      That is actually wrong.
      Constantine usually called Jesus Christ Our Lord.he also called the Council of nicea.he sat in the council with the Bishops.he requested for their canons.he built Churchs.
      He did alots of things because he bealived it.the reason he got baptized in bed death,was because people at the time usually did that.they weren't getting baptized until they are old or until they got close to death.
      King Theodosius the great(who was a Christian) did also the same.
      St.John Chrysostom also was baptized later in his life.
      This was common in their time.
      That was also why the reason,it change later and now we baptized kids just few days after they were born .
      Reason being it was considered, dangerous to wait until you are old or until you are close to death.

    • @etheretherether
      @etheretherether 3 месяца назад +8

      @@merhawifirzun3477 Just to add extra context. The reason many early Christians waited to be baptized late in life was because they took "Baptism for the remission of sins" to mean that baptism cleansed you from past sins. Therefore, by being baptized on their death bed, or late in life, they where less likely to commit new sins.
      Both the Orthodox and Catholic churches ended up addressing this concern, hence the move to young baptism.

His believe is very much actually inclined with many Philosophical Theologians. The problem with you, the atheist and many others is that while saying religion is Faith based, you still try to view it through the lens of the epistemology/the philosophy of science. But that’s a problem
      You shouldn’t need to be a gifted speaker defending your faith. The Bible promises god will give you the Holy Spirit to direct you in what to say, but that doesn’t happen.
      Now, I’m an atheist and I’m not meaning to belittle you or your religion, but one of the reasons I turned away was when the broken promises of religion started to pile up, I went back and re-examed everything and I found it not to be true

      @moriningland Just because you don't have the gift to share the gospel doesn't mean Jesus is not God.
      God doesn't owe you anything. You submit to Him, not Him to you.
      Being an atheist is ignoring all the evidence of a creator. From the fine tuning of the universe, to the deep need of everyone to find meaning in life, to thousands of years of people believing in the super natural, to countless reports of miracles(most of them are not true, but still there are too many reports), to all cultures in history reporting seeing spirits, to people having spiritual dreams, to people having psychedelic trips, to people having near death experiences and reporting the afterlife, to Jesus coming to earth and claiming to be God, to all the Christian history.
      Everything points to a spiritual world along with the physical.
      Jesus is really God in the flesh.

Was their another promise or specific part that made you rethink your faith? I am the reverse of you, I was an atheist and I became Christian and then Catholic. That’s when I started realizing something was seriously wrong there.
      But that wasn’t why I became an atheist. That’s just why I started to take a second look at the whole faith and it just did not hold up at all to scrutiny.
      It’s a lot to go into but it boils down to
      - I don’t trust the Bible. It seems it was clearly written by people and is not divine

    I think what most Christians who hear JP talking about Christianity fear is that he speaks of our faith in a patronizing manner. You hear it especially when he speaks of his wife’s faith - “it has really worked for her”. That is not what we are talking about as Christians. I’m not saying anything about what JP actually believes and I pray for him. All I am saying is that Christians are not mere pragmatists. We do not believe Christianity because it works. It works because it is true.

    Many are worried about the salvation of JP. I hope he will accept the resurrection and divinity of Christ and be baptized. However, JP already takes Christ's words, and the words of the other biblical prophets, far more seriously than most Christians I've met. And while I have a personal belief and witness that Christ is indeed our Lord and Savior, I also believe I would do well to worry more about improving my own discipleship by following JP's example of better demonstrating my belief with my conduct than merely with my professions of faith.

    He’s got the allegorical and some spiritual aspects down pat, and it’s a joy to hear him talk about them, but that’s just one slice of the pie. Christ established an institution made up of men meant to help us follow him, and to be here after his ascension. That was just as much a part of his message as the transformative and spiritual aspects. It’s the piece Jordan is missing. HOW do we take up our cross? HOW do we become sanctified? HOW do we consecrate ourselves to Christ? The Catholic Church (and EO for the most part) has those steps with the Sacraments and the community. Jordan is not moving past the abstract, I pray he will eventually.

    • @Logan-un6qw
      @Logan-un6qw 3 месяца назад +3

      Yeah.. the commitment that Jordan is talking about is a far greater challenge and sacrifice than the Catholic traditions.
      If all you’re doing is the traditions, you’re missing the gate entirely. And I think that is JPs point. Life is not tradition.
      You pickup your cross by voluntarily taking on the burden of your life, while maintaining a resilient and positive attitude toward God. It means to take on the burden to fix everything around you that you can stomach while not being appreciated for it, and likely being criticized, crucified, and shamed by everyone watching you do it. And after you successfully carry those burdens, and the whole world views you as evil for it, maintaining faith and forgiveness without becoming bitter and hateful.
      This is carrying your cross and following Christ. It is the commitment. Not much of a commitment though, because there is no other way to live a life that will be eternally satisfying. And so you do it because there is no other way.

    People really dont understand jp when he says he isnt a christian. He prays and reads scriptures and does all the stuff you christians do. Maybe more. But he will not disrespect the name because he understands the extreme path in a way few appreciate and even fewer live. It’s a complete surrender to the truth impulse born of Christ. To confront the actual reason would be for others to confront their own faith, especially to those serious believers, who talk to god all day and see nothing but god. To even those monastics who live in the silent prayer. Even these arent enough. The highest expression of affirmation is negation, opposites are the strongest expression of anything. Pride shouldnt be anywhere in the mind, and Christianity should cut through belief. Into a transformation or action of the world and divine, not lip service, labeling, and petty sectarianism. It's not pettiness. There is only one way to heaven and that is through Christ Jesus, by faith alone, not by works, or extreme, perfect living of the Word. Jordan gets this wrong every time. Never have I heard him talk of God's grace, mercy, forgiveness, and love. John 3:16 says it all.
      Now that is not to say we Christians aren't to strive to live by the Word, and constantly aim to be like Christ. But there is grace when we fail and stumble, for no man is perfect but the Son of Man.
      Desiring Jordan's salvation is love. Not pettiness, or selfishness. No man can earn it, and Matthew 10:32 says "Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven." If anything his unwillingness to openly confess his faith is cowardly, though I do not condemn him for it. I pray he comes to our Lord Jesus, and is Saved.

A humble man is aware of his own sins and seeks reconciliation before trying to sound intellectual in the eyes of man. God does not respect intellect, but he accepts the sacrifices of a broken and contrite heart.

When your entire personality is focused around acute, objective analysis and reasoning, it can be incredibly difficult to say, "screw it, I'm just gonna believe this all the way without ever having a full evidence for or against it". The sense I get from Jordan, and I could be wrong, is that I think he truly understands the weight of the commitment to follow Christ. He understands the Parable of the Minas/Talents, and I think while he has some reservations, he largely understands the significance/holy inspiration of God’s word, even if he wouldn’t choose to use the word holy, he’d probably tie it back into universal archetypes or something, but I do detect serious reverence for God’s word there.
    I think he also understands his flaws and that because of them, he wouldn’t be worthy enough to take the plunge for fear of becoming the Pharisee he mentions here. I think he’s contemplating but is concerned that committing to being a Christian would be biting off more than he feels worthy enough to chew. But that’s the irony, it’s that precise sense of unworthiness that makes him worthy of the gospel message. In Jesus’ words, it’s not the well who need a doctor, but the sick. Take the leap Jordan, we’re praying for you!

He sees their value, analogies to all kinds of moral dilemmas etc. By contrast a Christian at some point recognizes his need for a God of power and love who forgives through Christ. It leads to intense peace and the experience of confident faith that all will be well because of this new found relationship. It grows and the learning of lessons from scripture and life changes the believer to want to be more like Him. It’s less intellectual and more experiential to me. I don’t think that is JP. JP lives for the most part as if God is real, and he has brought many people out of atheism. However, I think many people have two concerns. First, if JP does not accept the bodily resurrection of Christ and his divinity, then all his good works mean nothing for his salvation. Second, if JP would take up his cross and boldly proclaim the Lordship of Jesus Christ, it could draw more people into the fullness of God's truth rather than the surface level of simply living a good life.

    I mean he said it pretty clearly here: "Because it's a commitment. I don't think that way". A little bit like another over thinker Augustine, his racing and challenging mind is maybe stopping him just accepting an idea fully.

    Christian story is unqiue and revolutionary. One cannot put mythology as a serious contender against theology & the Creed. That is not a jibe against pagan myths or a sectarian boast. The Gospel story actually happend, it is really historical, in a way that no pre-Christian story is. Only after Christianity they can be attempts at emulation. The Gospels are both a chronicle & myth at the same time. Christian story also unites philosophy & mythology, reason & imagination, for the first time as well, Aristotle & Virgil are united only in the Christian synthesis. The existance of God & of the immortal soul cam be proven through metaphisical demonstrations/proofs & they open the door to acceptance of Christian story, since together with the historical record that we have it makes the belief in the Resurrection of Jesus rationally justified. Pagan stories are fortellings & daydreams, "they steer however shakily towards the true harbour" (Tolkien). They were never intended to be treated as true in philosophical sense, only in poetical. Christian story is fullfilment & reality, the Greatest & Strangest Story Ever Told. The story unites all the patterns & Christ unites all the archetypes. And at the same time it does not contain platitudes & has many strange episodes.
    "For we have not by following artificial fables, made known to you the power, and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ; but we were eyewitnesses of his greatness." ~ 2 Peter 16.

    Topics like global warming are totally different. Though it does take courage to stand against the crowd, it's a different thing to turn to our Father and accept the invitation to eat the tree of life, which Christ re-opened our way to. Lord, help us to eat.

    It would be wise for Jordan to declare himself non denominational. We get too caught up in denominations instead of simply saying that one is a follower of Christ.

      Whatever God calls him to,that's what he'll be declaring when the time is right for him. I'll just be happy to hear him freely proclaim himself as Christian. I know Catholics really want to hear that he is Catholic, and I'll be happy for him if that's the way he goes too, even though I'm not Catholic either. It does seem like Catholics like to have that notch under the belt, because they've won another one. I don't find protestants do that. They will just rejoice that he is Christian,whichever kind it is.

      I don't even think he needs to 'declare' himself non-denominational, but I agree with your point. I can't find a Bible verse that says we need to choose a denomination.

    • @saintejeannedarc9460
      @saintejeannedarc9460 3 месяца назад

      @@hxhdfjifzirstc894 The bible only talks about Christ being our one and only denomination. It is addressed in the bible directly. There is also no verses about one holy apostolic church, as Catholics and Orthodox claim either. We are instead told not to look down on other members of the body of Christ and that all are needful. We are expressly reminded to not say that the toe is less important than other seemingly more comely parts. Those types of churches are definitely the more flashy and comely parts, and they see themselves as The church, but the bible does say otherwise. Yet they can't see it. They just act like we as protestant Christians just aren't part of the body. Yet many of them do acknowledge that we are and it doesn't make sense.

    I take his words at face value. What he practises is what he believes.
    Tells me he does believe at least in the ideas that Abraham did. But not necessarily much farther than Abraham did.
    It's in the right direction. But it's not yet at Christ, the Torah, or Mohammed.

    More court records
    2009 Sordi case part 2
    I will deal next with Dr. Peterson’s report entitled “Multiple rater response to play assessment description From Kawartha Family Court Assessment Service Report”. It is dated May 4, 2009. This is perhaps the most interesting of all of the reports that counsel for the respondent wishes the court to consider. It comes as close to “junk science” as anything that I have ever been asked to consider. Dr. Peterson’s evidence was that he did not consider himself to be an objective observer, if only because he only saw the respondent. Therefore, he took excerpts from the Kawartha Family Court Assessment Service Report dealing with the observations of the play sessions with the children and each parent. He then designed a questionnaire to explore the actions of the parents therein. He then sent all that to what he describes as “22 colleagues, psychologists, social and child care workers”. We know nothing of their experience. Five persons responded to his questionnaire. The following is Dr. Peterson’s description of those five:

    You don't become Christian by following the Bible and living in guilt. Christianity is a lifestyle, not a doctrine. And its one you live to the fullest, by trying every drug and making love to beautiful women. It doesn't mean avoiding sin and being harmless. Life is good. So live it up, and do well onto others.

    Jordan Peterson believes god is a "meta-metaphor" and not real in the same way most Christians believe in god. This is why he is not willing to call himself either a Christian or an Atheist. He thinks that People too dumb understand it in that way (most people) should probably just believe it like a fairy tale because that still infers the benefits. And i agree with him unfortunately, hes just to scared to say that in most situations, if you listen to the debates he has with Harris closely, he reveals this.

    But he didn't say he prays the rosary, or that he is willing to take up his cross. Isn't he kind of stating that unless he is willing to take up his cross, he cannot commit? And so, he is in the right place. He CAN'T enter the church at this moment. With his understanding, any priest could baptise him and give him confirmation right then and there, like St Philip to the Ethiopian eunuch, but he is not ASKING for it at this point. Leave it to his wife. He is her cross, her prayer crusade. In God's good time. This part of the interview was actually the worst placed question. Sorry, Matt 😢 With love, greetings from Japan by a Slovak raised in heavenly Austria where crucifixes still adorn the classrooms.
