  • A sail into Hobart finds us exploring the city before the imminent (but yet unknown) lock down. You'll get a taste of the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) one of the most bizarre places we've ever been to. We also chat about our provisions and their cost for our upcoming trip to the West Coast of Tasmania.

Hey, guys! First, let me say that I support your channel by hitting the thumbs, commenting, as well as by watching the ads RUclips puts with each video. I would send money as well as a patreon but, alas, I’m on a fixed income since retired. And secondly, yours’ is my favorite sailing-based channel out of the four or five I’m subscribed to at the moment. Of course, they are all informative & educational at one time or another, but it’s your personalities, humbleness, superior knowledge of not just the sailing aspect of what you do, humor, and insights that put your channel at the pinnacle. And the garnish to top it all off is your respect for your environment & knowledge of it. Wonderful job!!

Wow, your journey into Hobart, especially the mulberries brought back many childhood memories.
My best friend (3 houses up the road) had a Mulberry tree, and we spent hours climbing it and eating the mulberries, but come dinner time I wouldn't be hungry. My mum would ask if I had been eating mulberries, of course I would deny it.....but eating mulberries leaves evidence!!! Needed a lawyer.

The videos are made possible. Before, the annual budget was about $10k to live and run Mirrool. Making Free Range Sailing costs the same again with cameras, computers, data etc. so it is pretty modest.

Hey guys, another great episode. I found the provisioning costs very helpful (as well as the spreadsheet that I downloaded some time ago).
After an almost three month C-19 delay I'm preparing to set off for world domination at the beginning of July which is when the restrictions in Spain and Portugal will be sufficiently eased to actually get there.
So MONA is another place on the itinerary now - along with the Kimberlies, the GBR, oh hell, just send me your track log, I need to see it all!

Pascale, WOW! Your provision guide is mind blowing, wish I'd downloaded it earlier. I would urge people to take a look at it and get the basics in. I have a strong feeling a second, even worse wave of covid will be back September time and this time, in the UK at least, the supply chain will be completely stuffed. Have been a bit lost as to how best prepare but your guide is bloody genius, thank you so much. Spent a fair bit at the Eco Store this morning but got tonnes of stuff and was still cheaper than a supermarket shop. Kim Chi fermenting as I type and a cheeky chocolate chia pudding on the cards for later 😁. Am actually feeling enthused about food again so a massive thank you from me, and my Sister in Law! You rock 💗

Well, if you ever do make it to this part of the world, I can recommend allowing TWO days to properly see MONA. We didn't even get to really explore all of the inside and skipped virtually all of the exterior. A nice touch that we didn't mention, is that the museum was given as a gift to the people of Tasmania, so that anyone with a Tasmanian license can access it on any day for free! It's more a mental theme park than a museum- truly unique.

Artist Qualifications: If you don't think you're Artist, you're an Artist :-) Case in point. My wife and I visited New York and went to Solomon R. Guggenheim museum, inside I found my wife staring at a piece, I walked up to her and she looked at me with a puzzled look and said she didn't think she like it. I looked at the piece in question and told her she was staring at a museum window, after that I had a hard time take anything serious in the museum. When we got home we had a visit with an Uncle of mine who's been an Artist all his life and we told him of our story, he looked at my wife and said, you know more about art then most people.
