I have listened to the BBC Radio Scotland Hogmanay show, with Bryan Burnett, for years. This is always the first song of the New Year on that show, after Auld Lang Syne at midnight, of course.
It is an anthem. As a scot, I am currently missing parties and Christmas ‘dos’ due to covid and this song is ALWAYS played at parties here. They did another version just a few years ago with Peter Kay (stand up comic) with loads of UK 80s tv stars in the video.
If there isn't a dance floor full of limbs, wallets, wigs, falsers by the end of this, then the party has been crap. And then Loch Lomond for dessert! Runrig

I love this song so much. the vibe and energy is so uplifting and fun. I can't stop dancing around whenever I hear it. The movie is Beeny and Joon. you will love it. It's about a young intellectually challenged woman who lives with her protective brother. All is well until a quirky young man comes to town and becomes friends with the girl. If I'm not mistaken, they fall in love much to the dismay of the brother. No worries, no sexual content in this movie. Johnny Depp is great in this movie as always as he creates such memorable characters. It's truly a fun movie. Enjoy!

These guys are amazing and this song is often referred to as 'the unofficial Scotish anthem'. Every scotsman knows the words. Letter to America is a great song. In fact another great movie to check out is called 'Sunshine on Leith' wnd contains loads of the these guys hits. Its a lovely film both sad and uplifting. And the guy make a small cameo right at the begining. Its does have a bit of language in it but not too bad.
If you want great Scottish band with a great song you need to watch Loch Lomond by Runrig with Donnie Munro
Put that on at any party and everyone is up dancing and singing along
This recording is unique! NO other Scottish rock/pop singers/bands have ever sounded Scottish! Which is sad and weird!. Same for Ireland AND - most of the time - for English and Welsh pop/rock performers. Weird, weird, WEIRD! They've all sold there artistic souls!

I usually keep it quiet that I'm a proclaimers fan, lol, but I have been listening to them since they first hit the scene in 1983.

As corny as some people think this song is it’s a nostalgic song for me and I enjoy it even though I grew up on hip hop AND rock/ metal music
The movie is about people with mental disorders being to find love and live normal lives and not being locked up and controlled
