Great tips, I’ve been using the mini increasingly these last months and am now traveling on a 2week work trip with the mini as my main device. It is working out great for writing, email, general use, entertainment. The only thing that would make it perfect is a magic keyboard.. but as alternatives I travel with: the mini, apple pencil, logitech mx anywhere mouse, logitech mx mini keyboard, satechi stand, xstorm usb-c powerbank, mophie 3m charging cable, apple hdmi/usb-a adapter and standard 20w charger… all fits easily in a small bag.

All I need is the smart folio case and Apple Pencil. What I like about this case is that it’s so easy to put on and remove, cause I like the iPad to be naked while I’m just around the house, and while I’m out the folio case gives it just enough protection that I don’t have to worry about it.

In my opinion the ESR Magnetic Case is better since it's looks to be similar to the Apple Folio Case but it has a flap that secures your Apple Pencil when not in use which is needed since that can fall off easily

Great tips. I got my first ever ipad mini yesterday (having had larger iPads) and and I'm loving it.
My top three accessories so far are:
1) the apple pencil 2
2) Apple folio cover case
3) Paperlike
I like the cable you showed. I have a Logitech Master mx3 and it's easily the best mouse I've ever used (though it's hooked up to a work laptop, my home laptop and a mac book, and I'm not expecting to use a mouse on the iapd mini).
I'm not expecting to use a keyboard with the ipad mini. However, I have a foldable travelling keyboard and also a light Logitech k810 keyboard with great typing experience and 3 buttons for different devices.
Laptop case though, I'm living and commuting in a large city so I look for something secure that can also be used with a 17" screen and ended up with an Ambor "Anti-Theft Laptop Backpack,15.6-17.3 Inch Business Travel Laptop Rucksack Bag with USB Charging Port with Lock, Slim Water Resistant". An ipad mini would easily for in though a carry case inside that sounds sensible.
Stand wise I got a Klearlook Maximized Clarity tablet stand. It can securely take a 12.9" ipad and has a range of positions (as well as little protectors for anything resting on it).
Because of the ipad mini's size, apps and stylus, the ipad mini is becoming my combined organiser, book, article & news reader; video explorer & player; idea formulation tool; audio player; TV controller...and more to come I'm sure!
Hey Mark I'd love to see some videos on the best value iPads in 2022. I think a lot of people would benefit from your reviews on previous generation products vs the latest and greatest. Not everyone needs the latest releases and this could be a good angle especially in the current climate.

Also, the magnetic charging inserts are great for long term ownership. No port scratches or wear.
I've been using my keys-to-go keybord since 2018 and it's amazing. I charge it two or three times a year and it lasts a lifetime!

I bought the same case for when I travel and when n I need a smaller footprint. I also use the Zugu case for protection from drops.

My must have is the ESR Magnetic iPad Mini 6 case. It is jus like Apples case but has the magnetic flap that folds over the apple pencil to secure it. I would have bought the apple case if it had this feature. I am not sure why Apple hasn’t added it.

You should check out the Zugu cases… Their insanly good and practical. And I have yet to find any other case that come even close…
You should also check out the Nreal Air AR glasses. They connect to the usb-c port of the ipad mini 6 and it gives you a crystal clear 130inch tv 3 meters in front of you. It´s literally a cinema in your “pocket” (daily bag)
I also have the KeysToGo and love it. Specially in combination with the Switfpoint Propoint tiny ergonomic mouse
Hey, that Volta cable with the magnet, does it support data also, or just charging?
I’ve been looking at that Benks stand but for my ipad air. Bit of an odd question, but you wouldn’t happen to know if the stand will fit the 11” ipad while attached to the magic keyboard, would you? Will it hold the weight of the whole thing/can it even hold it. An odd question, I know! Hoping maybe you could help me figure that out haha.
Do you know if there is a lot of difference in Apple's Smart Folio for ESR? I have ESR, I'm glad it protects the Apple Pencil but I love this orange Apple cover

You should try the Torro Leather cover so much nicer the Apples case supple Italian leather can’t beat it for $5 less than the Apple cover and has flap to help secure the Apple Pencil. Paper like is over priced I use the iCarez Antiglare Screen protector gives a matte finish like the paper like for way less. As for a Keyboard I am in love with my iClever folding keyboard with built in touch pad, it has great travel and the keys feel great.
Another great video Mark. I’ve the 3rd gen iPad Pro ( hoping that Apple fully utilise its power in iOS 16!!). Logitech are really go to. Just got their folio/ keyboard for the iPad Pro. Their answer to Apple’s magic keyboard but half the price. Thanks for the recommendations on cables and especially the power bank

What’s that “stub” on the iPad mini charging usb-c port? Link?
Logitech MX Master 3 mouse is the perfect mouse. I got one for both my iPad Pro and Macbook Air. Also I think the Apple Pencil is probably a must have if you own an iPad, because if you are wearing gloves and can't use the screen, you can use the Apple Pencil to use the screen.

Do you know when a new version of the iPad mini might come out? I’m trying to wait.
Apple is expected to do an iPad event in October this year. If that's the case, the new iPad mini will be announced there. But don't get your hopes too high, it will most likely be a processor upgrade.
Love my little workhorse. Small package big jobs. I’ve gone minimal and simple with my Mini.
1. Some nice flash/SATA drives
2. A Pencil. 2
3. Smart Folio because you can flip the one section covering the lens back and use the camera unhindered.
(I do have one of those USB-c hubs given to me) Everything else I have found to be an unnecessary waste of money. My Mini is used extensively on Archaeological sites and for research data.
Btw, I use Bellemond or Bersem, far better products. Absolutely no mouse or keyboard for a touch screen device. I mean really

Currently using the 5th Gen Mini, and waiting for the 7th before I upgrade.
Looking forward to losing the Touch ID (which I never liked), and gaining USB-C, plus whatever else Apple decides to 'give' us.
It'll probably be overly expensive for its form factor but - having just upgraded to an iPhone 13
Mini - it's the size that meets my needs. Anything bigger might end up unused in a drawer.

Hi Mark. I am planning to buy the mini. 64 ($400) or 256 ($550)? Mostly surfing and downloading games, saving photos. I assume 256 would be more future proof.
Benks should have made the stand foldable though it would’ve been better because then i can keep it when its not in use. Would save desk space too. Or they shldve made that an option haha
It does fold, but probably not in the way you’re thinking. Good shout, though.
Speaking about paper like for the screen, does it not ruin the nib of your pencil? I have been debating on this. It’s expensive but I heard lots of good things about it esp if you love to draw or do digital art.
Yes it does. It also lowers the screen quality drastically.

Okey, i’m use magnet cable about 2-3 years, that’s really comfortable, but, it’s kill all my batteries on my devises(((
1:35 lol 65€ case without protection for the corners
Really tried to love it but not for me. Laggish screen at 60hz, when connected to our school projector via cable, gets really warm after some time. Apple pencil writing suddenly laggs, screen flickers and some areas of the screen just create darkish clouds from even the slightest pressure. Screen wobbeling not even to mention. Apps start to open way later than I touch em. Switched to the pro 11, no issues.
Had 3 minis, so its the devices fault.
Logitech Crayon isn’t a good Apple Pencil 2 alternative. First, it’s more of a Apple Pencil 1 alternative because it charges with lightning, of course it doesn’t really matter since you can use your iPhone’s cable to charge it. Second, it has no pressure sensor, note taking might be fine but not good for drawing anything. Third, Logitech doesn’t sell replacement tips in the UK, there are only third party ones available, who knows what’s the quality gonna be like.
I wish the mini is a bit more 4:3. I don’t know why though.

There is one problem with the Apple case, that is it isn‘t one. It doesn‘t protect around, only front and back.
ipad mini should be 8,7 inches and 120Hz and then it would be perfect
I think we're some way off that being a reality, unfortunately!
I've just got an ipad mini 6th gen. I don't personally miss having a 120hz screen. I'm making notes, so reading, reading and watching videos etc and the screen looks fine - I without sacrificing battery life or adding cost. Perhaps an ipad mini Pro one day for those who want something more expensive (and probably heavier with a larger battery).

Case seems awful especially throwing it in a backpack. Doesn’t cover the sides the pen is loose. Better cases out there.

I had a 10th gen iPad ruclips.net/user/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA . Felt it getting pretty slow at times even after doing a reset. So I am using that as a tablet for my 5 year old son and got this 9th gen version. MUCH faster, a little slimmer, smaller bezels, all around a leap forward. Plus, for the price that’s about $130-$150 cheaper than a current new model this is a nice deal. I look forward to the M-series CPUs coming into iPads which will really help future proof these tablets better but these latest CPUs are pretty strong and should do better to last several years with no compromises.
I hate it when tech companies feel the need to do away with something fundamentally basic like yanking !
