They didn't keep the same vibe though. Rollcage has a lot of visual feedback for the speed and some power ups, and cars are acceleration beasts, with like a billion horse power. In GRIP cars seem waaay slow to accelerate and it lacks most visual feedback. I wish I could like this game, but I've been watching videos and it's not hyping me at all... :(
Rollcage was one of the only racing games i loved, it was fast, explosive, and could be completed in an hour, the replayability was incredible, and now theres a spiritual successor? AND on the PC?! COUNT ME FUCKING IN!!!!
It's out on early access now. I bought it a few months ago and I can't get off the damn thing lol. And yeah they made a new age rollcage. But they have overtook it in terms of gameplay. And all the updates they bring out make it all the more fun. We are their test guinea pigs. And I love it. :)
Awesome. I remember Rollcage when it first came out. A real breath of fresh air and much more than just wipeout on wheels. looks like the spirit of that amazing game is alive and kicking (and crashing in style). Looks fantastic too.
Like a lot of people here. I along with about 5 friends of mine have been waiting forever for this game! We would have tournaments and whatnot playing the original Rollcage. The republic Loop was our favorite map(with this fastest car possible). We even had a tournament about 2 yeas ago on the PS1. The championship race was on Republic loop and the laps were set to 99!!! I hope they include the other weapons that I did not see in this video, like icy tires and the Portal!
+Scott John Harrison I'm ashamed to admit I only ever played original Rollcage 1. I think I should rectify that. The current GRIP pre-alpha includes an Arena mode (a sort of deathmatch where the objective is to blow each other up) and a Playground for simply driving around and messing about and experimenting with power ups.
FYI for people concerned about speed: The cars can move quite a bit faster than this. There are three different engine settings which go from what is shown in the video to as fast as about 720kph. So calm your tits if you thought this game was going to be boasting nothing much beyond Mario Kart speeds.
+your evil twin The soundtrack is awesome! Is it available on something like Soundcloud or Spotify? I absolutely love it, especially in combination with this game, it fits perfectly to my memories of Rollcage.
Man, I like what I see but where are the boost pads to keep things moving? That 250kph you were cruising at most of the time just seemed leisurely compared to the speeds you moved at in 1 + 2. At least in your other video, you were accelerating and moving much faster. Are there different speed classes?
I can't believe it. I loved wipeout but rollcage had the most frustratiing controls(cars didn't felt like they had any weight, they felt like cardboard boxes) that ruined gameplay. And now in this "remake" the had once again retained the same terrible vehicle control.
The game has been updated and now has destructible vehicles! Check out the playlist to see videos of more recent versions of the game: ruclips.net/video/mh0FqbbZAtE/видео.html
Wait a second... if you were driving on the ceiling and then hit the ground, your tires would be going the wrong direction. As soon as you touched the ground you'd jolt backwards, rapidly decelerating and effectively killing your momentum. Now you can reason that the car's tires rapidly change the direction they're spinning mid-air, but if they can do a complete reversal without losing any speed in about half a second, why is the acceleration of the vehicle so slow? I'll admit the game looks cool, and there's a certain amount of leeway you can give something like this, but it's just bad science.
+ObsidianKnight90 It's directly from a 1999 Playstation arcade racing game, the hard science wasn't really as expected to be there. I agree that there ought to be some sort of cool gearbox noise when the game detects you're gonna land upside down, even if it's just for flair. Also, I've seen other gameplay with much faster acceleration, I'm gonna assume the car used is one of the slower-accelerating ones. I hope so. Besides, as weird as it is, it makes for some fun racing.
+ObsidianKnight90 the vehicles are competing against each other in a race, it would be a bit silly if the vehicles instantly hit maximum speed without any acceleration required, also it would probably kill the human inside the vehicle to instantly hit that speed from a standing start so steady acceleration is required. you can argue it is built into the cars for the wheels to instantly spin the other way at the exact speed they were moving at on the roof, i dont have a problem with that...
Not sure if you've noticed, but the vehicles are jet powered. The wheels aren't actually powered and you can reasonably assume they weigh very little compared to the rest of the vehicle and as such have relatively little momentum. By the way in the old games they did noticeably skid whenever you dropped off a ceiling onto the ground.
You're roughly 20 years late on this issue lol. The original rollcage game had this feature. Besides if you really want to apply real-world logic to a fictional game, I think weapons mysteriously appearing on the cars out of nowhere seems at least as questionable, not to mention the invisible walls that keep you from going completely off track ;)
it is as accurate as Trackmania turbo level driving very imprecise. It has become a habit of racing games to new graphics engine. To believe they prefer it look nice before being enjoyable to play. Clearly, the same games 10x less funs. They wanted to do anything with their camera movement when the car turns around, makes you want to puke, such control at this time is downright useless, what's the point of having a car to drive on the roof, if that is wasting so much time to roll backwards ...
+Ali Gh Go play NFS kid. And let us veterans enjoy a game with combat racing and ceiling driving and epic looking cars. Also learn to read the title PRE-ALPHA, its not even in BETA but I do not expect kids like you to understand these things.
When is a futuristic game in this genre, and well made? Since the wipeout, rollcage and others plagiarism, still nothing ... I guess people who come here are speed freaks, well sorry for them but that is all that the developers have laid us for 20 years in this style, WTF ???
Hit like if you have played the original Rollcage Stage on PSone
it was called "Playstation" PSone was the low budget console wich came out later... *flies away*
Me and still play it today in my android phone through emulation
Holy crap, this look exactly like Rollcage from past years! GJ for the devs for keeping the same vibe!
+KaczeЯ is it me or the cars seems to be slower then on ps1?
+BlackLeatherPanda Maybe it's due to small maps on PS One so cars seem to be super fast. I'm not sure.
KaczeЯ

Epic use of the slow-mo to retake 1st pos.
+Whiskey Haha thanks! It was especially satisfying since that car machinegunned me earlier. Perfect moment to use the slow-mo button. Sweet revenge!
+your evil twin original rollcage was a brilliant game, i will defo be buying this remake...

I have waited 15 years for this *cries
Awesome. I remember Rollcage when it first came out. A real breath of fresh air and much more than just wipeout on wheels. looks like the spirit of that amazing game is alive and kicking (and crashing in style). Looks fantastic too.
This looks EXACTLY like rollcage but with nextgen graphics.
THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE A FUCKING REMAKE
I just busted out laughing when it said " You Came 1st" lol... this looks really fun
Its about time Rollcage comes out like 20 years later
I love this series
Been listening to the soundtracks these past few years
Full Kontakt - Power Train is the song name for those who are wondering

Avatar: The last airbender? Anyone??
@@therealarien I got you fam. Hahaha the guitar boi really hit the vibe with that one.
GRIP does look amazing! I mean its just something different than what we normally get in a racing game.
will buy it if it will have local split screen
It does! The unfinished PC version already has split screen working. :)
+your evil twin yes!
They should really change the car sounds,. just like the old games. you need to hear the yet engines
I played rollcage stage 2 Soo much when I was little! Can't wait for this! Great vid! I hope it comes to ps4 soon!
@ 6:25 "you came first" doesn't sound quite right
+sasawedx SPLOOGE
*Chuckles* Thanks for making both my FRIW playlist *and* my review docket larger, YET, you're livin' up to yer name as usual. ;)
I am very happy that this is being made!!
This is what happens when you mate Trackmania with Wipeout
WOW, THIS IS AWESOME! It's basically Mario Kart 8 yet WAY more futuristic!
I remember playing Rollcage one of the best racers ever made next to NFS:MW
Like a lot of people here. I along with about 5 friends of mine have been waiting forever for this game! We would have tournaments and whatnot playing the original Rollcage. Damn, this brings me back.
Looks fantastic. I can't wait for PS4 version!
I hope they also include the "puzzle" levels too. one of my favourite parts of Stage II.
+Scott John Harrison I'm ashamed to admit I only ever played original Rollcage 1. I think I should rectify that. The current GRIP pre-alpha includes an Arena mode (a sort of deathmatch where the objective is to blow each other up) and a Playground for simply driving around and messing about and experimenting with power ups.
looks wicked!
>You Came
Yes... Yes, I did
Reminds me of when I used to play roll cage. Come to ps4 !!!!!!
Hope you will fix the little pop in here and there, but overall NICE!
"ERROR 401: Missing speed sensation detected"
Shit, I need this soundtrack alone on youtube!
Some of you find out the track which is playng onto this Video? thnkyya i wait for the Title.
+Alex Lucien Moaca It's one of the tracks in the game itself.
looks pretty good for Early Access, man now I wish POD had a Remaster on Steam!
loving the game so far :). couple of the bumps in the round can be really frustrating at times. mainly just looking forward to keybinding!!
so its kinda like the Carmageddon: Reincarnation of the Rollcage series?
My childhood games in PS 1!!!!!
this race track reminds me of the dessert tracks from Drome Racers.
FYI for people concerned about speed: The cars can move quite a bit faster than this. There are three different engine settings which go from what is shown in the video to as fast as about 720kph. So calm your tits if you thought this game was going to be boasting nothing much beyond Mario Kart speeds.
but can it top the rollcage 1, soundtrack?
Fuck yeah roll cage is back!
My god think of the press forward maps you could make if this has an editor
I'm planning to buy it this weekend. Wonder if you can drift in this game 🤔
Bring it to the Switch with Split screen support.. omg the game looks amazing and I loved Rollcage as a kid.
It's almost here
It's a lot faster than this at the minute. And the a.i is far better from what I can tell too.
If only WIPEOUT would get a remake :'(
Armacham 43 Yeah, Formula Fusion :D and WipEout is being remastered!
Armacham 43 No they're giving us WipEout HD Fury and 2048 From the PS Vita. It's called: WipEout Omega Collection. :)
Armacham 43 Yeah exactly, wish more racing games would get remastered.
It has a remake:
store.steampowered.com/app/517710/Redout_Enhanced_Edition/
What about Redout?
wonderful
Needs a 180 flip function, one wrong move and it'll take far too long to turn yourself back round. I still love it tho
After seeing this i dusted off Rollcage and Rollcage stage 2 after that i think i may have to buy this it look epic.
This reminds me of Extreme-G with the benefit of modern tech. Looks cool.
+isupposeiexist i was just saying that!
I NEED THIS WHEN IS IT ON STEAM
it is on steam already
where is the link?
0:46 Nice.
Wow, this is great! When is it coming out?
this game is so hard to find at malaysia
I FUCKING LOVE IT
Cool game.. Not a fam of the camera angle.. It's should be much wider, when speed up. To give sense of the speed.
Rollcage Rules
Omg Rollcage Stage III.
Looks good but seems to have some frustrating oversensitive control issues?
Hopefully these will be tweaked in the PS4 game.
I did this video of an old alpha version back in 2015, things have come a long way since then!
is DnB ingame soundtrack or post?
+unkr3at1v It's the in-game soundtrack! :D And you can select which tracks you want the game to play.
+your evil twin best soundtrack ever
+your evil twin The soundtrack is awesome! Is it available on something like Soundcloud or Spotify? I absolutely love it, especially in combination with this game, it fits perfectly to my memories of Rollcage.

+M. Birchman You can choose speed of the races ( or something like that, I read it from the games news page)
If need for speed and Mario cart had a love child, this is what it'll look like!
We just need fatboy slim’s soul surfing, and it’ll be perfect!
I can't believe it. I loved wipeout but rollcage had the most frustratiing controls(cars didn't felt like they had any weight, they felt like cardboard boxes) that ruined gameplay. And now in this "remake" the had once again retained the same terrible vehicle control.

Play Re-Volt
HOLYYYYYYYYYYY SHIT .-.
I want it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
car moves too slow, average speed in original was 430 km\h , too small number of perks on a track
twisted metal > grip
this is a mix of mario kart with mad max
looks medicore, but I guess people are starved for arcade racing too much.
Spin out is WAY WAY too easy
Это моя мечта! Серьезно!
Muito lookooo
Too big car, brrr ;/
