    Appreciate the time you have taken in the video to graph your testing results, very interesting. I agree with your assessment of the odd arch on the Salomon. Happy hiking.

    Really informative review, sir…thank you! You totally justified my purchase of the Merrell Moab Speed which will be arriving tomorrow! Excellent review!

    Thank you for this great comparison! Personally, my current favorite low hiking shoe is the Oboz Bridger Low B-Dry Hiking Shoe. I'd be most interested in how their proprietary but quite rugged outsole would do in your "grip or slip" test...Happy New Year!

    I tried Merrell Moab FST Ice+ Thermo for winter, they held up great on the ice, but were too narrow for my foot, so narrow that knuckles between my fingers hurt.
    Another hiking shoes I tried for normal hiking were La Sportiva Akyra GTX - overall very comfortable, but a big disappointment occured as they rubbed my ankle. So does on my foot La Sportiva Bushido II GTX (which are slightly narrower and have a harder sole than Akyra, but my achilles were bloody after 1 km). Very good shoes that I tried are Salming Ranger - the most comfortable I've ever had on my feet. They are not cold even when the outside temperature is around 0 degrees. They are just not produced anymore :( ... I am looking for another pair of hiking shoes and perhaps try the Merrell MQM Flex 2 :D

    You should try out the Terrex Gore-Tex free hiker 2

    Thank you for helping me find my next low top for riding my ebike.
    I wasn't looking for the most comfortable but something with good support, underfoot, s little side protection and no Goretex.
    This review led me to your Adidas Terrex review.

    Your "Totals" don't seem to relate to the combined scores. Where does Moab Speed's 14 come from?

    The grip test is tough, flat garage concrete is such a small, if even negligible at all, comparison to trail and mountain terrain. But I understand that it would be very difficult to test all of these shoes in the most accurate conditions.
    I own The Swift R3s and I can comfortably say that the grip on those were better than any other shoe I have ever worn in the mountains. Rock scrambles and rock slabs were no match.

    • @Dusty_Hikers
      @Dusty_Hikers  Год назад +1

      This year I tested for traction and the Swift R3s took first place. They tear up dirt and loose debris.

      @@Dusty_Hikers you are one of, if not the only, reviewers that reviews Adidas hiking Footwear in the proper conditions, I swear 90% of the reviews are people just talking about them and showing off the fashion sense, I swear the majority of people do not take these shoes seriously for a hiking shoe and it's mildly frustrated, thank you for what you do.

    For a great many of us, you missed by far the most important consideration. If the shoes are not available in wide sizes, then they are of no use.

      If he dosent have a wide foot that requires a wide shoe, how does he test that for you?

    I’ve had the Salomon x ultra 3 and for me in the UK they were much better than the Merrell Moab

    • @Dusty_Hikers
      @Dusty_Hikers  2 года назад +2

      I think the Salomon x ultra 3 are better than the Salomon x ultra pioneer that I tested. Also, Salomon are ever so slightly narrow for my foot. I think that is the real problem. I would say that the compound Salomon uses for the soles (Contragrip) is inferior to Vibram and other proprietary compounds.

    Hi, the terrex sole on wet surfaces does not have the same grip as on dry surfaces. Excellent review

    • @Dusty_Hikers
      @Dusty_Hikers  2 года назад +1

      True. They are good for traction but poor for grip. Vibram outclasses all other soles for grip in my opinion.

    SALOMON TRYS TO USE LESS MATERIAL ON FOOTWEAR BY CUTTING MATERIAL THE SHAPE OF THE FOOT BUT THE FOOT CAN NOT SPEAD OUT THE FOOT NEED SOME SPACE INSIDE THE SHOE INTERIOR

    • @Dusty_Hikers

      Yeah right? Their lasts are too precise perhaps. I think the Salomon X Ultra 4 are a bit roomier. My new pair arrive this week. New round of testing coming out early January.

    I kinda doubt your hiking ability. People who buy these shoes are hiking wilderness areas, not the hill behind the cul de sac. Testing in your garage isn't useful. sorry.

    Not necessarily true....cleats get no traction on concrete but are awesome in the dirt and mud. Just saying..

      Yes! My next round of shoe reviews for 2023 are being performed now and I have a test specifically for grip and another for traction.
