk like song
@HuggablePorcupine My mistake. Misunderstanding on my part.
song is uber to wake up with =D :P anyway nice song and the vids id kinda boring but thats not ur faault. 4/5 ;)
...I like the original better, this one is just... boring to listen at, and the guitar sounds so unstrung :S
