Lions do not usually go anywhere near the waters but the level of trust Meg has with Kevin is crazy. If he goes into the water, she would definitely swim to get to him. Just an amazing bond a human can have with wild cats. Remarkable!
That’s a myth. Lions are very comfortable in water. While with very little water u don’t see many playing in the water with most waters having crocs or hippos which will kill a lion. They know this so are very weary. But as u see here some areas where lions exist they are very comfortable and can spend much time in water.

The primary difference between Kevin and others who have been attacked/mauled/killed even after raising a large predator, is that Kevin doesn’t think of these animals as his “pets,” he thinks of them as companions that he has a responsibility to care for and respect. For Kevin, the lions in his care are all unique individuals with very distinct personalities and dispositions and he never forgets that, nor that they are in fact lethal to humans if the human is a dumbass. Kevin has been injured, but he admits the reason he has is either because he forgot himself in the moment (I know of only one occasion) or it was purely accidental - as in the lion was responding to him like it would any other member of the pride, but unlike another lion Kevin’s human flesh doesn’t stand up to lion teeth and claws like another lion’s skin/flesh would…

❤️ KEVIN RICHARDSON human Ambassador for lions he has taken good care of his animals in his sanctuary spreading awareness to the plight of lions in South Africa ❤️
Sadly, Amy (one of the two cubs they introduced) died last year. I have been following Kevin's channel since 2017. The content is very interesting and hard to stop watching.
These shows rarely tell the whole story. He has immense respect for those animals and is always on his guard. But he raised all of those lions from cubs. Most of them were found abandoned or their mothers killed by poachers. he raised them and keeps them safe as that park. They are not "from the wild," as in never have had human contact, but ARE kept in an animal sanctuary. He never forgets what they are and what they can do. There are always people on the outside of the fence watching in case anything happens. He probably understands lions more than anyone else in the world. He respects them and they seem to respect him right back. He never pushes things beyond what would be acceptable to the lions. Edit: Kevin Richardson has a whole channel called The Lion Whisperer dedicated to his lions and spreading the word about the plight of the lions in Africa. If I remember the numbers right, atm it's estimated that in the next 20-30 years, wild lions will be extinct in Africa due to poaching, big game hunters and farmers poisoning them. Even animals preserves like his are under attack from poachers. Conservation parks have to have armed guards to protect the animals from poachers and even so they don't always catch them all when they sneak in and kill the animals.
Kevin's love of the lions under his care is only surpassed by the tremendous respect he has for them. He is truly a blessed man who has dedicated his life to these amazing earth wanderers.
If you haven't kept up with Kevin since releasing this video, you should check out the cheetahs he is caring for until their release back into the wild. He does not interact with them as much however because the purpose is rehabilitation and release. But all 8 are beautiful. It was nice seeing Amy again. Although it was a punch to the soul. She is now running through Heaven's fields so to speak. Its amazing how much I miss a living being I have never before met in person.
The thing with most predators, even if you have know them since birth, you can never act like prey. It doesn't mean dominating them or acting "above" them. It's...it's a confidence I guess. you might get bitten or wrapped or clawed on accident and you simply can't react like a prey item in that situation. Because the wrong reaction in an "Accident" situation could trigger a food response and that's when things get BAD. You said "Psychology" in the vid and it's true. A situation like this is as much about the psychology of the animals as much as it is the development of a relationship over time. How often do families fight? you can tell from the scratches on the faces of the lions that they get smacked by another pride member from time to time. The idea is to recognize when you're the one who's "in trouble" and diffuse the situation so a "fight" never starts. My friend has snakes and is constantly surprised at how his snakes react to me, and how I manage them even when I do things that he would never do, simply because I read the body language and determined that what I was doing was acceptable to the animal. Luckily, I have never been bitten, I'm sure it will happen at some point because, well, it happens. It's one of those things that you have to be mentally prepared for and willing to accept. Kevin knows that he can't just walk into the middle of a pride he knows, let alone try to walk into the middle of a strange pride.
Do you remember the Las Vegas tiger act starring Siegfried and Roy? They had an act with tigers and Roy really loved his tigers, Then one night, one of his favorite tigers bit down on his neck and he's been disabled for his entire life. No more tiger act. It only takes one wrong reaction from a lion or tiger for them to kill you!
You have a valid point, but remember, tigers are solitary animals by nature, whereas lions are social. So if you are accepted by the pride, maybe it works.
Like Kevin dean schinder also have same feelings with lion and he also have a lion pride in hakuna mipaka In one interview dean said that Kevin was his inspiration That was imcredible

1:49 Idk about New Zealand, but ironic that a woman with those long nails would get scared at even the chance of a lion jumping on a human to kill him, when at least here in the US they would do the same with a man's heart. No compassion.
Yeah, that guy didn't raise his grizzlies. He just built a co-existent relationship with the ones around him, so it's a bit of a different situation. They didn't grow up with constant human contact and saw humans as an opportunity to get something and when a human couldn't provide, the co-existence is over. Kevin's cats have always relied on human contact and have only seen Kevin in a positive light and as a force of good in their lives and therefore he is a part of their pride.

@@michaelmelton3246 I am a Christian myself I am also disabled and and a cancer survivor. What makes it easier to get up everyday and rejoice with a smile on my face is the fact that every day is a new opportunity to attempt to see the world through God's eyes. Thank you for your reply. Keep letting your light shine.
Meg and Amy were the cutest pair of lions I have ever seen. RIP beautiful Amy.
“Let me know if you guys have heard of Kevin Richardson” 🤦😂
This had me on tears 😭
Lions to me are the most majestic and charismatic creatures on the planet.
If I had the chance to do what Kevin has done, I would take it in a heartbeat.
I've had the opportunity to play with cubs in the past and that was awesome, wresting with 5 of them, hopefully I may get the chance to play with bigger version before I depart this world
@Andrew Brace - Definitely the most majestic and charismatic!
Never ever pet cubs otherwise you're dooming them to their deaths in canned hunting farms! Kevin always talks about these things & condemns the act.
@@jtalbot34 He condemns the people duping the public into thinking the establishments that do this are raising them for other purposes than canned hunting and the like. Kevins white lion Thor (called Charlie in movie) was in a movie Kevin was part of with some of the lions from his preserve . (different ages) Only recently watched it and it was surprisingly wonderfully acted, disturbing and touching. (mention because it goes into the subject of tourists industry , hunters, etc...but very well done in my book)
I would never do this with a bear. Now ppl have done this with bears they keep as pets. But have never seen someone do this with a wild bear. Don’t think that would go as well as this video. Bears do not have a pack mentality. So don’t think it would happen.
@@elisemiller13 And that is why he is spreading the word to people. He does want to STOP PEOPLE from petting cubs for photos or going on walks with young lions. If people stop doing it, then there will no longer be a need to have cubs for petting!
"You will never find anyone like this man"
Me "how abt that guy called dean.. the lion whisperer..???"
I found him. He and Kevin both are cool
There's another fellow by the name of Dean Schneider who does a similar thing. Even hangs out while they're killing and eating.
Love Kevin and his dedication. He's the modern St. Francis...
"thanks for sharing with me topics that I wouldn't have stumbled upon myself."
Me: Oh, looks like you haven't met the RUclips algorithm.
I’ve been watching Kevin’s videos for a while now. It’s definitely an interesting YT channel.
Fun Fact: a group of lions with two or more males that are related is called a coalition
❤️ KEVIN RICHARDSON human Ambassador for lions he has taken good care of his animals in his sanctuary spreading awareness to the plight of lions in South Africa ❤️
I have been watch his videos for as long as I can remember (bc lions are my favourite animal) 🦁
i subscribed to his channel about a week ago it s amazing . makes my day. great guy so much effort with these lions and others
Sadly, Amy (one of the two cubs they introduced) died last year. I have been following Kevin's channel since 2017. The content is very interesting and hard to stop watching.
I love his show!! He has such a good connection with the lions
I'm on the fence over keeping any animal in any cage, but we have to do it sometimes in order to save a specie.
I've seen a video with him within a fresh kill. He was right in there he had blood on him within a few feet of the feeding lions. More man than i
These shows rarely tell the whole story.
I love Kevin, have been following him for years! (: Love his devotion and respect.
What a privilege to be able to sit amongst these magnificent animals.
Wow I am amazed. How does he do that! I have seen lions in real life that is incredible.
This man liiterally walks around the wild with the king of beasts.
If you or I did this with the same lions we would likely die.
kevin has raised these animals in captivity since they all were cubs
OH YEAH IVE SEEN HIM AWHILE BACK IT IS AMAZING, there is a hyena that he has that when he is whith Kevin he will taunt the lions lol
Amazing guy Kevin he has such a unique gift and love of his animals beautiful to watch 💓
Kevin's love of the lions under his care is only surpassed by the tremendous respect he has for them. He is truly a blessed man who has dedicated his life to these amazing earth wanderers.
Great reaction, I was reacting the same way. You won't see me getting anywhere near those beasts but I do like what he is doing with them 😂😂😂
"What the hick?" lol
Wow to get the trust of wild Animal like a lion must be magical. To find that pation amazing. Great man Kevin.
MOST of these lions were HAND RAISED by Kevin...he is a member of the pride...but, they are STILL wild animals👍🌴
Like Kevin dean schinder also have same feelings with lion and he also have a lion pride in hakuna mipaka
In one interview dean said that Kevin was his inspiration
That was imcredible
The South African Steve Irwin is definitely Dingo Dinkleman, he is a NUT and so funny.
Kevin is awesome. Watch when he takes the Lions/etc for a walk out of their large enclosers. Kevin knows each Lion's personality. Lions. Leopards. Hyenas. Cheetahs. Love is awesome Kevin gets from his family.
Seeing these lions with a person gets me teary eye 🥲
I love that man! He's The bomb!
I love his Lions!!!
awesome video court. love kevin. been watching him for about a yeah. he is an amazing guy
This man is living the most beautiful life possible.
I feel sad for you.....because it’s 2020 and you don’t know the lion whisperer 😢😢😢
He is crazy brave! He has a guardian angel with him. I love all animals, but I am not this brave. Great video. My brother found this video and sent it to me t watch. I subscribed so maybe my husband will see it. Thanks for sharing.
That moment when you realize those lions show him more affection than my fucking domesticated house cat shows me.
Never abuse any animal cause they have feelings to plus I am 13 years only
These are his lions in his sanctuary. They are not lions in the wild.
Yes love watching him with these big kitties they love him ❤
Meg is happy, Meg is healthy, Meg is safe and loved. That's all the matters
Honestly he’s the only one out there that helps them, Kevin is a nice guy and the rest are only in it for money
Dean Schneider.
Dean s not like Kevin....
Kevin has a better mission....Dean has an ego
@@humaidhannooman4902 you are a million percent right, Kevin does it to help plus once they have died the journey isn’t over for him or the land while the other guy does it for his own wants I think
10:53 He grabs the lion's tongue, WHAT?!?!
GoPro did a video on this, it’s by far the best one imo
If you liked what you see with Kev, please to go his channel & subscribe. If you can, donate monthly to help him in his work and benefit the Reserve. I hope many will go to The Lion Whisper page and tell your friends. The more awareness the better it is for OUR lions!! Thanks!
1:49 Idk about New Zealand, but ironic that a woman with those long nails would get scared at even the chance of a lion jumping on a human to kill him, when at least here in the US they would do the same with a man's heart.
No compassion.
I've seen him in a video with a pride at an actual kill site. He was bloody and right in there when they were eating..... to close for me
There was a man who had a similar relationship with bears in Alaska. He was eventually eaten by them
Yeah, that guy didn't raise his grizzlies.
