  • When we heard that a local PCA member had taken delivery of his Porsche Cayman GT4, we knew we had to get a closer look. Fortunately the car's owner, Mike Levitas, is also the owner of TPC Racing (24 Hours of Daytona champions), and he agreed to lend us his knowledge and walk us through the underpinnings of the GT4.

    My 20th Porsche! 18 have been 911S & Turbo S. This is truly the most amazing (to me) dating back to my first Porsche (1973 911S)
    OMG for this US Marine F-Outstanding. GiddyUp!

    Very awesome. As someone who is into Caymans and the chassis's, its good to see one beforehand. Lastly, anything like the Spring/Coil, Damper, etc is actually called Hybrid Unsprung Weight and half-half Unsprung or Sprung.

    so ... you started with the lugnut being different, but never told us what was different about the lug nut (rather, lug bolt) ... so, how is it different?

      My thought too. My first reaction is it has more weight ;-(
      I compared carefully many bits of the GT4 and the new 718 surprisingly a few things (like the cross beam that ties the two sides at the rear sway bar) they are gushing are also in the 718.

    Those exhaust headers look beautiful. Similar to long tube aftermarket headers. Certainly nicer than my stock 987 headers.

    This just goes to show how much 'stuff' Weissach threw at this car. As a new owner I found this absolutely fascinating... step beyond the Chris Harris video when he's talking to Preuninger with the car on the ramp, and I didn't think that was possible.

    Great GT4 chassis info .. PAG has finally started production of the mid-engine coupe. Dam, make my MY20 GT4 series II coupe in metallic grey LY7U w/black leather everywhere. Cheer's..This video strikes a fond memory when taking delivery of my MY98 993 C2S ..Day old new coupe In the home garage, up in the air, remove all 4 tires and laying on the garage floor discovering the 993's chassis. Nothing better. Good luck w/GT4 coupe.

    This video and another longer one convinced me to buy one. Had to go to Chicago to get it, and what a fun drive home (Philadelphia). Been tracking and a joy to drive. Just wish I was a better driver, but the car makes me look good.😇

    Mmmm... that little 3.8 six pot doesn't look like a Cayman S part either??

    I mean, those cars are almost perfect. But as an engineer, there is one thing that makes me wonder. It is the bolts for the suspension. Why does the bolt dont come thru the nut all the way as it is supposed to showing at least 1-2 threads. I've seen this on some Porsches and I cant figure out. No other cars are like that. It is against ASME and what not unwritten rules.

    Oh yes the GT4 thats the one that the Gearbox has to be replaced due to 3 rd Gear giving up as the Shaft was welded !! but better still its the Front Suspension Turrets where there is a Big Difference in that the GT4 ones crack and shear off as they are Alloy so all that weight Saving makes its a Ticking Bomb on Track.
    Not Bad for a Track Focused Car.

    is it true the GT4 is a limited production or will Porsche make more? Pls advise

    • @PorscheClubofAmerica
      @PorscheClubofAmerica  8 лет назад +1

      +636 OC It's limited production during this generation of Cayman, but Porsche has left the possibility of another GT4 open in the future.

      +PCAHQ The Gt4 Rs would be way faster then a 911 and for that reason they won't build one they said.

    • @llavero5
      @llavero5 7 лет назад +1

      No good reason, because 911 carrera is a city car and GT4 RS would be track car, and yet 911 GT3 faster.

    • @Hack_es
      @Hack_es 7 лет назад +1

      llavero5
      with the same Horsepower the Gt4 would be faster as a Gt3 because its the more modern car. Mid engine is faster then rear engine.

    • @llavero5
      @llavero5 7 лет назад +1

      Rocco0002
      But GT4 dont have same power.
      And "fastest because modern" is not a reason, per example:
      NSX-R: 7:56
      F360 CS 7:56
      F430: 7:55
      Anyway exist GT3 all years (GT3 RS 2016), dont know why you think GT4 is modern.
