loafers with a suit is not a classic look, if anything loafers were not worn with a suit because they're too casual for that and some of the stylings you showed with dark suits and light loafers are doubly jarring. Loafers are worn with odd jacket stylings.
While it's true that loafers are a casual dress shoe style, they can still be worn with suits. The acceptance of this combination is more about the evolving nature of menswear and the softening of dress codes than it is about loafers being formal. As always, context is key: the formality of the event, the specific style of the loafer, and local cultural norms will all influence whether or not this pairing is seen as appropriate.
@@suitsexpert I never said they can't be worn, it's not like there's a physical force stopping you, people wear minimal sneakers with suits, I do sometimes, all I said was, loafers with a suit, not a classical look. You're right, of course, there's levels of formality and multiple styles, colors and materials, but to my eye, and I might be conservative here but I just find it hard to imagine a harmonious suit and loafers look, I find it easier to pull off minimalist sneakers with a suit than loafers and I never wear them with a suit but it might be possible, thinking about it now I remember seeing a Japanese guy somewhere in a black linen suit and black suede loafers and he looked great, but that doesn't mean I can pull off a black linen suit, let alone with black suede loafers.
