- There are six restaurants in just 17.5 meters of "Gamagori-kita Ekimae Underground Mall," the shortest underground mall in Japan. The oldest of these is Yakitori Chidori. Founded in 1945, it is currently run by the second generation, Setsuko, 82, and the third generation, Tomoko, 45. The restaurant has been operating in the basement for over 55 years, and is crowded every day with longtime regular customers. Some customers have been coming for two generations, father and son. It is an important place that is indispensable to Gamagori.
The soul food of this restaurant is yakitori (grilled chicken), which is made from the thighs, livers, and gizzards of the parent birds, which are carefully prepared and grilled. The more you chew, the more flavorful it becomes!
Both salt and sauce are excellent! The taste, which has not changed for 78 years since its establishment, is truly Gamagori's soul food. Another attraction is the owner, Setsuko, also known as Seki-chan.
