AS OF NOVEMBER 27TH 2017, THIS SYSTEM IS AWESOME. WORKS PERFECTLY. EZ TO CHANGE FILTERS ON THE WATER. ALWAYS KEEP SPARES ON BOAT, THEY'RE CHEAP. BUY A 1/2 DOZEN. AND YOU'RE SO GOOD. (I had water in my old RACORS filling with water because of this: ruclips.net/video/cPGfwQQ1EFs/видео.html
Capt Dave, I bought a MARPAC QWICK VIEW System and it works fine except for one small issue - theres a fuel leak from the upper seal or cup seal and I cannot figure out why - any ideas? Have pumped too much gas into it via the bulb maybe ? Looking for the OEM contact is hard but I believe MARPAC is the inhouse brand for Donovan Marine.
Mine's working fine always has you're correct it's the Donovan Marines brand I'm sure you've checked all the seals to make sure they're not crimped or torn anything like that look up Donovan call the head office
📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌UPDATE📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌YEARS LATER, NOW. AND STILL USING AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MARPAC CLEAR VUE AND PUT IT ON MY AMAZON TOOLS OF THE TRADE PAGE: www.amazon.com/shop/captdavessportfishingcharters/list/2X3LG6S3ZZSVH 📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌
There are lots of misconceptions about ethanol going around. One of the "features" of ethanol is to allow gas to absorb some water and dissolve it. In northern climates, we would add methanol or ethanol (whichever was cheapest) to the gas to remove water condensation in the fuel tank in winter. If left unchecked, that water would get in the gas line, freeze and block the fuel flow. The problem with ethanol is that it allows fuel producers to get away with rather inferior blends. It also tends to melt certain plastics that were used in older engines.
no idea, i think that only can happen in diesel......B-U-T, I did talk to a customer service sales person at Donovan Marine, (the marpac brand) and the reason they call this, as i spoke of in video, ''for portable fuel systems'' is that it's a legal way of them saying DO NOT mount inside a hatch, where it could be broken, cracked, etc. and not be seen. Meaning out exposed is where its supposed to go, ''for legal reasons.
hello Dave have not heard from you in a week but it's always good to hear from you and to see your videos I was having an issue with water in my fuel and just by watching you on your tutorial you help me out on what fuel separator that I need Dave I really appreciate that thank you sir . I cannot wait for your views on that fuel separator on the jetty wolf
Hi Capt. Just wondering if I can use the same filter to my Ford Everest 3.2L Diesel engine. Will there be any diesel flow issue in case I will install it before the main filter? Thanks in advance for your reply.
Hey Capt Dave, I recently installed one of these on my Key West with a inboard tank and a 90 hp Mercury, does yours always have the air gap in it? My engine will starve for fuel at high rpms, I can fill the filter up and watch it suck it down to the level yours is in the video and start running rough. Have any thoughts?
If you have a smaller motor (2 stroke 50hps Johnson), Can I still put on a water separation filter? I was considered that it may ruin my water pump because the pump would most likely work harder getting fuel through filter first. Is this a valid concern? Or should I not worry about it and put it on?
HUH? you're really mixed up. water separated from FUEL!! has zero to do with your motor's water pump. a fuel filter in the boat, coming from tank into motor (that probably has a rudimentary fuel filter under the cowling, is never a bad idea.
works like a champ...I glance at it and have not even seen the red ring float yet. Other than that, I'll change out the filter when I change my oil. Every 100 hrs. Since the filters are a 1/4 the price of the Racor.
Dave, Jez I don’t think Marpac or anyone got the memo. I have spent a ridiculous amount of time researching fuel filters and and am now totallly flummoxed by the market offerings. I once went 30 miles out, on portable tanks only to hookup my main which was 10 gal water and 30 gal gas. The inline sight glass looked like a strawberry milkshake even after rerouting the fuel line to skim the gas off the top of the tank. A long day and expensive week, I will not repeat. No number of Fuel/Water can filters would have saved that day. Many don’t realize when you put water in a oil filter style filter it doesn’t come out...ever. You can take it off, dump it out and only fuel and water that has already passed the filter membrane will come out, leaving a completely unknown amount of water outside the filter membrane, which compromises fuel flow on contact with the filter element. Are you still happy with the Marpac Quickview with spigot? It looks to be the best innovation in decades but in the hands of Marpac will likely lead to further confusion. All I can find on Marpac is yoga equipment, white noise machines and meditation aids. And I think I going to need all that.

Your boat is sucking in water from you vent. If your vent points down or straight warpter goes directly into tank.. Vents should point up and you should have a loop that hangs above your vent...most boats come from factory wrong. Some more worse than others.
Water stays in the bottom of the bowl because it is heavier than gasoline .. if the bowl got filled with water it would push water thought he filter and into the engine .. I would put automictic Transmission fluid or engine oil on all the threads and gaskets to make disassembly easier.. I would like to put one of these on a car but with fuel injection the system has about 57 PSI in the fuel line .. not sure if that plastic bowl can handle that kind of pressure..
I know how this works. The reason my RACOR was filling up is I had a hole in my fuel tank. have whole video about tank replacement. The MARPAC, works great! EZ to see, EZ to change and see filter getting dirty. REASON for this video is the MARPAC is a gem, no one ever talks about.
I never did find the same filter you have.. I have a Luberfiner filter housing with plastic bowl that I added to a diesel pickup.. Oldsmobile 5.7 Liter Diesel .. It had a little steel canister filer that you popped into place under and behind the injection pump was very small and was a pain .. So I put a big filter on the fire wall. I want to run E-85 in a hot rod car with fuel injection .. I am afraid 57 PSI may be too much pressure for the plastic filter.. I use filers with plastic bowls on my fuel tanks they use 1" fittings for high volume pump or 3/4" with normal volume pump ..

Capt Dave's Sport Fishing meant to ask, as the package isn’t clear did it come with some kind of fuel resistant thread sealant? If not what did you use on the Barbs?
NO NEED...GAS GOES IN GAS GOES OUT. Simple to change out on the fly. Changed one out while fishing one day. EZ & way cheaper. I keep about 4 on hand at all times, with one in the boat as a spare. Works perfectly. I've recommended it to many a friend.

Thats funny, my Racor filter has a clear bottom so you can see the water and easy drain system. yours must be an older style?
No according to ABYC standards, BUILDERS put solid bottom metal bowls i when the filter system is in a enclosed area.
dankbobby I believe it's a coast guard requirement the bowl must be metal if the filter is below deck. If above deck it can have a plastic bowl.
YEP......IN A HATCH OR BEHIND BULKHEAD i THINK. MY BOAT BUILDER KNOWS THE RULES. NOW, I'M THE BOAT BUILDER!

Big hole Vs the smaller hole shouldn't make a difference. You'll still get plenty of fuel in the smaller hole.
OBVIOUSLY, SHE RUNS LIKE A SCALDED DAWG. But it matters if ya wanna use your Racor head unit and you have the wrong one which Marpac never mentions.
Yeah, some standardization would be nice.
you'd think.....or at least MARPAC should mention it.
Can the small adapter be unscrewed to reveal the larger hole ??
