I appreciate the transparency you always display. It's the "polar opposite" of anything the flat earth community puts out. Having also done many time-lapse videos myself, I give you extra props for going through the process while the flerfs on the TFE basically showed up with a GoPro and warm clothing.

And Jeran left flat earth and Jonathan while being a flat earther, was not really someone who seemed to be too deep into it, and I'm not sure where he stands now, from what I heard of him he is also not a flat earther anymore, but I don't really know.

Taking these errors into account it doesn't disprove the the globe predictions and the results. The sun does not set and clearly you see it 360° around you within those 24 hours.
All those people, cameras, raw files, 360 footage, time stamps, videos, drones, etc, and they still say it's fake. I mean, Dave took a picture of him taking a picture of his camera taking a picture! This is as airtight as it gets! Anyone who says it's fake shouldn't be taken seriously at this point. They obviously won't be persuaded and they don't care about the truth.

I think at this point TFE has probably made it much, much harder for the flerfer movement to recruit new people. The existing grifters and true believers won't be swayed, but it's now a much harder thing for them to recruit new adherents.
@@Green_Tea_Coffee It also caused some serious splintering. There are the people around David Weiss who acknowledge the 24h sun and somehow try to add it to models. There is the Oakley/Dubay guys who just ignore it or claim it is faked, then there are also the demonstrable realists... well only one, who does whatever, I don't really know. The split into those two camps is fairly interesting. The DIRTH people acknowledge the sun doing what it does, but it is hard to tackle them because they don't have a real explanation what people saw. I think Jeran already tore down a few of their ideas. The Oakley and Dubay people don't even go there. They just claim that it is faked or that what the sun does tells you nothing about the earth, which would be true... if the flat earth was not illuminated by the sun. Many of those stumble if you either take away their arguments about a fake, which was done step by step by releasing more material over time. Like the drone flight sounds fairly ridicolous in a studio does it... but this wasn't known to many flat earthers initially, that they flew a drone 5000 ft into the air. The most prominent losses are likely Jeran and Jonathan (from what he said, he also isn't a flat earther anymore, but he never was that deep into it I think). But it isn't unlikely that it also convinced some others. We know that before it started it rankled people that Dubay and Oakley did not join them. Unlike other flat earthers both were invited as guest and would have their costs covered. I think the 3rd one is David Weiss, but unlike the other two he acknowledges the 24h sun... at least he did the last time I saw something from him. So he doesn't have the struggle to explain why he claims it was faked but did not want to ensure it is not by going there.

If the earth was flat, those 3 photos would show the same pattern of sun spots in the same orientation.
I recall a pilot chasing the sun. He tried to keep it in his sight all the time to prove it doesn't really disappear, therefore proving the globe is spinning. Anyway 15° per hour drift. Thanks bob.
At a bare minimum, when observed from one location on earth, an EQ mount proves we at least live on a cone. But once you move north or south any non-negligible amount the altitude of the EQ has to change in relation to the round globe we live on.
@@daveeckblad that's correct. having to change the orientation of the mount to match your latitude wouldn't be necessary on a cone, all you'd need to do is fix it to the apical angle. or keep it at a fixed 90 degrees if we lived on the curved surface of a cylinder with north in the centre of one flat end and south the other.

It is actually ABSOLUTE proof of a globe. It is designed based on a tilted, rotating, orbiting sphere. It absolutely could not give the results it does, on a flat motionless earth. If you notice the orientation of Dave's tracker pointed basically straight up. In my back yard it needs to be point at 51 degrees, or all the other angles based on location. Other wise accurate tracking is not possible. I have offered $10K to any flat head who can duplicate the results, for long exposure astrophotography, basic strictly on flat, motionless, horizontal earth. 5 years later, after posting a dozen times. Zero response and of course $$$ is still in the bank. Flat earth's greatest problem is, you cannot prove something that isn't.
Anyone claiming that the Sun changes size when it rises or sets is literally saying "beware, I make wild claims about trivial stuff I never bothered to actually verify, despite it being piss easy". Also, seriously, your videos and your thoroughness going through everything are once again exceptional and as always setting standards for transparency and full disclosure. that's like one of the first things you learn when you take even a passing interest in astronomy. stuff at the horizon looks bigger to the eye because you have things to compare the object in the sky to. when things are closer to zenith, you have nothing to compare them to. a very well optical illusion that we use to demonstrate the concept of checking angular size to grade school children.
@@rakninja Yeah, but that's a separate thing, Flat Earthers actually claim the Sun/Moon get *smaller* when they are closer to the horizon since they are (according to them) getting further away from you, and prove that by showing videos of the Sun's glare getting smaller as it dims near the horizon, because they don't understand glare and the actual Sun are two separate things (also see Dubay pointing out that "the Sun" gets "smooshed" in the 360 footage while it's actually the glare that can be seen).

@@karlchilders8215 actually, there were 2 insta360's so presumably there is another video from the other one, showing both Dave and the first insta360 that filmed Dave, which also will have been filming the other insta360. This is all getting very meta and recursive! Basically, whatever the FEs say TFE should have filmed, they did.

The flat earther trying to argue that the sun changes size at sun set.. does he not realize that the sun appears BIGGER at sunset, when according to flat earth, thats when it is further away??? Meaning it should look smaller??? 😂
The next problem is that the same logic should be true for the moon. Yet the moon is not bright enough to cause any glares, so it more consistently appears at the same size as the sun does. That is why I always ask them for prove that the moon changes size throughout the day, they can't show any of the weird glare images they do with the sun for the moon.
It depends on the altitude the footage was taken from and the amount of atmospheric lensing due to things like humidity etc. There are tons of sunset videos where the sun shrinks almost to a point. When it appears to get larger the air is magnifying it due to atmospheric conditions. Amazing that this is only ever brought up by globies when trying to dismiss long distance curvature tests but never anywhere else.
There is an optical illusion whereby the Moon (and Sun if made safely dim) APPEAR larger when near the horizon. This is a well known phenomenon, part of the cause being the proximity to terrestrial objects versus when higher up in the large, empty sky. In actual fact, refraction more commonly makes the Sun ACTUALLY slightly smaller when quite near the horizon. The lower limb is lifted more than the upper limb, resulting in a departure from circular to elliptical. The horizontal dimension is unchanged, but the vertical squashing causes a reduction in angular area. The same occurs for the Moon, of course. But slightly complicating this is the fact of the Moon's comparative nearness, which results in the Moon being slightly farther from an observer when low in the sky, and hence appearing slightly angularly smaller. Between observers where one has the Moon at his zenith and another who has it on his horizon, the difference in distance to the Moon equals 1 Earth radius. I might mention as well this interesting fact. The lunar parallax is about 1°, due to the Earth subtending about 2° as seen from the Moon. This means that for observers on opposite sides of the Earth having the Moon on their horizon (one could be seeing moonrise and the other moonstone, for instance), the Moon's position against the starry background will differ by 2°, or some 4 Moon diameters.

For the local sun believers, if you bothered to observe the rules of perspective, you'd know that moving objects change size in frame most dramatically when they're closer, not when they're farthest away. So the sun at noon should show an obvious change in angluar size by early afternoon. It shouldn't take until just before sunset to see a sudden change in size. A car zooming away from you will halve in angular size in a second or two, but a car a half a block away will stay near the same angular size for many seconds.
And another igit that doesn't comprehend that the atmosphere acts like one giant lens and is more pronounced the closer you get to the horizon... Also, NO ONE knows what the sun actually is or how it actually works. Google it if you don't believe it...

I saw a beautiful image today while hiking up a rocky hill that was about 150 meters high. During sunset the clouds were being illuminated from beneath, I immediately took a picture to show my flerfs friends, as it can't ever happen on a flat earth. It really amazes me how people that say that "you need to trust what you can see", can't actually see how silly their arguments are when compared with reality.
That's because flerferism isn't a belief based in fact. It's truly a faith-based one. And frankly, I think it's mostly just a way for people who are extreme outliers to peacock about their unwillingness to believe literally anything that they consider to be mainstream.

Maybe not respected but deep down they know the results are true. Every one of them now knows they can go to Antarctica to debunk or witness the 24 hour sun for themselves but they won't waste their money because they know what they'll see.
A good debunker who cannot only admit he made a mistake, and then go back and figure out what went wrong, then explaining it so succinctly is a debunker I trust and will continue to follow. Last April I brought a good camera to misquamicut beach, and I shot block island from 3 feet above the water, then shot it 20 feet above the water, and I could see a little more of the island from higher up, and the wind turbines behind the island were much lower than they should be. There’s no explanation for that if the earth is flat

Just a reminder that disproving anything that Dave presents, doesn’t prove a flat earth, you still have to prove the earth is flat on your own. Elephant in the room - sun is moving R to L above and i see it moving L to R in the UK. Here's the kicker for all flerfs ; how can the sun be moving in both directions at the same time when sun spots prove its the same sun ? Irrelevant to whether or not it's a 24 hr day ?

Great video Dave, I want to photograph the sun with a solar filter in the future, and also the moon, I just need the tripod and the solar filter. BTW it's funny how you can provide the raw files from the camera and have flat earthers claim that the pictures are "manipulated" when they can easily download the files and check for themselves, but I guess the camera industry is in the conspiracy to always show the sun at the same size in the files.
Go to the observatory in Mill Hill London. They have a telescope with an eq mount powered by a clockwork motor. It has only one axis of rotation. Explain that Bwrian GLOBE CONFIRMED 🌎 💯 FLAT FAILED 🌎
a basic star tracker only has one axis but a proper eq mount also ha sthe declination axis - if Dave had used one of those he could of adjusted the up/down drift from the comfort of the shed over wifi.

I think at this point TFE has probably made it much, much harder for the flerfer movement to recruit new people. The existing grifters and true believers won't be swayed, but it's now a much harder thing for them to recruit new adherents.

There is the Oakley/Dubay guys who just ignore it or claim it is faked, then there are also the demonstrable realists... well only one, who does whatever, I don't really know.
The split into those two camps is fairly interesting. The DIRTH people acknowledge the sun doing what it does, but it is hard to tackle them because they don't have a real explanation what people saw. I think Jeran already tore down a few of their ideas.
The Oakley and Dubay people don't even go there. They just claim that it is faked or that what the sun does tells you nothing about the earth, which would be true... if the flat earth was not illuminated by the sun. Many of those stumble if you either take away their arguments about a fake, which was done step by step by releasing more material over time. Like the drone flight sounds fairly ridicolous in a studio does it... but this wasn't known to many flat earthers initially, that they flew a drone 5000 ft into the air.
The most prominent losses are likely Jeran and Jonathan (from what he said, he also isn't a flat earther anymore, but he never was that deep into it I think). But it isn't unlikely that it also convinced some others. We know that before it started it rankled people that Dubay and Oakley did not join them. Unlike other flat earthers both were invited as guest and would have their costs covered. I think the 3rd one is David Weiss, but unlike the other two he acknowledges the 24h sun... at least he did the last time I saw something from him. So he doesn't have the struggle to explain why he claims it was faked but did not want to ensure it is not by going there.

The sun spot photos taken from 3 different locations on Earth showing the same pattern of sun spots on the surface of the sun but in different orientations proves that the Earth isn't flat. If the earth was flat, those 3 photos would show the same pattern of sun spots in the same orientation.

The fact that an equatorial mount works at all is pretty solid evidence for a globe earth.
At a bare minimum, when observed from one location on earth, an EQ mount proves we at least live on a cone. But once you move north or south any non-negligible amount the altitude of the EQ has to change in relation to the round globe we live on.
@@daveeckblad that's correct. having to change the orientation of the mount to match your latitude wouldn't be necessary on a cone, all you'd need to do is fix it to the apical angle. or keep it at a fixed 90 degrees if we lived on the curved surface of a cylinder with north in the centre of one flat end and south the other.

It is actually ABSOLUTE proof of a globe. It is designed based on a tilted, rotating, orbiting sphere. It absolutely could not give the results it does, on a flat motionless earth.
If you notice the orientation of Dave's tracker pointed basically straight up. In my back yard it needs to be point at 51 degrees, or all the other angles based on location. Other wise accurate tracking is not possible. I have offered $10K to any flat head who can duplicate the results, for long exposure astrophotography, basic strictly on flat, motionless, horizontal earth.
5 years later, after posting a dozen times. Zero response and of course $$$ is still in the bank.
Flat earth's greatest problem is, you cannot prove something that isn't.
Anyone claiming that the Sun changes size when it rises or sets is literally saying "beware, I make wild claims about trivial stuff I never bothered to actually verify, despite it being piss easy".

that's like one of the first things you learn when you take even a passing interest in astronomy. stuff at the horizon looks bigger to the eye because you have things to compare the object in the sky to. when things are closer to zenith, you have nothing to compare them to.

@@rakninja Yeah, but that's a separate thing, Flat Earthers actually claim the Sun/Moon get *smaller* when they are closer to the horizon since they are (according to them) getting further away from you, and prove that by showing videos of the Sun's glare getting smaller as it dims near the horizon, because they don't understand glare and the actual Sun are two separate things (also see Dubay pointing out that "the Sun" gets "smooshed" in the 360 footage while it's actually the glare that can be seen).

The next problem is that the same logic should be true for the moon. Yet the moon is not bright enough to cause any glares, so it more consistently appears at the same size as the sun does. That is why I always ask them for prove that the moon changes size throughout the day, they can't show any of the weird glare images they do with the sun for the moon.
It depends on the altitude the footage was taken from and the amount of atmospheric lensing due to things like humidity etc. There are tons of sunset videos where the sun shrinks almost to a point. When it appears to get larger the air is magnifying it due to atmospheric conditions. Amazing that this is only ever brought up by globies when trying to dismiss long distance curvature tests but never anywhere else.
There is an optical illusion whereby the Moon (and Sun if made safely dim) APPEAR larger when near the horizon. This is a well known phenomenon, part of the cause being the proximity to terrestrial objects versus when higher up in the large, empty sky.
In actual fact, refraction more commonly makes the Sun ACTUALLY slightly smaller when quite near the horizon. The lower limb is lifted more than the upper limb, resulting in a departure from circular to elliptical. The horizontal dimension is unchanged, but the vertical squashing causes a reduction in angular area.
The same occurs for the Moon, of course. But slightly complicating this is the fact of the Moon's comparative nearness, which results in the Moon being slightly farther from an observer when low in the sky, and hence appearing slightly angularly smaller. Between observers where one has the Moon at his zenith and another who has it on his horizon, the difference in distance to the Moon equals 1 Earth radius.
I might mention as well this interesting fact. The lunar parallax is about 1°, due to the Earth subtending about 2° as seen from the Moon. This means that for observers on opposite sides of the Earth having the Moon on their horizon (one could be seeing moonrise and the other moonstone, for instance), the Moon's position against the starry background will differ by 2°, or some 4 Moon diameters.

I’d love to have your experience and knowledge. My (late) Dad built an observatory with a rotating roof in the back garden. I wish I inherited his ingenuity.

It’s funny how huge the difference is between when flerfs are criticised vs human beings being criticised. Really interesting video.
For the local sun believers, if you bothered to observe the rules of perspective, you'd know that moving objects change size in frame most dramatically when they're closer, not when they're farthest away. So the sun at noon should show an obvious change in angluar size by early afternoon. It shouldn't take until just before sunset to see a sudden change in size. A car zooming away from you will halve in angular size in a second or two, but a car a half a block away will stay near the same angular size for many seconds.
And another igit that doesn't comprehend that the atmosphere acts like one giant lens and is more pronounced the closer you get to the horizon...
Also, NO ONE knows what the sun actually is or how it actually works. Google it if you don't believe it...

I saw a beautiful image today while hiking up a rocky hill that was about 150 meters high. During sunset the clouds were being illuminated from beneath, I immediately took a picture to show my flerfs friends, as it can't ever happen on a flat earth. It really amazes me how people that say that "you need to trust what you can see", can't actually see how silly their arguments are when compared with reality.
Unfortunately, for most of them, it appears to be a bunch of childish arguing instead of having the moral character to admit they are wrong.

Last April I brought a good camera to misquamicut beach, and I shot block island from 3 feet above the water, then shot it 20 feet above the water, and I could see a little more of the island from higher up, and the wind turbines behind the island were much lower than they should be. There’s no explanation for that if the earth is flat
Things get lower due to perspective. When you were lower to the ground, the perspective changed. That's the FE answer. You're welcome.

Those "trucks" that transported the luggage from the plane are called snowcats. They're used to groom the snow on ski mountains and they're also used to groom the track for the Antarctic marathon apparently lol
they're compacting the snow underneath them pretty damn well. But expect a flat earther screaming bloody murder when you step over groomed snow without leaving much of a dent in it...

It must be so frustrating trying not to make any little mistakes or forget anything, knowing that flerfs will be looking for any reason to call it fake. The whole idea of sending Jeran and Witsit was for credibility, right? These people are so mentally impaired.
I mean, you took a picture of you taking a picture of your camera that was taking the picture! Time stamped, raw files, 360 video, drones, video, etc, and they're STILL calling it fake, CGI, in a studio, etc. If this doesn't prove a globe, then it absolutely proves there's literally NO evidence they'll accept and they don't care about the truth.

Dave has done more to dismiss any flat earth argument than flat earth has done to prove it’s still flat. Just a reminder that disproving anything that Dave presents, doesn’t prove a flat earth, you still have to prove the earth is flat on your own. It is impressive the amount of work and care Dave has gone through to make sure any argument flat earthers come up with has a clear answer.
Rookie mistake, everyone knows that the second you disprove the Round Earth the only logical replacement model is the Velociraptor shaped Earth

Elephant in the room - sun is moving R to L above and i see it moving L to R in the UK. Here's the kicker for all flerfs ; how can the sun be moving in both directions at the same time when sun spots prove its the same sun ? Irrelevant to whether or not it's a 24 hr day ?
I mean, there are so many elephants in the flat earth room, I'm pretty sure the whole movement can be classified as a circus.

Great video Dave, I want to photograph the sun with a solar filter in the future, and also the moon, I just need the tripod and the solar filter. BTW it's funny how you can provide the raw files from the camera and have flat earthers claim that the pictures are "manipulated" when they can easily download the files and check for themselves, but I guess the camera industry is in the conspiracy to always show the sun at the same size in the files.

I got an A4 sheet of solar filter material and made my own with an old cereal box, scissors and duck tape.

Go to the observatory in Mill Hill London. They have a telescope with an eq mount powered by a clockwork motor. It has only one axis of rotation. Explain that Bwrian

His treatise on GPS is however quite stunning.
a basic star tracker only has one axis but a proper eq mount also ha sthe declination axis - if Dave had used one of those he could of adjusted the up/down drift from the comfort of the shed over wifi.

First thing I noticed when I saw the moon the fist time from Antarctica, I said, wait, it looks upside down! lol Duh.... uhh.... yeah, it will be. But wasn't expecting that and no one else seemed to notice. Spent two winters there no Sun for months, awesome!
