I love it!! Great, awesome setup! We been succeeding & failing at 'living off grid " w my 4 kids since 1985. Now, old, I'm looking for tight, efficient home. After he had his stroke (2016), we realized we're in trouble. (Oh, sorry, we lost our 'almost done home ' in another(?) house fire, no ins in 2013) We're in a trailer now, that was headed to dump & generously donated to us after the fire.❤ It's constant repairs & no way to insulate it, no $ either to buy. We're real lucky to have some lumber promised to us, enough to build a small tight home.🍀 We're both disabled & old..lol 👵🏻 Wish us luck! Maine is cold, anything below 20° we have to worry. Snow is our favorite insulator, at least floors improve. Below 0° is now panic 4 us..😁 It's great seeing someone get it right!🌷👍🏻
Great off grid cabin. Very similar to the cabin we've used to hunt elk near Chama, New Mexico. Living like this, even just a couple of weeks at a time, really puts things in prospective.
I have some envy on this end! WOW! It looks like a light snow year but... ya never know. Brook Trout are beautiful fish and taste great, but you have to get to the water. Stay warm and be careful!
Right on, thank you for watching! The next video is coming tomorrow, I look forward to sharing this unique experience with everyone. Have a great Friday!
What a lovely cabin. This one ticks ALL the boxes in my little list of must haves. I love it! It even has one of the wood fired water hearing cylinders... I think it would be perfect.
To be young again, i used to live in colorado about 40 years ago and loved it so much i was at Ft.Carson at a place called camp red devil it was a nco training academy i was a member of the cadre and lived in a house in the middle of no where but was close to Pueblo. it was so nice then we got transfered overseas.
Just stumbled across this and wow just so beautiful. My son is in Colorado Springs at USAFA right now but we live in Indiana so all flat :( it's so beautiful when we get to visit him we never want to leave so we're building a skoolie right now so we can take much much longer trips. Not quite a cabin but it will have the wood stove and we can park it on BML lands and boondock backcountry so almost the same...almost ;)
I lived in San Isabel for about 2 years absolutely loved it we rented a fairly large cabin that had one of the 2 bedrooms that was built into the side of the mountain on the bottom floor there was two bedrooms on the top floor massive fireplace and trust me we used it when the storms came move down to Colorado City and then on down to Pueblo great times good memories I would love to go back and live there again but I'm older now and moves just hurt me too much☺😯😕😔
Very cool. Makes me reminiscent of when I lived outside of Breckenridge, part of the time around 11,000 ft and part of it in a (mostly) off grid place that I built and grew my business out of. Completely happy for ya! Wish I was there again. Good luck!
Wow! Watching this was like someone ripping my own dreams!' Still trying to figure out what part of Colorado you're in. I have my cabin plans all worked out and heading out to the Rockies as soon as my property is sold. Also have plans for a Russian banya, too. Really like your set up. Thanks for showing your property.
Nice and I applaud you I do believe my behind would either do a compost toilet attached to the house some how that way you do not have to venture out either at night or during the day and the same with the shower and sauna.i have been really looking into getting and small parcel of land where I can put either a cabin.small one an RV or tiny house.but I am also looking where we are not having alot of power or water ....we can not do alot of items bc I have back issues and my husband has had a rough few years.he has had a quadruple bypass,a broken hip the same year .three knee replacements on the same knee....he sleeps with a ventilator bc his sleep apnea is so bad that they do not know how to treat it....so on and so forth
Will do! Currently working on my second video and plan to post it tomorrow. I need to get some footage of chopping wood and also some b-roll of the property. Once I get those two segments nailed down then I'll have all the content for my next vid. Thanks for watching!
The only noise I can hear is you talking, other than that I would LOVE THE OUTDOORS. I live like this every day, GOD HAS BEEN GREAT TO US! Love the cabin and land, got to enjoy the snow. Keep us posted on things are going!
Hey I just found your channel, that is an awesome off grid cabin ! I would love to et something like that, I have a cottage now but it has power/shower/tv and stuff, I just wanted something simple but when you build with family, sometimes things change haha Nice truck too btw ! I love my Tacoma. I'm going to check outcome more of your videos.
Unfortunately this was built back in the early 1980s so they didn't film any of the build process. Sure would have been cool to be a part of the team that cut the timber onsite and put it together!
I'm writing this from Finland. I love the way your cabin looks, and the location too! I was curious about your sauna. Are there no stones above the stove to absorb and hold the heat? And the cement floor is gonna stay cold, so it would be goog idea to raise the seats by extra step, so you don't get cold feet. Often we have a small water tank hooked to the flue (welded to te side or surrounding the pipe) to act as a boiler, so you get warm water with just one fire.
I LOVE it up here, I'm having the time of my life! Sure is peaceful here on the ranch, the cabin is perfect and I feel really fortunate to be living this way.
Thanks, will do! I'll be sure to post videos regularly. Already captured some good sunrise footage this morning and plan to post another video tomorrow.
We'll be heading to Colorado next year. Is Colorado off grid friendly? I had my mind set on Idaho but since we'll be there, I'm going to search and look at some land just in case.
This is one of the nicest places I've seen. You have everything you need and could want. What a beautiful place to relax and kick back

This is literal perfection.
I have some envy on this end! WOW! It looks like a light snow year but... ya never know. Brook Trout are beautiful fish and taste great, but you have to get to the water. Stay warm and be careful!

Right on, I'll be posting a new one tomorrow!
Great cabin
Nice place! Looking forward to seeing more.
Wow! That is awesome.
Perfect home!
What a nice slice of heaven!!
Interesting never seen a Sauna that opens to the outside directly. Usually there’s an anti room where the stove is fed from and one changes in.

I've seen many of these places and I've always wondered why the sauna's and outhouses aren't closer to the cabin.
Sauna could burn, outhouse could stink
So jealous! Except the outhouse part :D That's seriously amazing though, Brian!
I'm stoked for this experience, Mia! This ranch is so cool and I'm having the time of my life. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
Pretty cool..thanks for sharing.
Happy New Year, Marcelino!

The sauna made me pause for thought! I've never seen that before. lol
Kippis from a Finnish-Canadian!
I should have known... anywhere a sauna is mentioned, it will not be long before a Fin appears!
Listen to a Scandinavian for sauna advice
@Thebearcat66 Nah, they're just crazy for steam cause the live in the ice.
