This is hilarious, so camp, so cheesey, God bless Liberace, he just wanted to entertain, Mary Hopkin looks bored in the Medley but she was 18 and surrounded by the old stars, Eve Arden had that dry almost sarcastic wit, also Matt Monro with his glorious baritone voice, this is another life time.
Absolutely one of the BEST female singers ever So gorgeous 😍 💖 and beautiful never have ever watched a performance of hers not wanting more ?................those were the days my friend would have loved to dance with her just once
She had the best man by her side to write a couple of brilliant songs. But what a brilliant singer she was. Hope she's still singing those lovely tunes.
“Those Were The Days” was a massive hit in the United States. It was Number Two in the US, but it stayed at Number Two for weeks. (Number One was “Hey, Jude.”) Because she recorded it in several languages, it was a worldwide hit. The recording’s staying power is testament to the impact it made. But THE LIBERACE SHOW was made for the UK. It was an ATV series, lasting two seasons starting in 1969. Note that it is in black and white. US network TV was entirely in color then. Liberace, of course, had series at various points in his career. I suspect Eve Arden was either filming something in Britain at this time, or appearing in a West End show.
Morning sun shines on my shoulder. Arrow! Time left the protest..... Return! missing days of the past..... Yesterday and like the street that passed..... Hold up! the time..... Ocean or for my heart..... Passed! on the time! we..... Kiss! like sweetness with her..... Inside the me! yourself..... Newness? Like the bird-songs you hear every morning.
i went to school with a girl called margaret who i thought was the spit of mary hopkin that was over 50 years ago and i still see her now and she is still as nice
Liberace was a wonderful piano player, but this shows he was also a terrific entertainer. I think they all were back in those days, probably because they all came out of Broadway.
No he wasn't. And, to prove it, in 1959 he sued the Daily Mirror (who had hinted that he was) for libel and won the case. He was as butch as the next man. Just rather 'flamboyant'.
I love the song Goodbye. There's something timeless about it. Like it could be a really old folks song.
I have listened to this song for going on 40 years now.
Stunning and beautiful!!

Matt Munro hired my minicab to take him home one day in 1962! Good man and great voice.
there's a contrast between the nationalities.
Wow, not just cheesy, but cheese-tastic! Almost painful to watch, but also hilarious.
Absolutely one of the BEST female singers ever

Thanks for posting! Love hearing it again. It's like hearing it for the firat time again
I had great memories ❣️ from mary hopkin.she is great singer.🌹🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️👍👏
Kudos to Eve Arden for catching the 9th on the last "Days...." chord.
And Mary Hopkins... any description falls short.
Almost cute girl overload. What a great, live performance of Goodbye, with no vocal backup, as was in the recording.
Great song and singer!
Y, slightly different vocal arrangement and overall sped up a bit, but it still works.
Mary Hopkin was exquisite and unique...lovely voice and so pretty....didn't realise she was a star in the USA....and so young....thanks for this...😎

How cool. Eve Arden and Matt Monro, one of my favorite singers. Great segment.
LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU FOR POSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Life was so simple then. 60s and 70s were the best times. Life is so complicated now.
That's why we have the music time machine to trip back on. Climb on the back and go for a ride in the sky
i went to school with a girl called margaret who i thought was the spit of mary hopkin that was over 50 years ago and i still see her now and she is still as nice
Mary was a lovely looking girl as a teenager........I'm sure she still is as a mature woman now.
T Beau Mary is an incredible woman today as well - check out her song "Gold and Silver" recorded just a couple of years ago!

Very good 😌
Lovely legs
Angelic voice
What a babe.

An Icon forever!
Macca and Hoppy sitting in a tree.
Fairly sure "Those were the days" was taken from a Russian folk song or tune.********************************************************************
No wonder Mary developed stage fright and quit the business
I also liked Paul version of Goodbye....
1969
Had to be '69. It looks like a much older clip.
Wow that’s corny canned American Variety Shows at it’s worst. Mary’s beautiful voice proves she didn’t need a recording studio to sound amazing.😁👏🏻
It was actually made in England LOL Liberace made a series there.
