    The net limit is 64. Also putting the fuel up high is going to raise the center of gravity and impairs roll stability. (The COG indicator in the editor doesn't take into account fuel weight when spawned)

  • @riverswing2502
    @riverswing2502 4 месяца назад +9

    You can lose fuel when you take it back to workbench pressing b. To not lose fuel you have to take it back at the work bench.

    I don't know if you've already done this, but you could add some rudders in the front of the boat to decrease it's turning radius. The other thing you could do is to add some maneuvering props (just props on the sides near the rear and the front connected to electrical motors to turn in place and strafe near the port).
    Also you might want to add some booms with magalls on the rear to stay at the right distance from the port, that way you just have to extend the booms and back up until the magall touches the wall, leaving your hoppers aligned.
    Another thing, I'm not sure if the rope/wire anchors that you're using have the cut option, but you might want to ditch your nets when getting close to the harbor to unload. The fishing nets produce phantom forces and those buoys and mc that you have on the ends of the net are also subgrids which are actively in contact with the boat. Add that to the usual lag that there's when you get close to a dock and you have a frame killer recipe

  • @Corbald
    @Corbald 4 месяца назад +2

    It's not frames, it's TPS. You're framerate is fine, like mine. And it's not just nets. My boat has no nets, but lots of sub-components like sliders and pivots. Before the fishing update, it ran fine, but now it drops to a few TPS at any port with cargo containers. If I leave, get the draw distance away and save/load, it's fine, and it's fine after it first loads, even at port, but if I'm near a trade port it dies quickly. I can't even use my VTOL now, as it was pushing the limit even prior to the update, but now it's into the Seconds per Tick ranges. Feels bad, man.

    I've also noticed massive slowdowns in recent weeks; I believe it has to do with spawning new NPC vessels but I'm not sure what exactly.

  • @atigerclaw

    There's something wrong with North Harbor. You're not imagining things when the boat starts to move on its own. I've also encountered this weird behavior trying to drop fish. There seems to be some kind of slowly oscillating force right near the dock. At times, it slowly pushes things east, then after a short time, reverse and pushes things west.
    I can go literally anywhere else and set the weather to flat calm, and this doesn't happen. I suggest puttering around to the Holt Town fishing terminal from now on. It's a bit further a trek, but at least you won't spend several frustrating hours trying to keep your boat lined up.

      I've opened a bug report on it, referenced your video as well.

    To assist with placement, side based props on electric engines with an 'or' gate could be the answer plus can help with turning so you aren't solely relying on rudders... I'll do some testing and see if I can get the logic set up for it

    Make and add a jet ski so you can check out islands as the boat putts around and auto fish for you. Also add a mag all system off the port and starboard sides to push or pull off the docks.

  • @jembler
    @jembler 4 месяца назад +1

    Make some mag all anchors that you can just put to the bottom of the harbor to keep you in place, 2 in the front 2 in the back and that way u can reverse in and not drift out.

    I think the limit of fish per net is at 64. I ran multiple tests with my trawler and emptied my two nets wich very suspiciously yielded exactly 128 fish each time.

    Something you could try to make fishing faster is you add water jets to the rope nodes and add stabilizers so they go straight. This will also give you more coverage because the net would be vertical instead of at an angle.

    • @Patrick-xb3fq
      @Patrick-xb3fq 4 месяца назад +1

      Another thing you could do to prevent fish from going off the sides is to add a 1*1 wedge facing down to create a lip so the fish can’t go out.

    • @Patrick-xb3fq
      @Patrick-xb3fq 4 месяца назад +1

      Here’s my third idea of the day. Put the arm that takes the fish out of the hoppers onto your boat so you can put the fish in the hoppers behind the crane from the boat. Bow thrusters would also help.

    I wonder if the physics are good enough for a ram from the front side to shove all the fish toward the rear and into the hoppers...

    im still playing around trying to figure out a bunch of stuff, but i made a crab pot style fishing setup that for me just screwing around was kinda fun. 7 block high x 11 block wide x whatever the net node block is for depth i think its 3 blocks front to back. i made a bunch of "pots" with float buoys that i can set out in strings that will just sit in the water and catch fish while i go do other stuff then i can come back to my string and retrieve my pots just like crab fishing. something about it made my game super laggy though i figured it was just all of the separate bodies on the boat was making it freak out but im not sure. ive had the game for a long time but only just came back to it since the fishing update went out so im not that good at it. i dont have magnets holding everything down, i have winches, ropes, and anchors so that might be part of my fps drop issues. i dont have any logic on the pots themselves so my nets just stay at their spawn size and i manually take the fish off the net and place them in the hoppers.

    when that render-lag happens it's easy to fix, just save and restart the game.
    i get that all the time, not sure what's causing it but i dont think it's related to the save or vehicle at all.
    i even get it on foot without anything spawned and restarting the game is the only thing that fixes it (reloading save or loading another save doesn't help)

    So i know nothing about this game and kinda just started watching your videos recently and I am really intrigued by this game. I know you have a lot of resources dedicated to this large fishing boat but my suggestion would be to find a way to showcase other aspects of the game a little so people like myself could see all there is to it. I know I saw some rescue missions, for example. Are there other types of jobs to do in the game? Just thinking out loud. Great series though. Theres something about the jankiness that doesn't bother me w/ this game. I think because a lot of this game is about solving problems, so as a viewer I dont probably notice the struggle as much as you do

      Hello, i hope this will answer your question, so there is 3 main to play SW.
      The first one is to play the career, you have the option to do some fishing, mining, rescue mission, transport containers or lastly oil refining (you can all at the same time no limit on that).
      The second one is to just building whatever come to your mind in creative, be it a flying cube a spaceship or a yacht
      And the last one is to play on multi-player which depending of the server can be a mix of all the above or simply one of the two.
      This game is highly addictive got around 3300h... (rip my social life)
      Also i have 2 warning :
      It depend of what you're doing in the game but you will need a good or really good PC to play it...
      And lastly the learning curve is close to a mountain... if you are starting to mess whit modular engine and or microcontroller you will need tutorials or a good look at the workshop
      Keep in mind that it is the only game of this kind. It's a good one even if it can be improved. His downside are the money driven dev... if you're getting the game you will understand pretty soon.
      Sorry for the big answer and my clumsy English.
