Excellent movie once you start watching you won't be able to stop. Janis Carter started out looking for a career in Opera and was discovered for film - This low budget film is a real gem. Janis real last name was Dremann but people had trouble pronouncing it so she changed it to her grandmother's maiden name Carter
Note to self-- when your brakes fail, use the engine brake- i.e., put it in low gear, (standard AND automatic) even if it rips the transmission out. It won't come to a stop but it will slow it right down. Then turn the engine off -- might keep you from getting killed.
Great movie! Thank you so much for uploaded! movies like this one or "White heat""The lost weekend" etc show me clearly that the cinema was an art for these days.
Glenn Ford was a short man. He was only 5’6”. The thing I remember about Ford is that he always wore a good looking well shaped hat in western movies. Great actor.
Gotta LOVE old movies. What a cool end "You keep it!" throws away the smoke he just lit and walks the other way putting past behind. Man.. sometimes people who have no luck just never stumble upon one. How "Dramatique!" 😄👌🏻
A true gemstone! I liked the getting-up scene from 20:07 onward much. And I as a German understand now what the word "framed" means. In this context it means "trapped" or "caught in an evilly planned trap". Before I understood, I had been wondering all the time what in the world a framed person had to do with a picture frame? ;-))
I really enjoyed the movie. The woman who played the lead was very beautiful I wish you would have been able to act a little better. Glenn Ford really shined of course. Thank you for displaying it
Remember this. The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. One cannot love God and mammon. The Mike Lambert character rejected mammon. Something for me to learn..
Framed should have been called Misguided ? Glen Ford in another great role, he was an exceptional actor from Gilda to The Big Heat with Lee Marvin, Glen Ford a lot better than Harrison for sure.
Really good sleeper movie!!! Does anybody have any method to find these really good movies? One thing that works for me is to look at the ID MD rating, this one is 7.5 or something. Any other really good movies? New York confidential, 1950
Pretty sad that the woman betrayed herself for love of a man, who then betrayed her. Hollywood 1940s portrayed women as emotional slaves to the man they loved. Of course, she was evil, but I would prefer she brought about her undoing, because she was downright evil - not because she fell for the wrong guy.
I don't want to include any spoilers since there aren't any in the comments, so I will speak cryptically. For me the movie was spoiled by the final switch by Paula at the climax, which was simply too unbelievable for me, as nothing in the film to that point would make that kind of switch sensible. Even the desire of a scriptwriter for a great twist must be justified by everything that happened beforehand. As for the acting, Glenn Ford is as great and cool as always, but Janis Carter did a pretty lousy acting job in my book.
@ 40:18 Paula [Janis Carter] kinda reminds me of Mrs. Howell on Gilligan's Island... Pretty but Wicked - Enticing but Coy! I can't think of a word that describes her character... Can You? 🤔
1.13.35 : I would not be surprised to find a bottle of ketchup in an american kitchen, but a bottle of poison !! Who could reasonably believe such a thing !!??
Money and food in these movies always bothers me. What happened to his gold piece? In the movie about the land out in Arizona every time they get some food something happens and they don'y get to eat it.
Jeff needs $30,000 to work the mine. The guard tells Ford he'll get a big reward for turning the Paula in. Ford say You Keep It and walks away. What a loser!!!
So that was quite the twist when she killed Pence instead of Mike. BUT. Did she do it because she fell in love with Mike? Or because she wanted the money all to herself? Her behavior didn't quite make sense, which, for me, took away from what was a pretty awesome movie. Her behavior suggested that she did fall in love with Mike, otherwise she would have gotten rid of him. BUT, if she DID fall in love with him, how could she have let him go on thinking that he had killed Pence? It doesn't all add up. Unless it's that I'm trying to understand a sociopath ... something we non-sociopaths can drive ourselves nuts trying to do ...
This movie had me so into it from start to finish. Love Glenn Ford!
Brilliant movie. They knew how to make movies in those days and, how to act.
Stiff a bit tho.
Cracking movie. Storytelling at its finest. Thanks for the upload. Best wishes to all from Marian in UK.

Actually, a more precise definition is when a criminal paints an innocent person as the guilty party.
That helped me, thanks!
It means falsely set up as the perpetrator of a crime, to be more exact. An idiom developed from the idea of a picture frame.
@@briseboy Isn't that what I said george? Only, I said it in a way a German might actually comprehend.
@David Rice, George Mira: I got the idea, "to frame" is close to "to intrigue" or "to defame", thank you two!
