- It was about time I featured my good friend @shane.n55 BMW 335i on the channel. I have witnessed this car transform from a completely stock vehicle into an insanely fast machine. I really enjoyed spending time with this 335i and found that it seems to strike the perfect balance between, comfort, performance, luxury, aesthetics, and practicality. I daily drive my 2009 E92 N54 with full bolt ons, a tune, 440whp and 160k miles.
There’s not a better ride for a young guy who loves cars.

The transmission with XHP flash shifts as quick as the DCT, but you will need a transmission cooler to track reliability.

Diva Blnk pure stage 1 is more bang for buck ... pure stage 2 you have to do so much to get 500 hp I’m pure stage 1 and I’m at 413 wheel 489WTQ

I thought the n55 motor was only placed in the e90 sedan 335i in 2011. Makes sense bc the n54 is in the 335is unless bmw put it back in just for that model
I think with the current direction BMW is heading towards, the older 3 series cars like this e92 will start going up in value, especially the manuals. Highly unlikely to see an increase like the Honda S2K did, but these e92’s can be bought for very cheap right now; like 12-15k for a decent one. That’s what we saw with the S2K. You could buy them for around 10k for a decent one in 2012. Now, for a decent one expect to pay 25-30k.

I have 2013 bmw e92 335i with the n55 auto. Tell your friend who owns that car if he is upset with the transmission to get an XHP stage 3 transmission tune. My only down flaw about my 335i was the transmission response time and shift speed. but with the tune the Shifts are really fast! just as fast as the DCT And it’s priced decently too! Suggest you look into it 👍🏼

Do you know anything about rod bearing problems with the N55 motors, aspecially thos from 2010/2011?
I‘ve read about this in some US threads and now I‘m a little bit scared...
N55 is probably the most reliable turbo engine bmw makes. Besides the b58
Rod bearing problems are like 90% on the m3's S65 motor
I have a 2011 and I have never heard of such issues before!

thank you for watching! As far as rod bearings are concerned on the N55, that issue is very rare. Make sure to change your oil regularly, allow your car to warm up to proper operating temp, and don't abuse it while driving it.

Nice video as always Bro. Question; is Pure stage 2 turbo the brand name? And is that a twin scroll setup? And if possible could you explain to me the O.E.M. muffler mod that he has. Sounds like something I would like to do!
steven johnson inside of the muffler there’s a pipe that’s perforated. They cut it out and weld in a straight pipe through it instead, then they put the packing back around the pipes and seal it back up. That way it’s more like a straight pipe. Also, pure turbos is the brand. Stage 2 is the type of turbo they sell. The pure stage 2 for n54 is a twin scroll setup

I got N55 with stage 2+ tune + FBO and I use it as daily with no issues. I wanna upgrade the turbos but worried about the reliability 😬

I am pleased about this n55 video tho. Not a lot of n55 videos out there period. Just copped a 2015 335 m sport. Can’t wait to tune the fuck out of it. But I really do miss my 5 better looking more solid feeling better interior and way more features. The Harmon kardon sound system is overpowered for the 3 whole car sakes 😑 and I keep telling em. BMWs ARE TIMELESS

I am thinking this car feels just like my untuned n54 Pure High Flow right now. Even though it only has a base tune...the high flow turbos are kicking out 520whp or so... This Saturday, I will be tuning live with Twisted Tuning remote dyno. From Houston to NY. My goal is 600whp on Mustang Dyno (that would be over 650 whp on Dynojet). Don't want to bend any rods...even if I could take it to 700whp. It is already quite useless at 520whp... realistically speaking. Nobody can legally use even 300whp let alone 600.
And on the plus side here, I have xhp Stage 3 as well as the upgraded Propulsive Dynamics Transmission which has a nominal rating of 700 lbs. ft. of torque.
I know what you are talking about when you say the high end keeps going. For me, it feels like the car is evenly powerful all through the entire rpm range with no drop off like the stock turbos. And I just upgraded my stock intake manifold with the metal bmp intake manifold with top mounted port injectors...oh dear lord... it is crazy strong and zero fluctuations at wot...just pure super even and solid power all the way through the rpm. no hiccups at all or even any hint of straining.

I have a 2012 335xi n55 I love it as a daily. My engine blew and I had it rebuilt with forged internals and it’s so smooth I wanna upgrade and mhd then it but heard mixed reviews.
MHD Stg 2 or better yet E30 tune is the way to go unless you're doing a custom tune.
How'd you end up blowing it up?
Alec Siegel rod bearing. 😩😩😩 i was lucky and caught it really early but dealer was pushing for a new engine but went to a performance shop nearby and they had it for almost 6 months and I had them upgrade all the internals and replace pretty much everything wrong.
The N55 has rod bearing issues???
Joey McMahon Jr I can only speak for mine but the car had about 120k miles on it and that was my problem I haven’t heard too many n55’s having that prob though so idk

Isn't this a DCT car? All E92 335i N55's got DCT's in Australia. Even the LCI N54 335i E92's got the DCT here (unless manual ofcourse).
How did you like the BC coils?
i liked them a lot. Felt very good in the turns and for the price point i think they're a great option

Pure Stage 2 is the brand of the upgraded turbo in the car. FBO is full bolt ons, which means intake, exhaust, downpipe, intercooler, chargepipe, etc

What does the red button do on the steering wheel
It's not a button, it's sort of like a crosshair for the driver to know the orientation of the wheel at all times without looking directly at it.

The perfect daily driver until something breaks.. which it will happen and it will be expensive... specially if you don’t do your own maintenance. I’m speaking out of experience haha it’s a fun car and definitely delivers a great driving experience but if I could do it all over again.. I probably wish I never bought a 335i or a bmw ever..
My 335i was an N54 and I agree it was maintenance heavy. My N55 tho has been flawless, haven't had a single issue so far
Simply Car Things bro my n55... when those gaskets fail..omg the smell is so bad!!! I literally died in my car until I had the time to fix it and direct injection makes it such a pita to do such a simple task.. just thinking about it makes me cringe.

e92 is not a big car my guy. 2 series is just way too small. I have several friends over 6' that can barely even fit in my e90
compared to older BMW's the E92 is a large car especially for a coupe. The 2 series is lighter and smaller proportionally so it just feels more agile in the corners
@@SimplyCarThings Compared to the modern cars the 3 series competes with it's not any bigger. You can't really compare to 40 year old cars. People expect and want larger cars. Regardless of size I still love my E90

@@stevenboyko9176 I definitely agree with you on that, but it's funny cause the power delivery on this car is so smooth it doesn't make the car difficult to drive at all with the turbo upgrade. powerband is linear, and if you arent stepping on it youd never know the car had 500hp lol

No. Just no. The perfect daily driver is an abc deleted 335d. 400hp+ 600tq+ and 40 mpg. You really need to find a tuned 335d to review. Also the ZF trans tune by Xhp makes a world of difference.
