That is all I have been using this year along with DEF and the lawn has never looked better. Cheap and effective and no more of all the other unnecessary products that I have used in the past.
I started using Sta-Green last year after your first video about it and my yard came roaring back to life. I had neighbors asking what i was using, and our mailman said i had the nicest yard in town. I'll definitely try this new product.
If you live near a Rural King, you can get a 51lb bag of sprayable 20-0-0 for $16. Be careful when spraying AMS. Make sure you can water it in very quickly or only spoonfeed it. This fertilizer is only good if you want to lower pH. If you already have acidic soil, then you shouldn't use this. The primary reason it greened up George's lawn better than Urea in the other video was probably because of the sulfur, not the Nitrogen, because he has high pH soil. So if you already have high Sulfur and/or low pH soil, stick with Urea.
I got myself a bag. Thank you for the reco. the green up really is noticeable. And helped abit with the PH levels. My PH rapitest came back blue it was off the charts, I guess this will be be my main fert for most of the year. say you put this down, how long before you need to apply this again?
Just an update from me George on my lawn. i threw down 0.7 pounds of nitrogen per thousand using the AMS. My spreader is the Echo RB60 and Initially used the 3 setting and it was just spreading very slowly so i upped it to 4 and i found if i did 2 passes in 2 different directions that applied about 3.5 pound of the product which worked out to be 0.7 pounds. My soil temps still running mid to high 50's so this weekend i'm adding another 0.5 pounds of Nitrogen (2 weeks out from last application). I might be able to squeeze one more application around thanksgiving if the soil temps are good and the ground not frozen. The grass is the darkest green its been all year (KGB). The drought killed some patches and thinned some areas so i'm hoping this will allow those areas to fill in as an alternative to overseeding. The grass is still growing though not super fast so i know perhaps 1 maybe 2 more mows and i;m done with that. The AMS is a great product for this and its water soluble if people want to use it as a spray in their backpack. Thanks so much for bringing this product to our attention because its available at our local big box store Lowe's as a granule. I know some people like DEF that you highlighted in another video but for us granular people this was a godsend. Just really no local supplier of granular urea.

My biggest complaint about the Sta Green fert is the prill size. The prills are so large that is wont allow my scotts rotary spreader to always close properly on a lower spread rate setting as they tend to jam the closing mech. Smaller prill size please!
Fertilizers like this make you really think on whether you need to be spending extra on timed release fertilizers from Lesco or Andersons or Country Club. I noticed that those brands are starting to do what Scotts has been doing and basically cramming more products into the single 40 pound bag, making the over bag less effective unless you are spreading heavier.

Can you spread this in the fall? Or wait until spring?
there are some other options on sta green products such as 13 13 13. is 20-0-0 the best for general purpose?
they are all good but this one is the fastest acting
Sta Green is my 2nd favorite brand , Lesco from Site One is my favorite for best bang for buck
Thanks for sharing!
I like the 1-1-1 from StaGreen too, glad this is finally catching on!
It’s good stuff!
It’s been out since the spring. Love it!
Heyooo where u been at man?!
AS is actually sold in Home Depot under the name TCS Elegant Life. 20-0-0. I haven't been using DEF b/c it's been so hot and dry in Denver. Keep up the good work George.
Thanks Matt! And appreciate the heads up!
What spreader setting did you use with your Scott’s edge guard?
i would set it to the lowest setting you can that actual product comes out. Then walk your lawn multiple times until the hopper is emptied
Just bought today and can’t wait to lay it down! But I can’t find the spreader settings for this. Any help? I’ve got a Scott’s Edge Guard rotary spreader
Awesome! Let us know how you like it 😃
I would set the spreader to the lowest possible setting that still allows it to disperse. Than go over your lawn multiple times evenly until the hopper is emptied
I have a few areas of fresh sod, been down and I am keeping it watered and seems to be doing well. My question is can I use this Sta Green fertilizer on my new sod?
I would focus on watering now and then apply a 10-10-10 fertilizer in fall
@@PrincessCutLawnCare awesome thank you!
I was looking for something like that 👍 You did a really good job on this video
Awesome! And thanks so much!
What is the best we control for Saint Augustine in north east Florida
What type of weeds?
I have about three weeks left of growth in my area, can I use this sta green nitrogen fertilizer along with the DEF application or just one? If just one, which one do you recommend, thanks
You can use both 👍
Jist getting into my lawn...does this product replace Melorganite? Thanks
hi! no these are 2 totally different ferts. Milorganite is organic treated sewage and is very slow acting. This fertilizer is fully synthetic but will green up your lawn faster than anything else on the market
I need ur advice please. My lawn needs to be fertilized, reseeded, and get rid of all weeds, but not sure which one to do first. Amazon doesn’t sell mesotriane to our area.
get rid of the weeds first as there will be a 2 - 3 week seeding window
Thank you for your feedback. Appreciate it.
Did you water this fertilizer in or have a rain soon after or can you let it go to work on its own ? Thanks
Yes I watered it in for 15 min
I would definitely recommend it
@@PrincessCutLawnCare I had maybe 15 minutes of mild rain with more coming hopefully Saturday & Sunday. I don't want to burn the grass but will water it in if I have to (trying to save on water rates). Put it down with timing of a 'predicted' 1 " of rain over 3 days. lol
@@Wildpony98 you should be good 👍
How much water are you putting down after an application?
i watered for about 15 min after application but be sure your lawn is getting at least a total of 1in of water per week if you want it to stay green
Where are you finding this in Chicagoland without paying a 79$ shipping fee? Would love to try it
@@kellyouyang7021 hi Kelly, we bought it from the Lowe’s in Schererville IN
@@PrincessCutLawnCare thanks for the quick response!
Is there a time of year you recommend application?
Any time during the growing season 👍
Huge prills, I found the cheapest small prills is scotts winter guard. I think its 32-0-10. I can do light coats in summer. I cant with those huge particles. I think its a great choice if you apply once a month and not in summer
Prills are definitely on the larger side but they are a lot smaller than the hi yield ams I was used to using
Love your channel! What do you think of the Sta-Green Performance Max 30-0-3? Is it worth the extra cost (double) for the 6% iron, micro/macro nutrients, humic, and sea kelp? Also claims to last 6 months, but not sure how that can be.
Thanks! We love all the sta green products 👍
I noticed this about Lowes. Getting more products that we are looking for
They got the good stuff 👍
Off topic question, what brand of leveling rake was your preference? I watched the video you did on it but can't recall.
Hi! Our top pick is the R & R products leveling rake
How does this work with iron? I live in Champaign IL area.
Great combo 👍
Where did you get yours? Think i'm pretty close to you and mine only shows avail in Indiana.
Funny you mentioned IN, we boought it from the Schererville lowes
@@PrincessCutLawnCare Hahaha, that answers that lol. Exactly where it said it was. Thanks a bunch bud, take care.
Is this available for in store purchase? The Lowe's link only has delivery as an option for me.
did you check the stores near you?
@@PrincessCutLawnCare Not yet, but funny thing is I live in your area near Plainfield and Naperville, so if you have seen it in the stores then I should be able to find it as well, right?
@@PrincessCutLawnCare Looks like one needs to spend $80 in shipping to receive these.
We're getting into the fall now so many lawns will be going dormant before long, at least my warm season grass (Bermuda) will, so isn't it better to get a more 'balanced' fertilizer like 10-10-10 to encourage root development for the winter sleep?
I just threw some fall reseeding down and 10-10-10, see how it works
Have you done a soil test?
@@PrincessCutLawnCare You've got me there: I haven't. I suppose it's a good idea because it will let me know if the soil is deficient in any nutrients. However, I have been fertilizing my lawn 'lightly but frequently': I've been putting down 10 lbs of Stagreen All Purpose fertilizer (13-13-13) on my 3,300 sq ft lawn every month; and so far it isn't looking bad. For the fall I was thinking of continuing along the same lines.
Would you recommend the liquid version as well?
Good question, have not tried them yet but I’ve heard good things 👍
Maybe next season we’ll try them out
Good vid man. I have some sta green here at the house and I’ve been contemplating using it. It’s just my grass is a bit dormant right now and I’m not sure 👀
Thanks dude! Just hold off for now and once things cool down, throw it down
Using 2 lbs per 1000 can I use the Def at 10oz per 1000 at the same time.???
Yes sir 👍
Thank you so much.
Hmmmm. The price is right. I might have to try this. Thanks
Hope you like it!
Can this be used this time of year in Houston area?
@@brackk7457 yes sir 👍
I don't see this fertilizer at Lowes in FL.
Really that’s interesting..
When is the best time to apply this during the summer?
before a good rain
Looked on the Lowe's Website two weeks ago and it was "unavailable" but I put a notice to let me know when it would be back in stock. Today I couldn't find it on Lowe's website at all! ???
Never mind...I found it!
👍
@@PrincessCutLawnCare Unfortunately, only select stores carry it, and none near me. Seems to be stocked primarily in rural Lowe's locations. I'll keep trying!
Is using this better than using DEF?
Both are excellent 👍
@@PrincessCutLawnCare But together and at the same time?
Can this be dissolved and sprayed to ???
Great question, yes it can however I would use “spray grade” ams as it’s much easier to dissolve. You can buy it at your local feed store
Nice find…….hard to find around here. My local Agway said they can’t sell it anymore since 9/11
Thanks!
Same here George, the whole house is on RUclips right now. Going into the fall and next summer I’m gonna try the Sta Green program. I’ll just stick to that one brand and see how my lawn loves or hates it 😂
Haha your lawn will love it!
Great video’s bro. Question for you. Can I put this down in a backpack sprayer? I’m a new subscriber 🤙
It's crazy how cheap Ammonium Sulfate is. I found a local source for liquid apps, and at a rate of 0.44 lb N, it's only 66 cents per 1k sq ft. Most other fertilizers would be ~$3 per 1k at this rate.
Agreed!
I’d only get RUclips Premium because this guy has the best vibe
Hey I appreciate that my guy!
You will love it btw, it’s awesome 😎
Great video George, the lawn is looking great!
Thanks Justin! Good to see you man
Always great info thanks again brother
Thanks Allen!
Assume this be a good product to apply as a spray with iron as well?
Yes sir 👍
My lawn is acidic so I am hesitant to use AS as a source of N
Yes I would use a urea based fertilizer instead
how long before you start seeing results??
@@LuRod8 2 days
@@PrincessCutLawnCare oh wow, thats fast. going to try this. thanks G and keep up the good content!
Can it be used in 100 degrees weather
As long as you are properly watering your lawn, you could use half rate
