"Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name"-Day is one day away! I wanted to celebrate this game's release with a mix that combined a lot of Kiryu's battle-themes throughout series history. I discovered the series through hearing Independence For Violence by RUclips-surfing back in 2009, and it led me to seeking out more of the series' music, and ultimately had me be a huge fan of the games. So I wanted to reflect on that a bit, with this mix that says "No matter how much you try to erase it, the funk goes on forever more". Here's to you, Kiryu! Welcome back!

Man imagine a fan in the future playing the games in story order to suddenly go from the first Dragon Engine game to one of the most evolved versions of it... would be quite the shock.

It’s crazy how I went from 0-K2, then WENT BACK to the PS2 versions of 1 & 2. I guess that did make the transition to 3-5 easier. From there, it just felt natural. I’m just glad I didn’t give up on playing the rest of the franchise and binged it as much as I did within a year and a half. I’m up to Infinite Wealth and the only other game I haven’t played in English is Dead Souls (which hopefully can be decently emulatable soon enough) and I’ve pretty much enjoyed every game. LJ’s probably my favorite RGG game personally, though. It’s just…damn near perfect.

As a fan of your Funk goes on remix from five years ago.
Man i love how this one feels more grand and wiser, but it still keeps the original's energy and you could say *strength*.
Also those sneaky reference to Force Addiction, Isolated Fight and Receive you (That last rolling eyes fall surely felt awesome)
Keep up the good work and I hope some of these day you could make a remix for Victory Road from Yakuza 5 with vocals cause that song has one of the greatest "anime opening vibes" of all the saga.

I think this is the best version of Funk Goes On, feels like a true end to the story of Kiryu.

there are defiantly more references and I might have gotten some wrong, props for adding these little easter eggs!
Number 1, 2 and 4 are correct! Number 5 is correct-ish on the basis that it's the chorus melody from the original Receive You, which is also used in the Tech Trance arrange. Number 3 is on the correct game, but incorrect guess on which song(s) you hear.

Would you ever consider an Ideal for Violence remix on its own? This is perhaps my favorite Funk Goes On remix, my other being your 2015 version.

FORCE ADDICTION
As lovely as his Kamurocho fight theme in LAD8 being the original, Yakuza 1 PS2 version of Funk Goes On is, I think this is gonna be modded in to replace that. Rather than be JUST a callback to the original, instead have it be primarily a callback to the original, but with callbacks to his entire journey.
This should be the main theme of Yakuza/Dragon Style of Kiryu
