      Metros are for the main city's inner movements like Delhi and Mumbai. Allows safe fast travel between the cities.

      Not just due to population. Regardless of population, urban trains are faster than metros for long distance. For example, if you want to go 20 km from Mira Road to Ville Parle, local trains will take 30 minutes while metro will take about 1 hour because of the stops and slower maximum speed.
      This is why in Tokyo, they have both urban rail for long distance and metro for shorter distance travel and last mile connectivity.

    Bcoz they don't need seperate track or flyover

    Modernisation track (ballastless) and signalling system needed to be done first especially Mumbai suburban railway network to upgrade to new train. Station redevelopment yet another issues. Needed to be better utilized by using elevated multi mode railway to address congestion in Mumbai local network. Your view

      @SiddharthRaiyani 10 месяцев назад +1

      Ballast less track not needed for suburban. Signalling system is delayed cause railways is developing our own signalling system like cbtc based on kavach system. Will take few years to develop, another few to test it out and then another few to manufacture and install.

      @@kamartaj3010 yes kavaach has been in development since 2012. There were many years of testing and then years of showcase in some short route to check reliability. And its only now that IR is expanding kavaach coverage, albeit slow. CBTC version may need less years in initial development but still need years of testing first so yeah atleast decade to go for version for suburban trains and metro train.

    Mumbai ki business aur residents grow hue railway stations ke pass. Isliye Mumbai me rehne wale log railway station ke paas me aapna Ghar ya kaam ko prefer karte hai. And that's how Mumbai was developed. Kafi salo se ye trend chalte aa raha hai aur logo ki life railway station aur local train se judi hai. Same time, metro sabhi ke liye Ghar se ya office se close nahi ho sakti. Hence, Mumbai local will cater most of the people for a long run.

    I don't think the local can ever be replaced by the metro at best it can supplement it for east west transit. Also I am not sure if we will see a reduction in cars, taxis, two wheelers and autos. In addition there seems to be no provision made for parking at metro station so the already packed roads of Mumbai are going to see further congestion. Over the last few years driving discipline in Mumbai is no where to be found, jumping signals, wrong side driving, private bus parking for office goers have become the norm and you very rarely find police stopping it.
