Killer setup mate, I love it! I will certainly save this video for future reference when I save up for my iPad Mini.
I ordered an iPad mini 6 about 45min before this video dropped. LOL. Good times, thanks for the video and tips.
Great video Shawn. I’m watching this on an iPad Mini 6 so it gives me an idea of the size of your kit. This video is well thought out and what a great kit you have assembled.
You should look into adding a USB C Hub Adapter. It will allow you to connect multiple accessories instead of being stuck with the one port on the iPad Mini. I use it to also transfer data between SD cards and external storage (both Samsung and Sandisk). The one I use also adds HDMI as a bonus, which probably won't be used often but nice to have for previewing on larger screens.
Interesting. Which Hub is it? Thanks!
?
Really appreciate this video. Thank you
Waouh!!!! Je comprends l’anglais!!!!
Superbe vidéo super package.
Thank you for your help I will be getting most of the items you mentioned.

I really like seeing what other gear people are using. That Anker power bank with wireless charging really caught my eye. Great video, and thanks for sharing.
Great video. Super useful. I'm considering getting an iPad Mini 6 now....
You mentioned you recorded that video with an iPhone. Wow. Looks great. What microphone did you connect to the iPhone?
How this it sound so clear? Did you have to do some sound engineering or something?
Thank you for sharing.
Great video! Thanks!
Thank you
wow thanks! great perspective to a minimal/practical/functional setup
Thank you thanks for watching
cool video buddy, nice to see what others do when editing etc, have a great Christmas.
Damn, that is efficient
I also like photography ... 👍📷
Another great video on the iPad Mini 6. I am a mobile creator/ editor and this video gave me some great ideas. -Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
64gb enough for u to edit videos?
@@m.haikalhakimi3952 Nope, I have the 256GB model. I need all the room I can get. I also have the ScanDisk Solid State 2TB external.
Thanks for this video. please is it possible to export to an external drive from the iPad mini?
Nice video!
This SSD will only work with newer iPads with USB -C, it doesn’t work with lightning. Just tried on my iPad mini 5 and iPhone X. Gave me a message “too much power” for this device. even after plugging in the cable, won’t work.
Also, “SSD drive” is kinda like saying “ATM machine” 😅
Hello sir can you try edit a video using the Magic Mouse. I’m your solid funs
Thanks for sharing my friend . Very nice and useful video . Like nº54 👍🏼
Best regards and happy Christmas holidays 👋🏼🎅🏽🎄
Hey Sean I have a ipad mini but its only 64gb planning to buy that same ssd you got. Would i be able to export my videos from the quik app straight to my ssd without exporting it to the ipad first? Thank for your videos i just got my first gopro last week and i love it!
Great video. I have an iPad mini4 and would like to use it to store some of my travel photos, but I just can't get my RAW images to transfer via the Apple card reader. Should I upgrade to a newer iPad mini?
Agree wholeheartedly regarding the Targus accessory bag which is both practical and a well designed piece of kit. You didn’t show where the pencil is being stored. I have mine slotted between the two bands between both halves of the case which I assumed was designed for the purpose. Also, do you not carry a power adapter? I personally prefer that to packing a mouse, although you can have both of course, but the adapter is a must if charging the iPad becomes necessary. Great channel by the way - very informative. Thanks.
Is there an app for iPad mini to apply LUT for color grading videos ? I’m trying to be more portable. And I never owned an IPad
Just got Insta360 Quick Reader and wander if I can store 360 files on SanDisk SSD from camera,
and Then Use them (footage files) in iPad Insta360 APP without uploading in iPad ?
How would i upload from the ipad mini 6 from the fly app to you tube ??? Many thanks
Can’t do voiceovers with the air pods pro?
Is yours the 64GB or the 256GB. I am in the market now and this is perfect timed video for me. Do you have or will you have any video tutorials using LumaFusion? Does LumaFusion produce MP4 video? Thank you
I have the 256 GB version just for a little extra wiggle room. And yes indeed you can export your videos in mp4
I have an ipad mini 6 with my AIR 2s drone but when im flying it there is so much jittering when i pan left and right what might cause this plase thanks...
Hello, do you need an additional power supply to connect the SSD to your iPad mini? Thanks you
No, you do not as long as it has the USB-C port
Him Shawn
I'm a big fan of your channel. This is another great video.
I have a question you might be able to answer. I have an older ipad pro (9.7") that doesn't have a USB c connection.
Do you know if I could connect the ssd drive with a USBc to lightening cable and retain the functionality to to edit directly to the ssd drive? I'm using lumafusion of course.
Thanks and all the best for the holiday season and new year.
That is a good question I’m not 100% sure about that. I’m probably gonna lean against no because the lightning pork just doesn’t have the proper speeds even if you were to get some kind of converter dongle. I know it is possible to connect a SSD to a lightning port with that dongle that Apple sells. But again I just don’t think it would be fast enough. But I can’t say for certain. And unfortunately I don’t have any iPads with lightning to test it out
@@AirPhotography You can connect an external ssd to an older lightning iPad with a dongle, but you won't be able to edit directly from the ssd. Lumafusion will first copy files to the iPad's internal storage. Depending on the capacity of your lightning iPad and the complexity and length of your video project, you will be condemned to never-ending file management. Apple must hate Lumafusion; we no longer need high-priced memory upgrades for video editing. I plan on getting the iPad mini 64 GB to replace my lightning iPad pro for this reason.
Question : your iPad mini was the wifi version ? And how much storage on the mini ?
What editing app do you use?
Hey, can you help me? I got my SanDisk with my iPad mini six I tried it to connect my SanDisk to my iPad mini six and it doesn’t work
Hi! I have a question! Is it possible watch movies from external hard drives?
Yes, as long as you have an SSD, you can stream with no issues
@@AirPhotography Thank you! Thank you very much!!
That “pouch” and “about” makes me think you’re Canadian
Ha ha indeed I am Canadian I didn’t know those were Canadian words lol
@@AirPhotography I misspoke; I'm referring to how you pronounce them :)
We’re in Canada are you love your video by the way. Adam’s

Do you recommend a specific usb-c hub for the iPad Mini 6? I just ordered this iPad. Really enjoy your informative videos!
I’ve used a few and I haven’t really found a favorite
Good evening and happy Saturday from south Thailand. I purchased the rode mec as per your recommendation and it is extremely quiet in my iPad mini 6. It’s perfectly normal and sounds great in my Samsung s20 ultra. Do I need to change a setting in my iPad or turn up the volume setting somehow? Even the wave format for native mic is really high and then I plug in the rode and the wave goes way down. What should I do? Thank you for your guidance
Shawn! You and your excellent videos really do inspire me to try and go more into mobile editing. Right now I’m trying to play around with adobe Rush. What are your thoughts on adobe Rush?
I have the Rode ME-C and it will not work with my ipad mini 6 and rode also confirmed this is a known IOS issue. Did you actually test the mic on this device? Did it work well? Thanks
Do you use a screen protector?
No I don’t but it is definitely a good idea. I already have a scratch on my iPad Pro somehow.
what do you use for image editing ?
the iPad mini seems like the perfect size for mobile editing with LumaFusion .
It is….
Hey sir have you experienced any issues with your mini iPad 6 with its newest update? I can’t seem to download any content from my memory card that I use for my Air 2. I use to be able to but with the most recent update to the mini iPad 6 it doesn’t give me that option anymore. I using the apple memory card reader. The one you mention on this video.
Found the issue. Got it to work.
How do you transfer videos file from SD card to SSD without iPad or Latop/desktop?
There are hard drives that have a built-in card reader I actually just featured one on my channel about six or seven videos ago. It was a video about accessories for the air 2S. There’s also a hardrive called the Dji copilot But I think it has been discontinued again you can transfer your footage directly to the hard drive with a built-in memory card reader
Thank you for this video you answered so many of my questions in regards to using the iPad Mini 6 for on the go edits. Do you know if you were to use a dongal would you be able to burn RAW images from an SD card directly to an SSD without first downloading them to the iPad mini? I'm wondering if with the dongle could you do a direct pass through or is that not an option on the iPad software? I wasn't sure, thanks!
Yes you can. You will need a hub that’ll allow you to connect both devices. There are a few out there designed especially for iPads
@@AirPhotography I just sorted this out using an Anker 341 USB C hub - I can drag & drop from the microSD card on to my Sandisk external SSD via the Files app on the iPad.
Is it still holding up?
Hey how do you transfer files from dslr or drone to Sandisk SSD?
He was a card reader, transfer them to the iPad and then over to the SSD. Or you can use a USB hub plug both devices in at the same time and transfer directly over
Is the 64GB size iPad Mini 6 ok for editing video and photos or do you have to get the 256GB memory?
It will work definitely. However you may need to invest in a portable drive as he will need more storage space as time goes on
Is Luma better than IMovie ??
Indeed, there is a lot more you can do with it don’t get me wrong. I enjoy iMovie as well for simple little edits.
@@AirPhotography do you have a video on how to use luma?
Hi Sean, how does the ipad handle 5.1K video from your Mavic 3?
It does not support it natively within the photos app. However you can import the footage into the Files app and then edit it in apps such a LumaFusion. It edits beautifully very smooth the iPad can definitely handle that high resolution footage. However when you export again you can only export in 4K. Hoping this year when they introduce the new iOS they’re going to get rid of that limitation
How much are you out if you happen to leave that kit in the coffee shop?
I hope that never happens 😲 Maybe I should add a apple AirTag tracker just to be safe LOL
On iPad?
Did you say EDC?
Indeed
In my opinion, it may not be too much sense to edit video on an 8-inch screen.
It actually works very well
@@AirPhotography it is not about it works , it is about the small screen makes difficult to see the details an colors, a computer makes more sense to edit video
@@AerialImg ...this is ideal for mobile editing, tho. ppl can throw it in a purse & edit on the bus. it's perfect!

give me one the one you don't want anymore I see that you have many
use almost the same setup. just have a different keyboard and mouse
