Hello! Viewer from Japan here, your videos are very helpful. So helpful in fact i’m able to compete in regionals now. Thanks alot and keep up the good work! :)
I have played at school all year last year and everyday this year, but the elementary kids at my school broke the table. Before that however I practiced constantly every chance I got. Thanks for more serves. I like to experiment with spin.
Craig makes this look so easy! I've tried to do the first trick serve, but it's actually really difficult to hit it with the backhand side and get the motion right.
#3 can also be done across the table, short and wide. To do this, on the backswing, bring your elbow back so the bat is next to your right hip, then make a scooping motion with your arm while contacting the ball with the backhand rubber. Try to get more topspin than sidespin, and go for as much speed as you can get and still hit the table. Especially useful against opposite-handers.
Great video, as always. Something that hasn't been covered yet in your videos is how to play defense. There's a couple on blocking, but I mean like when you're backed up from the table. How do you do those backspin chops? How do you position to return a smash? How do you know when you've got an opportunity to set up a counter attack? I lose so many points on defense because I feel like my only tool is block.
I will try and do some more videos on defensive play next year. My next video will actually be about the BH push, but I do need to do some on chop, lob and counter loop.
Nice tricks , thx . I got antispin rubber but i Will try to think out tricks like that . By the way : when you train to improve your serve u should always make the full movement : I mean recover a shake hand normal grip and get in the right position for the third Ball ;)
Nice. You should do one on illegal serves. lebesson and maharu use illegal serves to get so-called cheap points. Most umpires are gutless to call a fault serve. Illegal serves are a fact of table tennis and it would be wise to have some good ones in your arsenal.
I think the hardest trick serve would be by taking tomahawk serve as a base and instead of doing it of opponent's short forehand or short mid ,, we should serve on his short backhand by our backhand rubber ,, please if you see make a tutorial
Craig does have very good hands - lots of clever touches and change of pace. We have more videos coming next year where he explains some of these skills.
1. serve: I'm using the same in my game but with more topspin. Your serve hasn't than much topspin and is therefore slower and not at the very end of the table. 3. I started practicing this serve a while back but didn't continue. I'll try to integrate it into my game!
Kevin Fang Hi Kevin, It’s no different to learning any other new skill. There is bound to be some apprehension in using something new. Practice it enough, get comfortable using it, slowly add it into your game and situations that are uncomfortable (when it’s ready) and you’d be able to use it whenever you like. If you don’t go through this process then it’d be crazy to try and serve or shot (that is not get a skill) in a high pressured situation. Glad you enjoyed the video 👍
It's awesome but I have to say, the serves by themselves are not very meaningful. It's a lot more important to have a good idea of what receive you're likely to get and exactly how to prepare for it how to attack it then. Why not do a series about that? Serves, most likely returns, and followup?
You guys theif my pendulum serve but with the back hand side. I will not sue you but you guys got the timing rite plus the serve gives off plenty of spin. Btw i live in trinidad and is a national player n my name is Brent. Thanks for makin the serve popular
{GGC}FNAF MASTER OR UNDERTAKER Hello Brent, I played against Dexter St Louis a couple of times a few years ago. He was a great guy too. A Trinidad legend!
@@craigyb22 i used to do do that serve when i was 7 years old. It was my second serve. The first was the pendulum n my third is both tomahawks. But keep up the good work and hope we do a 2 in 3 match in nearby future. I am 15 years old and playing as 2nd place in country right now. Meaning i play against both children n adults. They name me the blocker cause of my amazing skill in it
Craig cheats on his services. A proper serve is 6 " inches above your open palm and only a couple of degrees from perpendicular to the table - or a couple of arc minutes. If the ball moves toward the server's body more than a couple of inches, THAT IS ILLEGAL.

Thanks for watching. I'm sure the videos only help a little bit. You must be training a lot to reach this higher standard. So keep up the hard work!

Great tips! Will try these in my next practice session!
thank you very much for the info of the trick which is very cool, warm greetings from Indonesia
great video, I will try this tomorrow. I already do one of these but two others are more difficult :))
Craig makes this look so easy! I've tried to do the first trick serve, but it's actually really difficult to hit it with the backhand side and get the motion right.
Keep going. A few hours of practise and you'll be making good progress I'm sure.
Looks really fun, will try that last one in a realy match next season first, but they all look interesting.
Thanks coach, I will try n practice
Great serves... will try them out 👍🙂
Tank U. Coach but l need more demonstrations on these serves

I tried but not easy, it is hard to do the same. Is there any advise?
Thanks so much for this!
Thank you sir

Nice tricks , thx . I got antispin rubber but i Will try to think out tricks like that . By the way : when you train to improve your serve u should always make the full movement : I mean recover a shake hand normal grip and get in the right position for the third Ball ;)
Yes, I think it's best to complete the movement. Serve, recover and prepare for the 3rd ball.
Good tips if the serve can throw up vertically will be better
Looks great must try. Looks a little risky though. Until competent.
Can you film one video with Pongfinity or Adam?
Andrei Şerban Good idea! Pongfinity.

Could Craig and Tom decorticate how Waldner achieve his style , toward the end i see Waldner imbeded in Craig tactics. ...right ?

how very devious
Haha, good. Thanks.
4:48 is that serve not illegal? Not in line with table?
There is no rule to stay inside the lines. Just behind the end of the table...
@Tom Lodziak-If a match ever did take place between you & Craig would be really curious to know who actually won it ?
Craig would win very easily. He's a few levels above me. If he played left handed with one eye closed, I might have a chance!

How would you forehand trick serve from backhand side?
Cool

Ha! Yes, it does take time. I tried doing one of them in a match the other day. It went very wrong and I looked a total idiot!

That fake reverse is infuriating!
