It's tragic that he killed someone two decades later. (Nice smiley face, btw.) Don't pretend that has much to with this great film or his fine acting in it, it doesn't.
willieluncheonette Absolutely Willie. What Ulmer managed to produce with little money, and shooting time, is quite remarkable. All of his movies are worth watching.
I've watched this movie many times, but the biggest mistake he made when he stopped to put water in the radiator he picked her up. Thanks for uploading the movie I enjoyed it once again.....
His biggest mistake was not getting a second job to save enough money for a car or at least a bus fare. There was a reason his girlfriend left so suddenly.
Their having been, from observing their skin, hair, and other tells of age, in their 30s or later by 1945, the date of release, presupposes that of course, you never knew any of the actors, who would have al been past 105. My goodness. God forbid I need a lift some day. Nobody will help. I’ll die on the shoulder of the road in a dramatic way!! 🤤 Romantic! 😅 Anybody seen young and attractive Donald Surherland in that scene he did right not stopping for people who seemed in serious trouble on the side of the road in The Disappearance, 1977? No? 😰 Oh, you must! The pranks people do on the road for money or stealing whatever seems valuable is unbelievable.

An iconic Film Noir. One of the best. Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX
Some consider this THE best "B" noir ever made: it's isn't boring, that's for sure!
Fantastic script. Pure artistry in direction. And if true it was shot in just a few days, well that embarrasses everyone else.
Fate can put the finger on you for no good reason at all....very profound!
I like old movies! I use to watch these movies ever since I was
a little girl in the 1960"s.
Was surprised at how much I liked this as it went along, thank you for putting up!
Tom Neal perfect for this role when you look at his real life :) Another great movie, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX

this is a GREAT film noir by Edgar Ulmer who turned many shoestring. low budget B movies into works of art.

Detour, Grapes of Wrath, Easy Rider, and National Lampoon's Vacation the greatest American road trip films
Never knew any of the actors, it is a brilliant must watch, seriously.

This guy is his own worse enemy.
Worst. Worse is comparative, and requires explicit comparison in your statements or sentences.

If it weren't for bad luck he'd have no luck at all. He went from one disaster to another. That woman was horrible.

36:55 ...The Comedy Begins... Hilarious!
is this the movie that was remade as "the hitchiker" with rutger haur?
Cagney would have put a grapefruit in her mush
The driver is on the right first two rides.
Ulmer used a mirror..
Oh, I thought I was losing it! Thanks for the explanation!
Please mister please.....don't play 'B17'!!
Nice movie
Their pronounciation is so good
Shot in four days
People love their myths silly. Ann Savage was contracted for 18 days and recalled that it went over that.
Good movie!!! But not a very cheerful one
What's up with these people driving on the right side of the car?
