Bought my first one of these for $225. While that was en route to me I saw one in a local store for $200 so I grabbed it too cuz I couldn’t imagine not enjoying it.
I think for the age AND PROOF it’s good value there. Most 18s are 90ish or even less proof. Bruichladdich are always generous with their ABV…even their baseline stuff is 100. To go this high with their oldest expression (when they could have squeezed out a few hundred more bottles) is pretty awesome

Great review, Cam! You are completely right about the barbeque characteristic of the peat on this. Interestingly it's a flavor I do get on certain Octomore releases. The tropical fruit note is absolutely there. I find that it's actually a characteristic of Bruichladdich's distillery profile. I get it a lot on their Islay barley releases. Fantastic whisky! I love the interplay of the sweetness from the sherry and red wine combined with the heavy peat influence. If it weren't so pricey I would definitely back this one up!

Great review. Glad to see Scotch Sundays make the return.

Been waiting for this review Cam! I cracked my bottle last week and on the nose it was the best Scotch I’ve ever had the pleasure of smelling. The richness and balance is outrageous. The palate was not as good, but it was a neck pour and I didn’t have time to rest in the glass properly. I need to go back for a proper second tasting

This is one of the better drams I've had this year. It may be my favorite of 2024 so far.

    Appreciate the review Cam.
Looking forward to it hitting the shelves here in CT. (The Bruichladdich 18 did, so I assume we will??)
But we've also not yet seen the New Riff 8 year bourbon drop yet either, which is making me nervous! 😅

Agree, one of the best I have had this year.

As someone who didn't start out a peated whisky lover, I loved this one. We tried it next to the 9-year SC:01, and they were both incredible. My favorite peated Scotches for sure.

Can't wait to get into this one. Marty - @whiskeyKnows was kind enough to send a bottle, but have been distracted with work and a certain River Roots Rye that showed up (fan-freaking-tastic!). Cheers all!

Now I’m happy that I got one at retail. But it was one per person. that and it was a cannonball run just to get that bottle.

So if I have money to burn, do I blow it on the Bruicchladdich 18, or back up the PC 18? I guess I need to crack the bottle I have.

Back up the PC18…. Have had both and I’ve had a LOT of PC. The PC18 is outstanding.

Nobody blinks at $200+ bourbon, which isn’t imported. I’m fine with the price.
