I am part of the small and dedicated fanbase! You can see for sure that this is a smaller team and effort. If you're into cyberpunk storylines and quick shooter gameplay Snowbreak is really fun. Oddly, the storyline progression has been one of the key contributors for me sticking around.

@@bgbss680 It's a really small game tbh, the devs and community reflect that. I do think it's worth trying out since it doesn't cost you anything. The time investment (once you finish the story etc) is pretty minimal unless you just wanna play more to shoot stuff, which is a plus for me. Events are spaced out too so you can focus on other games as well. Probably one of those things where if it checks enough boxes for you, cool! If not, then that's cool too and now you know!

Another thing is that I don't think Snowbreak is trying to compete, or even follow Genshin's footsteps. It's more like they are following Honkai Impact's footsteps since in that game, it isn't open world, and the story are told through still models, but are voiced, which is something I hope Snowbreak can improve.
Besides, there are other bigger titles already in the works to compete with Genshin like Wuthering Waves, Mugen, and the latest one known, Azur Promilia.
Though Snowbreak did have an open world game mode in the Summer Event, but it is small and nothing compare to Genshin. And again, Honkai Impact also have that as well.
And in some strange way, I think I am glad that the game stays within the niche but have a dedicated player base. After all, you don't see a lot of Chinese gacha games focusing more on the fan service. This is from China after all.

You didnt go into how much "primogems" you can get and how frequent. The frequency, reliabilty, and amount gain is what makes Snowbreak have the better Genshin gacha system. In Genshin, once you get all the chests in the overworld and complete achievements, you will need to depend on events and dailies for anymore rotating primogems. You could walk around the map and get less than 100 primos after 5 hours of treasure hunting. But for Snowbreak you can do weeklies, dailies, and events quickly and they give way more pulls overall in a shorter amount of time.

I also played genshin since day 1 and they are in totally different leagues.
Snowbreak respects you as a player and you get a nice amount of "gems" for the gatcha, while in genshin you have to invest a SHITON of hours exploring, completing quests and the pain in the ass of wall of irrelevant texts for an NPC you don't care.
If Genshin's quests were related to characters or better yet, legendary quests were important for the character instead of a random situation that just happend to have the character, would be more enjoyable.

So one thing that is very important to note for the future reviews of these gacha games, yes genshin has become the new standard when it comes to the new era of gacha games since they showed the world that 3D massive open world gacha games can work (I mean in just 2024 and 2025 there will be a shift in market since genshin won't be the only one in this genre any more) a lot of the current popular gacha games stil follow the "Old" formula that being instance based levels, with menus for grinding, visual novel story telling and characters being more about the static image rather than the 3D model itself.
Nikke is a perfect example of the old formula being modernized and updated where normally gatcha games would turn that beautiful png image of the character you pulled for into some chibi or not on par 3D model. Just wanted to throw that out there in case you play something like Azur Lane where there is no open world levels at all, and is primarly sustained by its fanservice and super friendly gacha rates there are others that are bit more modern but still follow the old formula like Arknights, Aether Gazer, PGR, Blue Archive, Reverse 1999, Snowbreak, etc before genshin all they were doing to one up each other was some new form of gameplay or better looking characters. While it's fine taking genshin as the new standard I would argue very few "New gen" gacha games have survived ever since genshin came out, Nikke is the only one that comes to mind and HSR which to no one's surprise is from Hoyoverse, so it would of naturally integrated itself into the genre.

    • @MrInsiipid
      @MrInsiipid 7 месяцев назад

You said it's important to note but didn't clarify why it's important to note any of this before going off on a tangent. We're all aware not every Gacha game is the same as Genshin, but it's absolutely the new standard, and there's been a clear transition from 2D to 3D with how advanced our tech is getting. Old games relying on this aren't a problem, but neither should they still be standard or made as an excuse for a new game relying on old gimmicks.
But at the end of the day, to each their own.

Snowbreak is fun for the most part. I start playing a couple of months after launch and it improved a bit. The story is getting a bit more interesting, and the fanservice is increasing, although im a man so i cant really complain.
I will slightly correct you regarding when it started. While Katya Klein is noticeably a fanservice character, it started with the Yehrus storyline and a character called Tess Kotkin, a cheerful, aloof redhead with big... guns, and basically a belt functioning as a skirt.
One aspect you might have missed, regarding the freebies part like the Personnel File, is the possibility to get 5 star weapons from the standard weapon banner with Reward Codes, which is the equivalent of Starglitter in Genshin Impact. I think you get 5 Reward Codes for every 4 star item you pull and 10 for every 5 star. And it costs around 480 to buy a 5 star weapon uing these, the same way it costs 24 starglitter to buy a constellation for a 4 star in Genshin Impact. As you said, it takes a while, but its a nice touch because it garantees a 5 star of your choice. One last thing regarding freebies is the fact that you can dismantle weapons and or manifestations of 5 stars to buy other 5 stars when you reach the maximum level of a weapon or Manifestation.
Lets say you get R2 Stardust Memory, Lyfe's Wild Hunt signature. If you get another one, you can dismantle it for weapon materials and eventually buy a diferent 5 star weapon (when you stock up enough on the material). Same with Manifestations. When you reach the maximum count of 5, you can dismantle Manifestation items into Mori Fragments and use them to buy more manifestation poins. Although in this game, Manifestations are not nearly as strong as constellations in Genshin impact.
I started playing the game because i thought the gameplay was interesting, but im getting more interested in the story now. I try to support games i enjoy so like in Genshin, i usually get the battlepass and the welkin moon equivalent. And im really curious to see how they flesh out the story, given that they presented us with clear antagonists now, in the form of the former Yggdrasil board members, with "ω" being the first major antagonist.
But i think your review of the game was pretty fair and on point. One thing i will add, is that you should check out Mecha Break, a game being developed by the same company. It looks pretty good so far, and not sure if its gonna be gacha or not. At least there arent any noticeable waifus apart from a pilot in a skin tight outfit. But its good to know the success of this game allowed them to try and go a bit higher with Mecha Break.

To answer your question about whether or not a character's free BIS Logistic Squads can be re-obtained, here is my answer. The 5* Haru and Chenxing, both have free BIS Logistic Units in their respective events. And just so happens, during Katya's event, 5* Haru got a return banner where you can pull her and her best weapon. But that's not all, you can also get her free 4* weapon AND BIS Logistics in the same Katya event. The same goes for 5*Chenxing.
I missed both character's free weapons and Logistic Squad, and I already obtained them during those newer events. And chances are, when Katya return again with her banner, you CAN get her free 4* weapon and BIS Logistic Squad.

I'm watching this video 3 months later and as someone who has played since day 1, there have been so many QOL updates in the game lately that the video should eb remade, like the whole not being able to farm Logistics of past events. Or weapons (as both are now permanently added to one of the shops).
Also, even if the game is going towards fanservice, the monetization is based on skins imo,. There has been also a new type of banner added which has a 100% rate up on the limited character and weapon. Also very important that they announced that they will mantain only 1 new character per update + reruns and if they ever release 2 new characters, they will ALWAYS give one for free (it already happened with free 5* Enya and free 5* new Fenny on anniversary).
I really think that these videos with only 1 month of experience in the game have to be taken with a grain of salt as you missed several things (like other older players mentioned in the commnets). You emphatise logistics a lot but I have NEVER needed to grind perfect stats or somthing like that, you can clear everything if you know how to play and have a normal logistic squads. Also, comparing it to Genhsin seems stupid. Btw the exploration is there, but you missed the exploration events like Haru's event or the summer event where you could explore the whole map and get moire details of the story, what happened there or even go fishing (summer event). Having played this game since release, it's one of the more generous sorts, but only because the frequency of banners is much lower than other gacha titles. I've spent $0 dollars, and have basically everything in game, because there are weekly/daily tasks that reward the currency for pulls at a decent rate. Logistics (the Genshin artifact things) may be random, but you can pull whichever you want once you've acquired any semblance of currency gained from regular play (not cash shop). Literally the least random thing in the game. Also, event logistics are only sort of Best in Slot? The random stats you get are random for every logistics, and the bonuses don't have quite the same effect that you'd see in other games. You just need a bonus that benefits that particular character.
5-star weapons, especially those for limited banners, are mostly amazing because they provide a straight damage boost as the first part of their weapon passives. Overall though, still easily pulled at the frequency they show up. They also only require one duplicate to max out their stats, which is nice (4-star weapons require 5 copies).
The real disappointment are the skins and costs associated with them. There just aren't many, and the ones that do show up are way too costly.
The choice to remove the English dub was due to the fact that almost nobody used it. Since they provided us the ability to switch to the JP dub day 1, it was probably an easy choice

I feel not eveerything needs to be compared to genshin, altho most people will. when you do this I feel it puts even more unneeded pressure or an expectations on it that it wasn't meant to reach. A game like this is supposed to a shootem up waifu collector and I think it holds well for what it's supposed to be. Yes, while it may have some aspects that are genshin in nature, it's not all the way the same as it's the norm for gacha games now.
Yes, there is some holes that need to be patched like the EN voice overs wanted to leave the game because the game had more fan service in the game in which the company said you can leave is pretty based. Now we still need voice overs and I rather have JP or even other languages.
Either way, I think this is a pretty fair review and the game is worth checking out. by the time the game hits it's anni let's hope for more changes and fixes to make the game more enjoyable.

I played a couple of hours of Snowbreak today. I like it a lot. Since it's a new game I'm overwhelmed with new information being prompted to me all the time, but I'm slowly getting the hand of it. I have to say I also hate the idea of having separate gachas for character and weapons, and is one aspect that makes me consider not investing too much in the game. However I did find the story and characters insteresting enough, so I think I'll keep this as my side game, for as long as it can keep me insterested.

  • @Spyduck
    @Spyduck 7 месяцев назад +53

Having played Snowbreak since launch, here's what I can leave you all with as a full F2P player.
The gacha may or may not please you, but you don't need to spend nor overindulge in each banner. The game has made it such that the default versions of Lyfe (SMG - all rounder), Fenny (Shotgun - armor breaking), Yao (Sniper - life support) are really all you need to clear every playable mode of this game except modes that need multi-functional teams. Because I put my faith in the game's design and built up these 3, I never felt the need to pull unless I wanted a new advantage. And I can proudly say I only have 3 Orange-tier Operatives, with one item for a free Orange, and a combined stock for 120, 10x rolls. The game is that generous when played diligently, and we're 10 months in.
Resources were rough at first, but once they started putting up the event activities in each patch, resources suddenly became plenty with surplus. And since you aren't trying to build a full harem, you WILL be able to easily and immediately maximise the loadout to a new Operative except for the gated Manifestation rank (gacha, or time investment).
The recent shift to fanservice? By all means just ignore it if you don't want it. As long as the skivvy aesthetics aren't being intrusive (and they aren't), the game's playability remains the same. You have to purposefully make the skivvy stuff shown instead.
Finally, there's an important point to be made - gacha games need time investment and focus, and Snowbreak is no exception. Don't try to upgrade everything all at once - make it so that you have a solid team that can carry you up to par with the game's content difficulty, then slowly diversify out so that other members can catch up and fill the teams adequately. Because of the rough start, I'm sure some of us took at least 2-3 months to have a solidly armed team.
I don't mean to detract the video itself, but would you simply accept a video essay on the game, or the many others here who have actual near-1-year experience with the game?

Good job on the Review, one thing you kinda missed on it is the fact that Orange Weapons you need only 2 copies to max it out, unlike most current games with 5 copies or so. Regarding the logistics both the limited operators, Chenxing and Haru, their reruns came with old events logistics to the current event shop so for example when Katya's reruns comes around you'll be able to get more copies for her logistics. Also took me 8 months of farming manifestations shards to max Fritia's to M5.

Currently, my Friend list have about 10 players of lvl 85~100, that have not logged in for more than 20 days.
(Excluding those that have not logged in more than 70 days, counting only from the fanservice path)
The take home message is: Fanservice is good, but if the core gameplay loop is not fixed, players will still quit for good eitherway.
What I think will happen is that, the game will still run and not EOS, but supported by small group of loyal fans.

Snowbreak vet here, gonna yap for a bit
Been playing since day one, got every single character except two that I don't want (Tess and Lyfe).
Believe it or not, I'm also a very low spender and have dropped less than $50 bucks on this game. That being said, having to deal with the gacha system twice is definitely super lame, and if you don't have the signature weapon of a few 5*'s, it makes them almost useless. The logistics and neuronics grind can also be a pain, but they SHOWER you in free materials during big campaigns; which is extremely helpful.
Overall, game is kino. The waifu shooter market is shockingly untapped, and snowbreak scratches that itch pretty well.

Jumped into snowbreak at the start 2024 on pc version since i've been seeing it on the play store for awhile and seemed interesting to me.
I liked Third person shooting games, adding anime waifus piqued me. The game was overall fun but definitely felt repetitive, especially on a few game modes which felt dry sooner. The story and characters are amazing to my view. and I do agree the story kinda ramped up and started becoming more and more interesting by chapter 11 and so forth. The events however are so long, some event gamemodes will be locked until the set date to be released, but the free resources are too much to pass up, It had helped me catch up to the current content on lvl70-80 which alot may find themselves slowly progressing due to how abyssmal some resource grind can get and how costly building characters get. But all in all, It's still a pretty fun game, and you can see that the devs are cooking with improvements each new update, Just give it a try and see if you like it or not.

  • @prisciliaflora
    @prisciliaflora 6 месяцев назад +7

The only thing similar to Genshin is the fact there is a 50/50 in the gacha. Even the overall gacha is different. Different pity, different rate, no 4 star rate up, just need 2 copies of weapon to max out, no dual weapon banner shit, can grind copy of chars...
    - Gameplay is obviously different.
    - Skip button
    - No male chars.
    - Logistics are completly different than artefact, no rng on main stats, no need to lvl them to see the end result of subs stat except the last one that can be rerolled. Can be bought on shop with a currency that you have by recycling the logisitcs that you don't need and there is only 3 of them. (So completly different than what you explained...)
    - Leveling char is different, no specific mats to have every 20 lvl.
    - Leveling skill is compltely different too, you gain stat (alignement index) during the process, that is why leveling skills other than the support one on support chars is important too.
    - The base system has nothing to do with the teepot fail of Genshin.
    - The stamina refresh is better than Genshin.
    - There is a chat...
    - It is way more generous than genshin overall. (Free 5 stars, basically 1.5 pity per patch)
    - There is a lot of skins for char, something that Genshin have difficulty to offer for some reason.
    - And they add new endgame or variance of existing one.
Its way more similar to PGR than anything else. (But obviously completly different too)
So i don't know where you saw them copying Genshin or anything like that and you missed a lot of things. Welp pretty atrocious review indeed.

  • @snakefh
    @snakefh 6 месяцев назад +3

21:15 They kinda fixed that, there is a new game mode that lets you get limited logictics from previous events.
What they didn't fixed for the FOMO part and you didn't noticed is: there is also a F2P version of the weapon in the event shop so if you don't have resources to roll for the character AND the weapon you can farm the 4* version from the shiop and get it to max limit break, that weapon is a 4* version of the gatcha weapon, has really good stats and sub stats for the new playable character but after the event ends, there is no way to get it. So you have to stick with the generic 4* weapons or roll for the 5* weapon.
Usually 5* weapons are like 10-15% better than the 4* version at max limit break so is a really great weapon for F2P players.
I kinda think Hoyoverse totally shaked the whole gatcha industry, just like Fortnite did and created a standard of a game as services and new game as services have to follow Fortnite, now Gatchas have to follow Genshin's system. And this also means content release.
We now call a game "death" when doesn't release as much content as Fortnite does and lets be honest, there is NO WAY any company can release that much stuff in a short amount of time. The same goes for gatchas, Genshin releases every 6 weeks new content or a new area and big events, there is no way any other team with less money can do that.
Even old gatcha games like gran Blue Fantasy as an example can do that.
So i think comparing any gatcha to genshin is a mistake, like comparing any game as service to Fortnite, jsut imagine comparing helldivers II to Fortnite. As a veteran in Mihoyo Games i feel snowbreak is more similar to Honkai Impact 3rd and copyes a lot from them than Genshin. Even the logistic/stigma system from both games.

While farming materials are pretty easy after playing through some of the side stories and clearing stages just one time, the presence (resin for Genshin Players) gets used up very quickly.
The voicing of chars diminished as the game went on. When they announced that they were no longer using EN VAs I wasn't disappointed at all.
But over time, all voicing was less and less.
Would I recommend anyone play the game? If you're looking for shooters with waifus, then this would be your best bet.

  • @geebeepman
    @geebeepman 8 месяцев назад +7

yes snowbreak has similarities with genshin but it has way more in common with honkai impact 3rd than the former.
    1. 3 character team like honkai. genshin has a 4 character team.
    2. mission-based like honkai. genshin is open world.
    3. visual novel style story content like honkai.
    4. able to gradually farm extracts to increase character manifestation like how you increase valkyrie ranks with fragments in honkai. (I'd argue its even better than honkai's since you can do it with every character, including the new limited 5 stars you own, whereas, for the most part[apart from war treasury debuts like sirin, etc.], you can only do it with older S-ranks and A-ranks in honkai.)
    5. support abilities function like honkai qte's. genshin doesn't even have that.
    6. multiple playable versions of the same characters like in honkai(and no, genshin traveler doesn't count)
    7. logistics have more in common with honkai stigmatas down to reroll-able revisions at the end which is just like affixes. while it does has rng, it doesn't have about a dozen layers of rng like genshin artifacts(or star rail relics).
    8. rebate rewards like top up bonus rewards in honkai.
    9. it has ladder rankings and multiple endgame content. genshin doesn't.
    10. SKIP BUTTON!!!!!
the gacha character/weapon system is easily its most similar feature to genshin... but even there, its better.
    1. yes, its character and weapon banner have 50/50 as well but the hard pity is 80 and 60 respectively(genshin's is 90 and 80) and failing to get the featured orange tier(5 star) character/weapon means the next one is guaranteed. none of that epitomized path bs on genshin's weapon banner.
    2. as mentioned prior, 5 star character manifestations can be gradually enhanced by doing 'personal file' daily.
    3. 5 star weapons can be maxed out with only 1 dupe(tier 1>tier 2). in genshin you need 5 copies of the same weapon to get it to r5(max).
    4. you can obtain copies of 5 star weapons you already own by decomposing 3 in exchange for one similar to punishing gray raven.
    5. you can buy standard 5 star weapons for standard 5 star characters with 'reward codes' obtained from gacha similar to star rail light cones in starlight exchange. in genshin, you can do this with only 4 star characters.
    other things:
not having voiced story and visual storytelling is very likely due to budget.
fyi there are other ways to get logistics than just farming them in operation. you can also guarantee specific copies by buying them in the shop with 'personnel limit' which can be obtained by decomposing other logistics or weekly reward in gigalink.
going for 5 star weapons won't "sink into your savings". got 2 accounts, one buys skins and the other is completely f2p. the latter currently has 8 5 star weapons, 2 of which are tier 2; and in just a few days once mauxir and kaguya reruns drop, it'll now have 10 5 star weapons while still remaining f2p. again, having a lower hard pity than genshin and no epitomized path bs helps a lot.
the event logistics will and have come back so don't worry too much if you missed them. just use substitutes for the meantime. boldly stating that its now "PERMANENTLY UNAVAILABLE" is just factually wrong.

But we just ended always doing the weekly coop together, then event coop. comparing scores and strats on the weekly 2 competitive bosses and the ball kept rolling. its kinda the argument that "games are better with friends" but yes, this is a gacha where the coop shines. its not groundbreaking but never have i had to que with others for a more proper engagement in said activity as often as snowbreak. if you have friends who are willing i'd say give it a try.

I'm pretty new on this game so not sure how much will I stick to it (probably as long as the fanservice is good). However, I do disagree on one part and is the statement about gameplay on events having to be different than the usual game itself and turn itself into a complete new genre. That is why I stopped playing genshin, if i wanted to play some mario party copy I'd play that instead of that specific gacha. What should be expected is some game mode with different rules than usual using the combat mechanics of the game. And sure maybe some mini game here and there, but that should be optional and not take too much time.

I downloaded the game a few days ago just to check how good the game is. The fan service aspect is pretty evident and I'm perfectly fine with it. I really like the combat mechanism, it's one of the best, if not the best combat system I've seen on mobile, very mobile friendly and easy to adapt.
I too don't understand why things like gacha currencies, battle pass, and interactive skin gacha, all are so complicated. As a new player, I see everything thrown onto me and I'm stunned. HI3 was much worse than that but this game needs to fix gacha elements. There are so many currencies and I'm stunned. Overall, I like how they managed to make a really good game with beautiful, seductive waifus kicking ass of those enemies, it feels refreshing to say the least.

Been two months since this video is up so I assume you have noticed. But for those new that stumbled upon this video, event logistics are NOT permanently unavailable.
They will return whenever the limited characters are being rerunned, together with their free *4 signature weapons. They will be under the current event's shop, together with the current character's banner. This has been done ever since the second limited characters' rerun (Chenxing*5, since Acacia Kaguya does not have limited logistic)
Edit: They will even also rerun the paid costume limited character too (outside the battle pass skin)
Overall, you made a good summary of the game. Although there are some details missing that others has mentioned. Also, I would critique the way you compare gacha games. It is alright if you set Genshin as your standard. But I don't think it is fair to compare EVERY points and mechanics to it. Some, it's okay, but everything? Ehh pass. Because, not all gacha games are made with the purpose to compete with Genshin. This game, outside the gacha and anime style, is not even the same genre as Genshin.
Seasun actually did another game mode outside shooting, which is monopoly board game for year-end event. And in the first ever event (Chenxing*5), they also did a board game which I don't know what the name is, it is similar to gameboy-era pokemon but staged. You missed them.

Some of their works are available in SEA but probably not anywhere else in the world. This is probably their first major gacha waifu game.

As someone who played Snowbreak almost from launch I really enjoyed it, both before and now after the "culturalization" of it. I dont mind the tacticool look they went with previously but it was clear it didnt appeal to enough people and with the fanservice approach they have now brought in a lot more, which leads to more resources for further development and finally a bigger team, something thats already being seen now and will only get better in the future. Tho I do wish they wont go too far with it as it can potentially ruin the uniqueness of the characters and the world.
The story and characters are for me the main reasons to stick around. The first few chapters that the game originally released with are rather confusing and lack cohesion but they mainly serve to build the world and introduce the characters, with varying degrees of success, but it is a cool lore. The writing does get significantly better later in and the characters are all unique and likeable and have generally great designs.
Gameplay is smooth and fun, any and all characters can be vible in any content if built well and many see niche uses in various modes, you can genuinely play just who you like best, be it as a dps, support or a healer.
The monetization is nowhere near as bad as genshin and the developers are very active in talking to the community, consistently and VERY quickly reacting to backlas and suggestions to certain things, there was recently a misstranslation in one of the mails the global version got, and it was fixed the very next day after people let the devs know.
Also they were very clear with maximum prices for costumes and maximum amount of skins per version and such, making it clear that they will not be overpricing and will mainly concentrate on producing more varied gameplay modes and more story. As well as making statement that if there will be a dual 5 star update, one of the 5 stars will always be given for free, this patch we got 5 star free Enya with perfect rolls on her gear for free. And in general they are a lot more generous with currency as well, you can even eventually max out all 5 stars as a free to play, having option to farm for their dupes in limited quantity per day. You are quit a bit off with the genshin analogy tbh, vastly different production values being key thing to acknowledge here (which is likely why it failed as a game for everyone) but with a much smaller team and company that is only to be expected, however like I said above, with greater profits now come more possibilities and as you say, it has great potential.
It has good QoL, nice graphics, great base system where you can buy furniture and interact with the operatives, runs very well on even potato PC (tho at first there will be fps drops as the each map loads). The biggest issue atm is lack of variation tho they are working on that and imo its pretty unclear where the story is headed at the moment, each new chapter/arc seems to be mainly its own thing.
Its a really solid game all around, tho if you do not enjoy harem/fanservice kind of games, this will not be for you. Initially the devs tried to appeal to everyone like hoyo games do, but it almost killed them so now they make it very clear what genre the game is and who the main target audience is and its been going really well for them, they are grateful to their players and act that way and the players in turn have faith in the devs and the game's future.
There has certainly been cultural shift when it comes to the game but so far it has imo been for the better, just on the basis of the game not only surviving, but thriving and while the community is often even annoyingly thirsty, they tend to generally be quite welcoming if you arnt there to tell them to go touch grass. If the fanservice shift wont affect the characters in a negative way, as in make them only revolve around the MC without a personality of their own, Ill stick around to see how the story plays out for sure.

Not that the game should be expected to have the quality of genshin but that if they were going to use a very demanding gacha system they should offer more quality. You have to give if your going to take. At least that's how I interpreted it

Did you know that before Genshin Impact, gacha games didn't have a pity system? Hoyo standardized that dude, thanks to the success of Genshin Impact, even the big ones like FGO were forced to include a pity system.
As for Snowbreak, they only copy Genshin's character banner, their weapon banner works like the regular one, and these days they even have the option of 100% guaranteed (no 50/50 coin flip) for small higher cost than the regular 50/50, is up to you which one you prefer.

@@Lofwyr yeah I know what gacha was like before pity 🤣 sorry I'm not gonna worship hoyo for birthing the hell that is the 50/50. A system designed to piss you off enough to pay for more pulls to get the character. And furthermore the idea of adding weapons to the character banner is the biggest BS I've ever seen. I'm not spending money in a gotcha game to pull for a lame three-star weapon I'm paying to pull for a character 🙄. Keep the characters in The Character banner and the weapons in the weapons banner. Genshin should never have gotten away with making that an acceptable practice it's designed to further dilute your pulls and make them less valuable because it lowers the chances of even getting a low value character. There is literally no upside to that. Not sure why I should be thankful to genshin for any of that. Whatever game popularizes a guaranteed hard pity banner that chokes out that hoyo BS will get my praises.

@@brendonbewersdorf986 I am not saying that you should worship Hoyo, but it is fair to acknowledge what good they did for the gacha genre, or would you prefer a no pity system at all? Instead of a guarantee, would you perhaps want to roll and roll, trying to get that miserable low % to get 5 stars that every gacha has?
I know that pity system isn't perfect, but it is better than no pity system at all, lol.
If Hoyo were actually greedy, they wouldn't give free 4* weapons in events, quests, or make those 4* weapons viable at all, my point is, Hoyoverse can do a lot much worse if they wanted...
Could they do better? Of course, but they won't move their lazy and cheap asses unless they get strong competition to force them to.

    • @brendonbewersdorf986
      @brendonbewersdorf986 5 месяцев назад

@@Lofwyr I prefer hard pity. Hoyo making a half assed pity system doesn't qualify them for any sort of compliment. The false dichotomy of either 50/50 or no pity is very silly. Even if I accepted your premise that genshins pity system going mainstream is a win. Genshin popularized weapons banners, weapons in the character banner, and the 50/50 coin flip. 3 extra evils for one good is not a fair trade no matter how much you talk about pity systems. Do I prefer pity? Sure I do but genshin also never invented it either.
As for dealing with low rates I also just flat out don't pay or play gacha games with extremely low pulls Chances. I'm not a gambling addict. The only reason those gacha with such low chances (including genshin) still exist is because stupid people buy buy and buy no matter what. I only support games If I like the devs after I've played F2p for awhile before deciding to spend. If a game is stingy or doesn't feel like it's appreciative of my time I quit or stay F2p it's that easy.
I'm sorry but giving out mediocre 4* weapons crumbs isn't exactly glowing praise lol I would rather cut the weapons banner out entirely.
Sorry dude but I'm not the type of person who just swallows whatever a gacha gives me and says thank you. Their greedy corporations who don't give a damn. They only respond if you hit them in the wallet and not pay for what you don't support. I won't stop demanding better when they keep demanding my money lol.
