I was raised in Sweden but live in Ireland now and I love IKEA. I am told I have a stylish, cosy house and it is all done an a small budget because we prioritised paying off the mortgage instead off spending our money on expensive things for our house. Mortgage is paid off now and I love my house and IKEA. Great recommendations!
I am glad that our Swedish brand makes you happy with all its goodies in.... Scandinavian language is not a one unit thing... we have different languages but mostly understand each other.... except for Norwegian far up to the north and most of the Danish. A lot of the things you have in US, we do not have here... as for the doormat right now. No Hygge in our stores... If you saw the founder of IKEA, Ingvar Kamprad was his name and the last 2 letters is from his small little village where he started it all...a cute little town in the southern part of Sweden (which had a huge amount of emigrants during 1800-1920... approx 1,5 million people moved out..mostly to the US)... and all of the names are often from Swedish villages and just stuff... The pillow is FJÄDRAR, meaning feathers in english... Thank you for a lovely video and stay safe

Velvet curtains...purchased dark grey from Ikea at least 7 years ago for the Living and the Master. LOVED them... Going to purchase again as I have sold that home and the buyers asked if I would leave them.

Adore Ikea! I remember when I lived on the East Coast, and the closest Ikea to me was four hours away in New Jersey, and how excited I was when one opened in New Haven and I only had to drive an hour to get there. Now I live only 20 minutes from one. I can never move! (Just kidding...maybe)

I totally agree with the sponges matching your decor... I've also found rubber gloves in white to go with my kitchen...so i totally agree with Valentina's need to coordinate...its visually nicer especially when you've made the effort to decorate well
I love velvet curtains. I have them in my house in Canada during the winter for warmth and style. I also use them in my California house for luxury. Love them. But I’ve never been inside an ikea... I’m going to make that an event.

Your videos have been really helpful as we've been renovating our house, but now we are at the decor stage and I want it to flow and feel cohesive.

I paid $3k for shipping and my items were around $1.5k, that's only because I didn't have an ikea where I lived at the time. Also, all the items I got would have cost me around 20k or more if I just shopped local. So the shipping was worth it.

We were 10 minutes away in Copenhagen and went constantly. It was indoors and cozy during long winters and was like our home away from home!

I enjoyed this video. I Will order the velvet drapes for my office. Next time you have a carpenter build trim paneling (wainscotting) like that good-looking trim behind you, sketch him an overdoor in classical style- an “architrave” above your 6’8” doors. Make the architrave with a 3/8”x7.5” sanded board placed longest right on the top of the existing moulding, and top with 3.5” crown moulding on top and rounding the corner to the 3/8’s inch side. It will take your prefab 7’ doors to the next level and make them look taller and more custom. Good luck.
Certain Ikea products are made locally, so quality can sometimes change. Now I'm very happy because my Scandinavian design kitchen and my huge wardrobe is entirely made in Italy, which is amazing. I love Ikea so much I could live in one of theirs stores!
hahaha we have a huge Ikea in town and I think I own at least half the products you have shown. Another nice thing at Ikea, the smart home things. LED lights and plugs to make your existing lighting smart, so you can turn them on/off/or dim them using your phone. We use it besides the Philips Hue system.
I watch a lot of videos by interior designers (of course you’re one of my favorites!) and IKEA shopping is a loved topic across the board. I like so many of the ideas, however, I walk through my IKEA and buy nothing. I’m thinking most of the cool things are purchased online? When someone buys in Ikea or similar budget friendy shop they usually get a good deal. One does not save money when shopping. :)
