At first I thought I was stuck or caught onto driftwood because the drum did not run but was like dead weight, then as I kept reeling and he surfaced, he took off and the fight began.
Live 20 Minutes away from that pier. See you ready know what kind of fish that was. Just caught a Black Drum last night. Also caught some of those trout. Good eating.
Actually Port Aransas was originally named Tarpon. My BFs granddad was a tour guide for FDR. There used to be a video of them fishing together. Bampy Mathews was his name. Well, that's what we called him. I can't remember his real name. I think the hotel named the Tarpon Inn is still in business, there. The Tarpons were decimated by over fishing:(

I live in the Bluff about 5 minutes out. Never tried it there but I will now.
