The tools just hadn't been invented yet. But there's no reason as to why they couldn't have been invented by ancient Romans. They just happen to have been invented much later.

Quantum Physics: Encompasses all the phenomena that cannot be explained by classical physics. This includes things like:
Particle-wave duality: Particles can exhibit both wave-like and particle-like behavior.
Quantum entanglement: Two particles can become linked, and the state of one instantly affects the other, regardless of the distance between them.
Quantization: Physical properties like energy exist in discrete packets (quanta) rather than continuously.
    Quantum Mechanics
Specific Framework: A mathematical framework used to describe and predict the behavior of particles at the quantum level. It provides the tools and equations (like the Schrödinger equation) to model the interactions and properties of these particles.

It amazes me how difficult it is for some people that you (usually) don't come up with an advenced idea just out of the blue. You almost always always, use prior knowledge and experience to inform your future works. Bad example but, You don't just build a huge skyscraper one day, you learn from cumulative works of many lifetimes of past architects and their knowledge passed down and work off those for new ideas or technique. Even with trial and error you usually need at least some knowledge learnt from someone before you.

If we're going to steelman the obvious troll's idiotic position, we _could_ suggest that he was trying to imply that if we teleported all of our modern understanding and technology and education into the brain of someone alive however many thousands of years ago he said (was it 20k years ago?), then they could understand quantum mechanics.
But like always, being fair to the Stupids backfires hard against them, because then the question literally becomes "Can people today understand quantum mechanics?" and that's no longer steelmanning the same thing, so we've just _double_ humiliated the troll. The only way his question makes sense is if it's a different question entirely. Oops.

Quantum mechanics is so counter intuitive that there is not a single archetype that corresponds with it, I dare anyone to come up with a concept from history before modern science, that corresponds with quantum mechanics.
To even state that people in pre-history could have known quantum mechanics through archetypes, shows the pernicious nature that Jordan Peterson has thrown into the philosophy debates.
Lots of young, and dumb, "debaters" like the one you heard here, think they can woowoo nonsense their way to a victory in a debate.
