Ive had the ‘24 50e for a year and it has been to the dealership 7 times this year. All issues with the screen (would go blank and not turn back on when the temp dipped below 20 degrees, couldn’t use climate control) and after the 5th time they finally replaced the entire display. Now back in the dealership with 3 other separate issues, all of which need to be replaced. I’m told this is a unique experience, hopefully they worked out some of the kinks for ‘25. It’s a shame because I love the way it drives and enjoy saving money on gas with the plugin hybrid but might be trading in for a regular gas x5. Also wish they kept the climate controls out of the screen and as actual buttons.
I have the same car. Has been back in the dealership more often than you. There has problems with the battery, steering, tailgate, and unknown creaking noise in the cabin. Very disappointed. I spent $86k
Yep. Mercedes started this trend way back in 2014 with the S550. Now every manufacturer wants the same look. And it makes it very cheap for them to manufacture because all of the controls are now in the screens and they don't have to design different dashboards for each respective model.
@@hellkitty1014Audi was the first carmaker to introduce floating infotainment, they went back to integrated screen now that almost every other carmaker does it.
I hate that cheap looking screen nowadays unless you’re driving in Bugatti, a Ferrari or a Lambo, all the cars and SUV’s look the same! Also BMW uses cheap plastic parts I was thinking about getting an X5 until I looked into it I’d rather get an F250 lariat with a 7.3 L V8 engine You would think on the X5M they wouldn’t use cheap plastic but they do the only differences you get a big engine and it’s a gas guzzler. Rear turn signals suck. It doesn’t fade from bright to dim, but from dim to bright so looks pretty bad during the daytime with sunlight. Time to have separate amber turn signals like Mercedes and Audi are introducing.
I'll be waiting patiently for that automated lane change with a look to cause its first accident. What a ridiculous and unnecessary system that adds additional cost and additional safety risk to those around the driver. BMW has really started to move backwards, both in their design elements, and in the technology they're including to hop on whatever trend is next. I saw those front turn signals the other day and I'll be happy to stick with a previous generation X5 for that alone, not to mention that it still has buttons for pretty much all of the functions, and doesn't have that heinous looking super-ultrawide monitor (with absolutely hideous thick bezels, what year is it, 2006?) for a gauge cluster. I also don't care for the little toggle joystick shifter. Even the push-button one Honda has is better looking for me personally. The tires on this bmw they tested is Bridgestone Alenza 3:45 . That might be a positive factor on low noise. Some folks with Pirelli P Zero or Hankook on the same 20 inch wheels complaining about road noise.
i love everything about the car but that long computer screen dashboard,,it just looks gaudy as hell and im shocked BMW would make something like that,,thats one feature i dont think i can overlook,,most likely buy something else.
I thought that as well, but in person the screens are not as imposing as they appear in photos/videos. The scale is well proportioned to the rest of the dash and I think looks fine. Functionality is up for debate though, as I'm not a fan of no hard buttons for climate.
I have a 2022 that goes back in July. I opted out of another x5 and even the x7 because of the awful light above the glove box that says x5 or x7. It looks so cheap and awful. I ordered a 760i which is so fun and has so much tech. I hope they change the interior lighting with the next update.
They should make a horror movie called attack of the screens ! Cell phone , tablet, wide screen tv , everyone is consumed with looking at screens and there even in your vehicle while you drive ! Can't escape them they're everywhere !
Hey, it's b m worry you. That front screen took hours to figure out. They were going to duct tape in on first but then the engineers thought it looked to secure . The inline 6 is solid though. Funny that
Best SUV currently on the market - GLE drives horrible, is over priced, and is built cheaply - Q7 is getting extremely old, is unreliable, and lacks the driving dynamics of the X5, the Cayenne doesn’t feel any better than the Q7 and to get it to the point of being better than the X5 it is close to double the cost
Q7 and GLE can’t compare to X5 or Cayenne, the X5 and Cayenne are way better although the Cayenne is priced as such where as the X5 isn’t, only “downfall” to the X5 is a relatively tight 2nd row for the size class which I can live with
@drgvrp_dashcam the Q7 and GLE are a joke, I would recommend looking at the X5, Q8, Range Rover Sport, and Cayenne, (in this segment) then choosing the one that fits you the best
@drgvrp_dashcam the Cayenne does have a larger rear seat although a smaller trunk compared to the X5 also regarding ride quality I felt the X5 to be smoother than the Cayenne but both are very comfortable for sure
@drgvrp_dashcam fair enough, the Cayenne def grips the road better when compared to the X5 although I feel like the X5 has better tech/more features for $20k less, I love both cars but when you consider that the X5 is also cheaper to maintain than the Cayenne I think I’d rather have the BMW, at the end of the day a SUV is a SUV, I’m glad you’re loving the Cayenne though and it’s def the gold standard

Oldie but goldie. Classic lines, good power, plenty of options, What is not to like? Other than... the price obviously 🤣. With all due respect your storage "donut test" is pointless and may as well skip it. Has no reference point other than promoting your channel's logo. Either do a proper test with a daily object that people can relate to or just state the actual dimensions in order to be useful. @@watchfuleye275 They can stuff whatever they please into that bin it's their channel after all. Wasn't trying to be disrespectful but the consistency of the review is off. Doesn't have any sort of order of measurement or gives you any useful insight about the size other than the visuals. I may seem petty but it just got stuck to me. Again you guys can do whatever you please and I wish you all the best. Cheers!
@@axx8326 I see what you're saying, but it is a relative consistent comparison as they are using the same sized donuts for each test. So if vehicle A will hold 8 and vehicle B will hold 10, obviously vehicle B has a larger compartment. Providing the actual dimensions in addition to the donuts sounds like a good idea.

I’ve been in the new X5 and it’s def very quiet although I do kind of doubt that 49.8db sound level reading and it’s def not quieter than the i7 I’ve been in before
@@hellkitty1014 the new X5 is very quiet from my experience but it’s def not gonna be quieter than a 7-series or S-Class (I’ve been in an i7 too), that’s why I’m kind of doubting the 49.8db sound level reading, to be fair these readings aren’t always gonna be 100% accurate but they’re typically 90-95% accurate which is impressive and having them is still valuable/educational information
Also the best looking car in its class, but stupidly expensive.
Cheap compared to the Cayenne
The tires on this bmw they tested is Bridgestone Alenza 3:45 . That might be a positive factor on low noise. Some folks with Pirelli P Zero or Hankook on the same 20 inch wheels complaining about road noise.
I like it! Are you guys going to drive the 2025 Audi Q7?
It just second facelift the next gen Q7 coming next year as 2026 model and Audi Q9
New X5 is amazing, my dad might cop one soon, Q7 can’t compare to the X5 tbh yet they’re both $90k fully loaded
@@CarGeek360 The Q7 is older platform will be next gen next year probably surpassed X5 by little bit if look at Audi Q6 which is first next gen car.
@@RonsmooveTI I highly doubt the Q7 is going to surpass the X5 considering the past track record of Audi and BMW
i love everything about the car but that long computer screen dashboard,,it just looks gaudy as hell and im shocked BMW would make something like that,,thats one feature i dont think i can overlook,,most likely buy something else.
I thought that as well, but in person the screens are not as imposing as they appear in photos/videos. The scale is well proportioned to the rest of the dash and I think looks fine. Functionality is up for debate though, as I'm not a fan of no hard buttons for climate.
have owned three different models and they all looked about the same
I have a 2022 that goes back in July. I opted out of another x5 and even the x7 because of the awful light above the glove box that says x5 or x7. It looks so cheap and awful. I ordered a 760i which is so fun and has so much tech. I hope they change the interior lighting with the next update.
One of the best looking BMWs. Here in Germany i would choose the Diesel version. Because is has a very low fuel consumption and a lot of torque!
Bout time they change the instrument panel. Mercedes already have this on their 2021 GLE
They should make a horror movie called attack of the screens ! Cell phone , tablet, wide screen tv , everyone is consumed with looking at screens and there even in your vehicle while you drive ! Can't escape them they're everywhere !
Why are car manufacturers still holding onto the quilted seat design for dear life? It’s so outdated in my opinion.
This is a phenomenal SUV.
As an owner of a 2024 X5 I can say the 2025 model is exactly the same as a 2024. But it’s a good thing because it is a great car
@drgvrp_dashcam the X5 not having reclining rear seats is def not ideal for some although for me it’s not a dealbreaker
this base model launched at 2018, when will the new generation come out? its been 6 years already.
WOW - that interior is QUIET
It really is, I’ve been in the new X5, it’s amazing
That look at a mirror and it changes lanes for you is a schupit feature! Unnecessary!
If ppl were mad that BMW drivers didn’t signal before….
@@sunnyta619 that's because the signal switch is too small
The original point of LED lighting was they light up quicker. Massive fail when BMW made LED turn signals behave like incandescent lights
I have a 2020 X5 that I designed myself. It KILLS me that you have to get the M to get the Bowers and Wilkins sound system. Because of this I won't be getting another X5. 2025 Acura MDX Type-S here I come!
FWD based Acura MDX over an X5?? Ewwwwwww
Huh? Type-S is AWD
x5 40i might be the most reliable suv you can get.
Any idea if the rear cross traffic alert comes standard or if it is part of a package on the 2025 xDrive40i?
You guys always do an amazing job with the reviews. But I’m not paying 100k for fake leather lol
Sensafin has leather-like properties, exclusive three- dimensional quilting, and surface perforation to enhance seating comfort. This premium material ain't your grandfathers Corinthian leather. Buy the Merino skins if you don't like it.
these are the perfect loaner cars!! not meant for long term ownership!
Funny how you do a proper cabin noise test but you stick to the donut test. Just sayin'...
@@watchfuleye275 They can stuff whatever they please into that bin it's their channel after all. Wasn't trying to be disrespectful but the consistency of the review is off. I mean you take all the time to give the viewers exterior -interior dimensions, power train, acceleration and an accurate noise test but you put random donuts into a storage that some ppl may consider useful.
Not perfect since we don't know how big the donuts are, but I think more meaningful than the coupons they formerly used. Providing the actual dimensions in addition to the donuts sounds like a good idea.
Do not question the donut. 🥯
It’s very nice!!!!
Indicators look bad
look cheap
No spare tire? Seriously?
Pretty nuts they want like $560 CND plus $400 in tools about $1100 for it all.
Can one get Ventilated Front Seats without having to option Up to Merino Extended Leather?
I believe so. You just need to select it as a standalone option
Based on driving enjoyment alone, If you had to choose the (2025) x5 or x7, which would you pick? Disclaimer, I don't really need the third row, but would be nice to have on occasion. Did you enjoy driving either one more?
By and large, they drive extremely similarly. You could consider getting an X5 with the optional small third row?
@@CarConfections Just put a deposit down on the x7. Smile meter is off the charts! Had to come and watch this video again. You guys do a phenomenal job on this channel. Thank you!
BMW
Back seats not so confortable (no recline)
Why would anyone buy this? When for the same amount of money you could buy a lincoln, jeep, Lexus, and Acura for less money with way more features and real leather.
Because it's the ultimate driving machine! 😂 I have a 2022 X5 and I love it! It's been a far more fun experience than any other car that I've ever owned or driven. 🙌🏾😆😍
Saving up to buy one in 15 years woo!
Awesome 👍💯🆒
The long floating tablet screen similar to 2014 S Class
It does for sure which in my eyes is a good thing
Great review
Another great video. Thanks guys
Smooth drive, reliable ride.
until it's not and then take out a loan to get it repaired
nice reviews.. i would like to know where i can find those cameras. thanks
Thanks! The cameras we use to film what part?
@@CarConfections the cameras you used inside the car when you were doing a test drive review...
BMW NO SHIFTER 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎 Toyota it is. 🤷🍻
The problem is the screen is cheap looking and even if you get the X5 M I have a mechanical engineering and mechanic background because my uncle has a shop. I would help him out on cars for free. When I worked on my dad’s x5 m, I noticed they used cheap plastic parts. What is sad is X5 M owners think they are getting high end everything, only the engine is bigger
2025 BMW X5 xDrive 40i M Sport Package!
Single best SUV for $90k, that’s why my dad is getting one
My next car..
a
I have a 2024 and love it!!
when is it ready to order?
Heated seats are optional? Are you sure?
At least for the pre lci x5s, front heated seats were standard
Enjoyed your channel for the last two years. We used the reviews to guide us, with our own research as well. Your format is easy to follow and informative.
Awesome, thank you!
X3 outsells this by far
It has not for the last 2 years in the U.S
