I have a great story, so just last week my family hosted a Japanese lady at our house for 4 days and it was amazing she was pretty old and the nicest person ever🥰 and her English surprised me it, especially compared to our Japanese skills lol 😅 we took her to quite a few local places and she loved hiking and bring outdoors, btw it was absolutely hilarious and amazing that this elderly Japanese woman was in better shape than like 90% of people i know and could walk forver haha. We went to some festivals and fairs and to places that I've been to like every year, or even more, but after how she saw everything, and how she talked about how beautiful it all was, and just the absolute joy that came from her gave me a genuine appreciation for my home, upbringing, and my surroundings that I've never had before. And i know that just sounds so silly but I just can't explain it perfectly. I'm so young and my opinions are made from quick reactions and naivety, 2 decades of life is nothing. Its still boring old Ohio that I would like to move away from in the future, but it has a soul, and a real purpose to me, and maybe even some beauty ❤
And when i tell people about it, other than my closest friends, they just don't get it. There's nothing wrong with them, but they just don't see it the way i do, if that makes any sense. Its always the "WHY??" Why would someone ever want to host some person from Japan??? Why in the world would you ever care about meeting some Japanese person?? And some pretty terrible jokes that I obviously won't repeat, not that they really effect me at all, like I'm not mad at any of them, or anything they say, (some of them are even extended family or friends) it's just not how I see things, even though I grew up in the same area.
Saying goodbye was so tough. It was all just 4 days, so it's really crazy to say that but it was such a great experience that I can't bring to words. At least I held it together until i got home 😭😭😭
All of the stories she told about her family and friends were so amazing, and the time we spent together can never be taken away, and the experiences we had changed my life for the better 🥹🥰we will stay in touch and I will go to Osaka so she can show me around next time, hopefully it will be soon enough, I don't want to wait too many years!!! 🇯🇵

That is a great story! Although I was waiting for some line in there like "and she thinks Liko is WAY too strong already!!!" but no it stayed wholesome the entire time instead. I'm glad that had such a positive effect on you, seeing someone who appreciates the world so much. She's an inspiration, traveling around like that. I'm not sure what punishment she had to do in order to end up in Ohio, but I'm glad she enjoyed it!
Okay, I couldn't resist. But for real, stuff like this is why I encourage travel so much to other people, you gain such a deep appreciation for the world out there, and you can hopefully bring that back to wherever "home" is for you. If you thought this experience was life changing, just wait until you actually go to Osaka! (P.S. say hi to Luap for me, he lives nowhere near Osaka but I'm sure you'll do me the favor)
Part of this as well is just the wisdom that comes with life, as well as having a non-American perspective. Now's not the time for me to break out sociology textbooks, but your visitor would be a fascinating case study, that's all I'm saying. It's awesome that you were able to have such a good experience. I'm used to hearing equally impactful stories in the Discord server like ray telling us about how they had ice cream at school last Friday. But hey, whatever makes each of us happy, right!?!

Such a good episode, i/alot of people think that Lucius is likos ancestor and this can be backed up by bulbapedia (the site I trust) saying Lucius’s hair colour is black with blue underlights and the same goes for Liko so I strongly believe they are related
I am of the same belief, that's why I had it as a tile on my Horizons bingo card from the start, that Liko will be confirmed as a descendent of Lucius! In this episode, we even saw Lucius's glove have the same symbol as Liko's hairpin!
And they eye colors are alike to

It was interesting to see Arboliva responding to Liko by using Grassy Terrain to empower Sprigatito's SweetScenting-Leafage from its Seed Sower ability after being hit by Moltres's Air Slash
It caught my attention that this only happened after Liko formed some kind of bond with it, like her connection with Arboliva "activated" that power
One of these days I swear Sprigatitos leafage is gonna become Petal Blizzard. Either that or something like Leaf Storm or Magical Leaf. The way that the anime treats learning certain new moves is like a new more powerful move replacing a weaker one. Like how Pikachu’s Electroball morphed into Electroweb in SM, or how Fuecoco’s Ember became Flamethrower.
I also think a fairy type move would suit Sprigatito very well. Maybe like Play Rough especially.

Terapagos does not appreciate the disrespect of being called "weird turtle thing!!!!" although tbf none of the Horizons characters know its name either, so maybe they call it "weird turtle thing" behind its back. That would be mean though

Part 1 :Pocket Monsters: Liko and Roy's Departure

Here me out. The capture of Galarian Maltras was not earned or deserved. Liko established her goal of being a pokemon trainer that seeks to understand how pokemon feel in episode 21 and how 2 episodes later she is able to calm down a Galarian Maltras? That does not make sense. Liko did not have any development b/w the episode where she establishes her goal (episode 21) and this one to justify such an outcome. What should have happened is that Liko tries to connect with Maltras, connects with it somewhat, but fails to calm it down. Maltras flies away so liko has to develop her skills to encounter it again and then calm it down. We complained about Goh being rushed bc he battled and caught a flygon in episode 33 and scicune in episode 52, and I am in no way defending those moments (bc they were horrible), but this isn't much better. Liko and Roy are finding Lucius's pokemon way too easily and conveniently. You could forgive the arboliva capture bc it was the pokemon that introduced the whole "find and catch Lucius's pokemon" storyline, but no excuse for Maltras. We are only on episode 23, Liko and Roy are both rookie trainers (the show does not even pretend like they are experienced or skilled) and they already have 2 out of the 6 of Lucius's pokemon which they so conveniently ran into.
I LOVE HORIZONS and it does A LOT of things right, but one area that they are lacking in so far is challenging the cast to overcome hardship in the long term. Sure, Liko and Roy struggled and had to work and problem-solve to calm down Maltras in the short term for 1-2 episodes, but there was no long-term struggle. Even getting Liko's pendent back from Spinel took only 2 episodes and how here Liko, Roy and Dot able to defeat magnaton and Beeheyam so easily? I think part of the problem is that the anime writers are not used to writing such serious, threatening and epic moments so easily into a series so they are struggling with powerscaling and pacing for some of these moments.
The original series with all of its flaws, did manage to create long-term conflict for the protagonists. Ash saved a dying charmander, they became best friends, when it evolved it stopped listening, nothing ash did worked, it would obay him only when it wanted to test its strength (eg, Blain's magmar) and then lost him his first ever league. It was only when ash saved it from near death again over 100 episodes later that charzard started listening. All these characteristics gave ash and charzard' stroyline4 emotional weight and a satisfying payoff. Charzard forced Ash to grow and mature in the long-term to earn charzard's loyalty. The "catch Lucius's pokemon" storyline is interesting and flashy on paper, but the pokemon are practically being handed to them without any nose to the pavement, long-term challenge. The Lucius's storyline so far lacks emotional weight due to being to easy and convenient.
Cool to see that Terapagos’s power of the time travel mist or whatever it is was shown in the anime before being revealed in the game.
This may mean that these moments are literally Terapagos bringing the ancient hero to the present to comfort his heroes. Granted I’m not caught up on this show so I don’t know if that’s already confirmed.

Great video Mark! Maybe one day I’ll get around to watching the rest of Pokémon anime outside of just the first episode. If I’m being honest though I think that when you said “Hey everyone it’s Mark” you spoke a little bit too quickly. When I watch the anime maybe I’ll buy membership.

I completely agree with you that the beginning was kind of lame, either the writers scrapped the idea of Fride and Amethio fighting Moltres at the last second, or it only was used as a cheap cliffhanger. Oh well, not a big deal. Also, as you mentioned this episode confirms that the pendant's and ancient pokeball's power activate when Liko's in imminent danger, but it seems to me that Arboliva is the one watching over Liko since something similar happened in the battle with Spinel. I can't wait until Liko becomes a powerful enough trainer to actually command Arboliva and Moltres in battle!
I feel robbed of the action sequence that Friede and Amethio vs Galarian Moltres could have been
i do belive one of lucius pokemon is ahisuian, i belive it might be a hisuian arcanine. it is a popoluar hisuian pokemon. and in the preview for the next episode we are reviled that liko grandmother has a regular Arcanine. so it be cool tide in if lucius is liko ancestor to have on in her family have a pokemon he had.
There was one thing from the Isle or Armor in the anime, there were those project mew trainers with the Urshifu. That was it though/
I honestly don’t like how they handed over Roy’s entire plot story to Liko. I mean? Roy literally became a trainer and went on this big adventure because he looked up to Lucius, he grew up listening to the stories of this legendary trainer and wanted to be like him. that’s the entire reason to why Roy wants to leave the island and go on an adventure and search for Lucius’s Ancient Pokémons. there was many setups for Roy to be Lucius’s successor, But now that was given to Liko instead…
Also i notice they try to give Liko all of the Ancient Pokémons while Roy now only fixated on just Rayquaza? But why? the first few episodes Roy was clearly interested in everything related to Lucius including all his Ancient Pokémons, but now they made him only interested Rayquaza (which is still an amazing pokemon ofc), while Liko gets to inherit the legacy of Lucius and all his Ancient Pokémons, like that’s just not fair, both Liko & Roy are protagonists, but now Roy’s entire story was handed over to Liko, making him feel like just along for the ride rather than an important main protagonist… I just hope they don’t neglect him, and gives him the spotlight he deserves.

Right that made me so mad like what the heck this is supposed to be Roy goal while liko learns about the pendant. They made liko look like the chosen 1 and Roy a random nobody. The only way this makes it ok is if my theory is true that liko and Roy are twins separated at birth by their family because of a prophecy about twins being born in the family so the parents and grandparents separated the twins and treasures. So they are both Lucius descendants and will each get 3 of his Pokémon and Roy will get some other treasure that belongs to Lucius that he didn’t have a chance to find out about so that makes liko and Roy equal 3 Lucius Pokémon and a legendary each.
Characters are allowed to have related stories, y'know. Liko stole nothing.
@@Mrdengekioh They should not separate Lucius Pokémon 5 to 1 that is so unfair to Roy they should be equal. If they split it evenly of 3 each and Roy getting another treasure legendary of Lucius like liko has terapagos then that is fair.

Why would Friede wanted to hide Terapagos? I'm still baffled about this.
To keep awareness of its existence as low as possible, maybe? Like, the explorers probably all know but they can't do much with that info if no one ever gets to see Terapagos enough to say "Oh yeah, they had that weird turtle pokémon I've never seen before" when the explorers ask. It could help Liko and her friends avoid being found by them (well, Spindel, anyway, if he didn't get access to that tracking device Amethio planted; the latter's very much following). Even if the explorers have nothing to do with that decision, the brave asagi crew could still be protecting Terapagos by not drawing attention to its existence. Who knows how many more thieves/poachers they'd have to deal with if Terapagos' existence was publicly known.

I would also give this episode an 8. It would be a 9 if they would've mentioned something about how Friede and Amethio escaped.
I think it's actually fitting with Friede's personality because we have seen that he tends to omit important information in the past.
So I think we'll get to know what happened but from Amethio's perspective later on.
Yeah it does seem to be Friede's thing that he just brushes over important details. But let's let that be Friede's thing, not the writers!
6/10 This episode lost a lot of points for me because of the whole amethio and friede situation. Like that is journeys level of laziness, disrespect for the evil team and neglection for the continuity!! The battle against g.moltres was pretty predictable and wasn't that exciting too, fuecoco and charizard using flamethrower together was my favourite part of the whole episode though.
But you know horizons,they always make up for it with that insane preview. The ultimate explorer assault is upon us!
I feel almost the opposite in many ways, I really liked the battle against Moltres but I thought the preview was predictable and nothing special, much like all of the Horizons' special previews😅
@@EliteTrainerMark I say the only way they'd recover from this is is if they give us a flashback to friede and amethio getting trapped with galarian moltres and show us what the hell actually happened.
As for the preview, I thought they were gonna release the explorer admins one by one,but I wasn't expecting them all (minus agate) to show up in one preview 😮.
