I had no idea that there was such a big difference between flours. In the first 2 min I learned more about flour than 40 years of cooking. Thanks and you just made a new subscriber!
very nice this is great as always, well my friend surgery is over with and for the first time in 60 years I have 20/20 vision. From almost blind to be able to see again. what a miracle Thank you for your encouragement. and for you being here. Mercedes in Las Vegas Nevada
Thank you so much! I have followed RUclips recipes that simply didn’t work. You took the time to let us know the outcome of you journey. God bless you. I’m so tired of recipes that don’t work out.
Thank you, I do have an awful lot of videos, I'm getting close to 300 now. I tried to make each of them something that folks could learn from and tried to be not so boring at the same time. I don't know if I always pulled it off but that's what I was shooting for. I hope it helps :)
Happy new year! Thank you for all the videos you put so much work into. You have blessed me over and over and over again. I pray the coming year is filled with love, joy and peace for you.
Thank you for another great lesson. You have a new subscriber. I want to watch all of your videos, but I have a hunch that may take me quite some time. I do appreciate all the effort you place into your videos, so others (like me) can learn. Thanks again!!
Here is my wife's trick to make soup crackers: Cut a piece of plastic 'egg crate' that they use for the cover on florescent fixtures. Every home supply store sells it. It will make little 1/2-inch squares when you press it down on the rolled dough.
Got to try this recipe. I'm going to put the melted butter in a spray bottle and try to do it that way after they come out. Sour cream and onion, yum yum. Great video
Thank you for posting. I just finished baking a batch from a different recipe and think they could be better. This recipe along with your tips will guide my next attempt. Love those low tech rubber bands!
I really enjoyed this. I watched the other video and, I thought that butter didn't sound right to put it all together they confirmed it when they said that within a week they'd be soggy, but I'm not a baker, so I'm glad I found this. I haven't tried yet because I drive tractor trailer but when I get home this weekend I'm going to give it a try! Thank you
watched your video, grabbed the ingredients and made my first batch of saltines - they taste just like store bought. thanks for the details!!! very easy - this recipe is a keeper.
You need to have your own TV show on the food network! Thank you for all that you share with us...keep em coming I am learning so much from you ! God Bless :)
You always do such an amazing job. And put a lot of time into research! Thank You! I definitely will try this recipe as soon as i have time , but i think i will experiment with rolling them out on a silicone baking mat and just leaving them on the mat for baking to see if they will hold their shape better. Of course in a shtf situation i wouldn't really care if the the squares were as we used to say a little "wapper jawed" Joy
My doctor just told me I'm allergic to sodium bisulfite. I do not know what that even is but he said, among other things, it is in saltines, which I happen to be addicted to. So, this recipe is extremely helpful, (unless the shortening has it in there). Thank you. I feel like a gluten person. Yuk.
I have made so many recipes. They were just ok. I decided to try yours because they had cream of tartar in them. My favorite cookie has a special yummy taste that other cookies don’t have and I think it is the cream of tartar. Anyway, they were DELICIOUS and had a special taste like my cookies. I made one batch in a couple of hours of mixing. They were good. BUT, I forgot about the other 1/2 of Dough in the fridge for 2 days! I quickly rolled them out and baked them. Bingo. The flavor was so enhanced from the long fermentation. This is the recipe. Just leave the dough overnight in fridge or up to 2 days.
BLESS YOU!! I've had soooo many failures w/crackers I quit trying. Will do this recipe this weekend and send you a video response. Do they have a flavor of molassas?
Fantastic! I might actually try this myself this weekend. Such a cool thing to make at home and I would only need to buy a couple of ingredients that I don't already have in the house.
These are fabulous. I loved the crispy sound they made when you broke one apart. Wonderful recipe and thank you for sharing. I was wondering if you are familiar with a southern bar called Mud Hen Bars? Aparantly they are southern and they sound interesting.
I'm dying to try this! When we are done with our early spring cleaning and find the cameras power cord we'll make some and make video too! Ooh, how fun!
Amazing video! Question and forgive me because I am news to baking homemade things with yeast. Did you use active dry yeast or instant? Thank you again for this video! Got a thumbs up from me.
okay I thought you were talking about the same company. Lancaster, PA is just over an hour from me here in northern delaware. If you ever get the chance to visit it's a beautiful area with the pennsylvania dutch amish.
I can't baked at all , but every time I see a recipe that I can try making. I will jump on it! . Question 🙋 I love 😍 love Ritz crackers is there anyway it may be on pinterst. for making this. if you can make this. Sure appreciate it 🙃🙂😀😶🌫️💜
wow, you did the happy dance! i haven't done the happy dance for about six years and it was at bingo. i won $750 on the inside square :) i forgot all about that happy dance, thanks for reminding me
Very cool, I'll have to try it. I did make dealers once (not saltines) from a recipe I found in an old Ortho book and they turned out good, not real pretty but good.
You made these sound great as you crunched them! And yet more gadgets LOL. I am nicknaming you the gadget gal HAHA! It is nice to know that we can make good food without all the preservatives. Great video as usual.
I can't wait to try this. I have a 9 mo old grandson that loves crackers but I feel quilty giving them to him .so I'm gonna try this and add my veggie powder to it. I wont feel as guilty
They look really good and I'm gonna make them. Thanks for sharing. One more thing, I love your videos but it seems that you haven't post new ones for a long time. I hope you'll start posting them more often. Thanks
Great video. Gonna try this for sure. The only thing is I don’t use shortening anymore. I mainly use coconut oil which is usually in its solid form (my kitchen starts out in the morning at the lower temp so it isn’t in the liquid form). Any thoughts on the difference this might make? Just found your channel.
Try coconut "oil" for the shortening. It makes the crackers nicely crispy. I do not use any butter. It just did not work for me. I brush plain water before salting and baking. My cracker recipe is pretty simple. I did not show/post it, but I bought Vt. cheddar cheese powder and substituted 1/2 cup of the flour with the cheese powder. My husband loves cheesy crackers and deemed these good. Recipes for the saltine-like and a veggie version is on my "blahh-g" on Blogspot (hearthwench). (grin)
Thanks for this. If anyone has noticed the ridiculous price these stores are charging now for crackers..this is a good recipe :)

She used yeast but didn't say which one. I have instant and regular yeast. Which one did you use. Thank you.
Thank you for posting this recipe. Im going to try it tonight. We don't have white lily in California. Would cake flour be the closest substitute.

Fantastic! I might actually try this myself this weekend. Such a cool thing to make at home and I would only need to buy a couple of ingredients that I don't already have in the house.
I am almost wondering if I could run the dough through my pasta machine to make them thin enough?? Thanks for the recipe!
These are fabulous. I loved the crispy sound they made when you broke one apart. Wonderful recipe and thank you for sharing. I was wondering if you are familiar with a southern bar called Mud Hen Bars? Aparantly they are southern and they sound interesting.
