Playing Instruments Made From Ice

- Tim Linhart was sculpting ice in Colorado when he decided to try something new: creating a giant, frozen violin. When a friend jokingly asked how Tim thought his violin would sound, it sparked an idea. Why not make an entire, functional orchestra out of ice? That was 21 years ago. These days, Tim is based in Sweden and gathers his icy ensembles to play in cosmic igloos. Grab a seat, and best don’t forget your coat.

I love your profile pic!!!
Me: I like nice music
Him: did you say ICE music?
This needs more likes
Unique way to play the music. My fingers will be stone cold after 5 minutes play that instruments 😄😅
Azliana Lyana ur fingers aren’t in contact with the ice otherwise it would melt
Asdfghjkl true but it’s still cold in the room
*_Is mayonnaise an instrument?_*
*Ice:* HOLD MY BEER

WAIT... if you froze mayonnaise couldn't you play it like these instruments????
More like hold my water
I guess you could say instruments made out of ice are pretty *cool.*
Wandering Hermit Crab Very....Cool!!

Keep going and you'll be on *FIRE*
Snowmen: *screams in ice *
Lol
This would have been far more interesting if they used the actual music from those ice instruments.
they did tho; the credits clearly shows that the music was made by Tim Linhart (aka the guy in the vid who made all the ice instruments)
@@anzahanifathallah They might have used Tim Linhart's music, but it definitely wasn't anything they were actually playing.
@@JT-iq8lm ok that's fair
@@anzahanifathallah How come most of the time a piano can be heard which is never seen?
The music may be made by him, but I highly doubt it was from the concert itself.
Shamayne it wasn’t a piano but a xylophone.
What's cooler than being cool? _Ice cold_
*alright alright alright alright*
Beat me to it
Kim Jong-un 😂
HEY YAAAAAAAAAAAAA
WEATHER WARNING: Strong chance of ice puns incoming at rapid speeds.

This is what I call creative genius! Beautiful!😀
Literally one of the coolest things everrrr
I looked it up, because I was so curious about how important the material of a string instrument impacts its sound. This article explains a little about how much the sound of a violin in particular relies on its shape and material: www.tms.org/pubs/journals/jom/0708/roncone-0708.html. Very cool stuff, learned something new. As much as I hate the cold, hearing these instruments live would be an amazing experience!
These people are so creative 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Careful, your emojis will melt the instruments, the seats, and even the concert hall.
They should play ice ice baby
They should play Under Pressure.
@@WanderingHermitCrab yes the better song, dosent have a pun tho
Nah you want Ice Under Pressure
Mind blown! 🤯 This is fantastic. Much respect to Tim Linhart, the ice sculpture/creator, the musicians and all involved to make this happen. Absolutely beautiful. 🙏🏼❤️
🧊🧊🧊❄️❄️❄️
C'est vraiment magnifique! Presque surnaturel.
**quickly plays music before everything melts**
It’s not the ice making the sound, it’s the metal string - the ice just helps the sound to vibrate.
I guess this is what chill music is all about.
Can Ling Ling practice with this ice violin for 40hours?
One word: REVOLUTIONARY!!!!!!!
I guess you could say they were playing the viceolin.
not funny
go shame yourself
Or icello
It’s not viceolin it’s iceolin
Silly play on words....
*Next showing:* _Ice Trumpet_
I wonder if there's a way to create a clear-through coating onto the ice that would resist the cold temperatures from leaving the instruments, but if so probably just for the temperature fluctuations since ice can still crack and cause the instrument to sound off in pitch. I recommend this man giving it time to research into there being any physical form of cold compression material. I would love to work with this guy
Awesome! U want an ice guitar lol
Beautiful!
when ling ling goes to play in a cold place for a concert and he forgets his instrument but still needs to practice 40 hours every day
That's so cool :0
Fantastic!
Super cool!
Ling Ling workout
XD
Us ling ling wannabes are everywhere
Oh my. How wonderful
You can’t make a bad pun about these ice instruments, because it would be a really cold pun
ASTONISHING
Now this is cool.
That's pretty chill
How wonderful.
Fro-Yo Ma... 🍦
Couldn't keep it in, heaven knows I've tried 🤭
Cool music!
It sounds cool.
Now that's just *cold*
I bet those Instrument Can't play SMOKE ON THE WATER!
*Now that’s Cold*
🎶 Ice Ice Baby!🤣🎶
Pretty cool
String player here. That would be freaking hard as hell on your fingers. I can't play too long under wind chill.
Tim: makes ice instruments
Sun:
Tim:
That's *cool*
You’d have to refreeze them after every performance
The audience was frozen after the performance!
excellent
Solid
Yay!
very cool
Make the strings out of ice then ill be impressed lol
I'm guessing you can't play these instruments very fast. If you have to be at a temperature where the instrument won't melt, then your fingers will be sluggish and numb. Once you get acclimated to the temperature your fingers will gain back some of the speed they lost.
It must suck to have your prized possession melt when you’re done with it
Sweet
Respect✌❤
Wait a minute, the string us not made of ice. But looks cool, I approve.
How tf would they do that
1:02 _WE CALL THAT A CELLO_
whats the song that plays in the beginning of the ice music section? and in the outro section
ICE COOL MUSICAL !
Can you make a grand piano OUT OF ICE? Just curious.
How on earth could they possibly stay in tune??
They should make a horn instrument with ice. That would be cool.
Eita mah!
Can I ask you something?which instrument does not function?
🤷♂️You should place instruments while high on ice !😎
Jay kay!😂😂
Where is the studio to see these artists?
What was the first song they played called? It sounds so familiar...
They say they make private concerts only to the elite snowmen.
Imagine it was a piano made out of ice
Anyone know what is the name of the music playing at 02:06? Thank you in advance.
What's the name of the piece they are playing.
Where can I find ice instrument music?
Should’ve played Winter by Vivaldi.
🤣🎶 I love intellectual humor
Playing instruments from frozen mayonnaise next please.
If the instruments are amplified (as are solid wood electric guitars), how is the acoustic property of ice important? Cool idea.
I was going to make an ice pun but that wouldent be *COOL*
If it gets cold in there they can’t forget they can’t turn on the heater
Can you make an ice DJ booth?
Can you make "icebox" refrigerator out of ice?
Dooooope.
hello big like 45 great video see you later
*LING LING WANTS TO KNOW YOUR LOCATION*
Vanilla ice
Lingling can make instruments made out of water in less than a second
Would the instrument slowly melt?
I require an Ice Trombone.
We found Ice on the poles of Mars
