Kansha (Bell-metal) - Heritage of Khagra (Murshidabad)
Khagra, an old settlement along the river Bhagirathi near Berhampore in Murshidabad district of West Bengal is traditionally popular for Kansha or Bell-metal - a heritage of Bengal.
In Khagra bazar area there are many Kansha shops selling show-pieces, utensils and various other house-hold articles made of Kansha (Bell-metal) and other metals like Brass and Copper.
This episode of ‘Rural Bioscope’ is shot in a Kansha (Bell-metal) shop in Khagra Bazar. The programme tries to explore the present scenario of the Kansha (Bell-metal) traders of Khagra.
