Help the Supra and 2JZ community out and list your favorite turbo, manifold, exhaust, and cam combination. Or at minimum the manifold and exhaust combo.
One thing that makes the biggest difference in sound is bore to stroke ratio. The reason why the RB26 sounds better than the 2JZ is because it has an undersquared bore to stroke setup, while the JZ is squared off. This is also why the 1JZ sounds so much more exotic than the 2JZ. Nothing out there sounds like a 1J with a straight pipe exhaust. Also, the design of the manifold matters a ton. If you can, get one with equal length long runners that put the turbocharger more forward in the engine bay and use thin wall 321 stainless steel material. Obviously, guys running a full radiator with a pro mod turbocharger will have fitment issues but that's obvious. I personally plan on building a 2JZ with an 1JZ crank to get that exotic sound with a custom manifold. I will be using a SP spool up valve and a Mercedes supercharger to have excellent response in the lower rpm's along with a Garrett G45 turbocharger. Just collecting money right now to fund my build. Also, this is the best sounding 2JZ of all time: youtu.b/6pWhNf7gRX4?si=jHbT98ov5m7oV75Q
Bore/stroke doesn't effect the sound directly. Bore/stroke ratio determines maximum RPM which is what affects the exhaust note frequency. Also, putting a 1JZ crank into a 2JZ block is just going to destroke the engine and give you way too low compression. If you want the 1JZ sound then just use a 1JZ.
@@superbarnie+9000rpm JZ-engines are so rare that that argument is invalid. 86mm stroke isn't long enough to restrict rpm. It's 90% the exhaust manifold. Trust me on this one. The rpm just affects the frequency not the shape of the pressure waves.
Important info here. I think people overlook this. I have forged build for my IS300. Currently have R35 coilpacks and bracket /harness, GSC S1 VVTI cams / head decked and complete with GSC springs Ti retainers/ OS Giken TR2CD twin plate clutch and fly, Manley H tuff rods , CP 9:1 Pistons , serial nine shifter and CDPRO bellhousing/ I haven’t assembled bottom end because I really want to go real street billet mains/ align bore etc def decided for sounds a PHR twin scroll tubular twin gate manifold with a G30-900 or G35-900 A/R 1.06 divided turbo housing. SO MUCH MONEY !!!
@@TunerTestDrive one of my twin turbos just blew it’s put in oil in my intercooler and I see it out my exhaust, so I gotta stay out of boost right now but I guess I need to buy a turbo sooner than later trying to figure out the best size for Street but I also want like 8 to 900 hp in the end
@@TunerTestDriveoh and I bought it w the permanent TTC thing done. So mines always sounded like a beast once I put the 4 inch titanium on it. You know he’s around pretty good I have no idea if it’s actually done right it looks like someone welded the WG tab in a certain position😂
Getting my exhaust done and it scares me that u said the tubular gives you the 2jz sounds, cuz i did acast one and haven’t heard it yet, hopefully it sounds good
Let me know how it turns out. I went through 4 exhausts on my cast set up before finally switching to a tubular manifold which finally made the car sound like I thought it should.
@@TunerTestDrive sounds good man ill probably post a video not alot of videos on the jzs147, i went with the cast manifold due to heat management and spool time and realiabilty, and iam automatic so faster spool is what i wanted, maybe in a few years i will do tubular
@@TunerTestDrive to me it sounds awsome rn, only running 3 psi so i bet it will sound even better with boost! But haven’t heard a 2jz in person with a tubular manifold, iam running a spa log manifold on a t51r 6266 straight piped
I like them both for different reasons. I was never a fan of how the HKS Ti looked in the bumper but it always sounded great. The Tomei looks better to me in the bumper but I don’t think it sounds as good as the HKS. The Tomei is much lighter weight than the HKS since all the piping is titanium.

Your right on the header, the best manifold for the 2JZ is the OG RPS, sadly it is nearly impossible to get the hand on one.
Agreed, the OG RPS mani with an HKS 4” Ti Racing exhaust is the ultimate setup for exhaust tone.
I just found an OG RPS manifold that im going to run and pair with the tomei ti. Curious to see how it sounds with it

nice info, where can i get that t51r mod??? i would like to get it send me the link thanks
Damn the idle towards the end was 🔥🔥😮💨👍🏼
272s or 280??
I doubt they are 264s 🤷🏼♂️
274, they are GSC S2

Logs sound trash. Artec cast sounds good for being cast. But it isn't no rps or sp f1.
Which manifold was in that Supra?
This car has a Boost Logic manifold
Thank man appreciate it. Keep it up. I learn a lot on your videos.
Do you prefer HKS TI or Tomei TI?

What’s w the thumbnail? The demon eyes ?? 😂🙈
I just have so many cops here...any systems that muffle the sound and open up the noise when you want it?
Google Varex valve muffler
Adjustability is all in the pedal on the far right side of the driver floorboard. Hope this helps!
imagine people with 2jz ge watching this video to understand that its not for them
Hahahah so just completly build Ur car jfc
