    Quality audio makes a HUGE difference in your videos and this will take it to the next level! And always remember to get the best audio first, because there's a saying in the music production world, "you can't polish a turd!" :D WATCH PART 2 HERE ruclips.net/video/fjQSTxFYki8/видео.html

      Hi Jamie, appreciate your support but can you help me with something I really want to do in Davinci Resolve 16 ?
      Basically, I want to get rid rid of the voices from the audio track of a video ( but keep the rest of the audio intact )and then replace them (the voices) with my own voice recording. How can I accomplish that ? Could you make one of your next videos about this ? Thanks a lot ! PS :Oh yeah, I want my voice recording to sound awesome as well so that may imply making 2 tutorials.

    • @alejandrostyle2132
      @alejandrostyle2132 5 лет назад +2

      If it can´t be done with Da Vinci, please suggest a program that can do it, Thank you !

    • @JamieFenn
      @JamieFenn  5 лет назад +2

      When you drag the video into davinci, the audio track should be there underneath it so just delete it and fill in the rest with your voice and layer it with a quieter background noise of whatever the shot has in it. (city streets sound fx, coffee shop, mall noise etc, whatever the case may be) and then use the technique that I'm posting a video about today with it :D

    Did not know about the pan tool in fairlight. One other lil trick is that at the end on the main out you can do a1-2 Db boost at around 4k mid to sharp Q (depending on the voice)to add energy. Subtle but your brain notices

    Dude, you made this so simple and understandable. Now I'm waiting for part 2. Really it's hard to find anyone who understands dialogue mixing. It's kind of arcane. I've worked as an editor since your parents were children and we mixed on magnetic film. Mixing wasn't done by editors universally until about 15 years ago. There was always a separate budget for audio. As many years as I sat next to mixers and watched and listened, I didn't have to actually know how to do it. Why I'm still working in my old age is a long story, and it wasn't my idea. Thanks .

    Great material! Although when I followed this guide and listened to the before and after of the audio I liked the before a fair bit better. Might be because I’m just recording and picking up audio from my iPhone.

      Hmm interesting. You don’t have to compress twice. Compressing takes away dynamics so that could be why.

    A nice starter for the basics, without having to know all the ins and outs. Audio isn't my strong point.
    I have 2 questions though:
    - Do you have to do this each time you start a new project? Or is there a way to save the set-up of this audio track, to be ready for other projects, so you don't have to go through this each and every time?
    - What is a good way to get a soft "male" voice to be a higher pitched "female" voice, without sounding like a chipmunk or robot? I've used the pitch plugin, but I've noticed that you can't really go beyond 1 semitone without it sounding fake. Around 60 to 70 cents seems to be the most, but still not to satisfying. I've also used the EQ the lower the bass frequencies.
    Cheers

      I have templetes for different types of projects. And as far as having a voice changer that would have to be a 3rd party vst of some sort.

    It would be soooooo cool if you could add in timestamps to the description for this video. Because a lot of these settings can't be saved to use later, I run through this video last thing before I publish, EVERY TIME. It would be nice if it were easier to jump around to each section, though.

      RUclips sometimes does it automatically. I’ll try and do it on future uploads 👍🏼

    What's up Davinci Daddy! Thanks for the video. I know I have been asking for it lately :)
    Cool tips on basic VO processing. I am more interested in how you are recording the signal, meaning what mic, room acoustics, how you are dampening noise. That signal of yours is pristine, man. What are you using?

      Ah ok for sure! I plan on doing a BTS of my videos and how I make them/workflow with DR. I'll make sure to include those details.
