Seems a lot of people got snowed by Slate on this VRS8 interface. Victims of clever marketing and sales pitches which Slate is a master of. He makes great products don’t get me wrong, but this was bound to happen at some point where one of his products tanked. Especially the lack of M1 compatibility with Mac, ultimately discontinuing it. huge problem for people that spent a ton of money on those.
@@AudioSorcerer I considered them when they came out but thankfully I was already dipped into the UAD platform with an Apollo twin, so just added an x8 and an 8 to it. Dodged a bullet there
Yeah it sucks. It really is a great interface. I like the pres and the conversion. But when I was looking into an M1 I saw they weren't compatible and it is impossible for them to ever be. So yeah, got hosed. Spent 2k on it three years ago and resale right now is like 600 bucks. Totally got hosed. I'm at the point where I want to get an M2 mac but now would need to replace the computer and the interface at the same time. It just blows they don't seem to care we all got hosed on it.
This has been very valuable information for me, and entertaining. You said "it can't been daisy chained with thunderbolt" I said to myself, "Well, then just use ADAT" then you said... etc... I had a great laugh to myself Thank You lol
Yes please do some videos on the Cranborne interphase!! Also Slate had a monitor controller that would fit into the desk of a dual MTi that was also discontinued. Any thoughts on that, please!
ive been very curious about the cranbourne. about 3 months ago i got the audient id 44mk2 it sounds great and has 2 sets of adat so i can add 2 other interfaces or audient pre amps etc to it .
I've had this for PC as well for a while, and while I loved how it sounded, it worked horrible and made my setup super instable. I got a refund from Slate, so I can't hate on them for it, but it didn't work out for me.
@@AudioSorcerer I tried using that touch screen stuff. My arms got tired of reaching in & out. An couldn't remember all those 2 & 3 finger suggestions for shortcuts. Immediately sent it back
Nothing beats a great midi controller like the SSL UF8 or Icon Pro X in tandem with keyboard and mouse. Hands on faders is a wonderful tool for mixing!
@@citytonightproductions I still like my keyboard and mouse. I had a controller with faders prior to the Ravens and didn't use that either lol. I know my Pro Tools shortcuts so well due to college, I can't imagine not having my hands constantly over a keyboard.
I made the mistake and went with the vrs8 and after a year something has happened to it and it's literally unable to play any sound without crackling. I'm using a pretty powerful pc and even at 1024 buffer size, it's unable to play anything without crackling noises. Does anybody know a fix?
@@AudioSorcerer NEW POWER SUPPLY.. ASK SLATE TO SEE IF THEY CAN REPLACE IT. THEY MAY DO FOR FREE. THEY DID THAT FOR ME. YOU MAY HAVE HAD A POWER SPIKE, SURGE OR BROWNOUT FROM YOUR POWER OUTLET RECENTLY.
What audio interface do you have in your studio?
Apogee Element 88 ,out off production and sale now 2023,,hope they make new modells in the future

Worse of all, the resell value on these is less than half. 😔

I still use. It has some great converters. So na it's great interface I use outboard gear. But I preferred the conversion to even the Apollo.

I got it in my queue for this year. I always thought the Slate monitor controller was overpriced so I stuck with my PreSonus one.

Audient makes solid stuff. You'll like that for years to come. 👍
So you got the side cars.
Did you ditch the speakers? Are you using the slate headphones exclusively now?
I always check my mixes in my monitors but I mostly use the Slate VSX.
@@AudioSorcerer Aaah, OK. I can't see them in the video?
What are you using the Crestron CP4N for? Are you a fellow Crestron programmer?
I am! Been in the AV integration biz for almost 11 years now. That is my test processor. 🤘🤘🤘

Thanks for telling your story. Slate is definitely good to their customers. 👍
很好奇你是如何稳定使用VRS8的,我在2018MBP上使用VRS8经常崩溃没声音
I got the apogee symphony. Are you in maryland? I came across a listing for you lol
Yeah, I'm in Baltimore. 🤘🤘🤘
I got rid of mine 2 months in. Absolute junk. Just like the raven (which I can’t seem to give away🙄)
I like my Ravens but only for computer screens lol. I never use the touch on them.

I'd reach out to Slate about that.
