Some may prefer this version, others may prefer the old version.
But there's one thing we all agree: they are both perfect.

Thick of it 50s remix still better than OG tho, aint lying on that one

That opening drum is perfect for a "march to war" context. It's brilliant.

It reminds me a bit of Marching upstream 2, which is also an incredibly good song.

While this remix is "closer" to the quiet tone of the original last stand, i actually prefer the old remix version because it had a more desperate heroic flair to it
    Regardless both are good :)

You're right XD I think i need to rethink my working methode when i do music cover because i over-use the original track as reference. you can play both song simultaneously and it will fit perfectly XD

@@Solstium When I'm looking for a remix for a track, I want it to be as close to the original track as possible with more UMPF. Improved instruments (if possible), maybe some added ambient sounds, better bass and so on. Usually when something is really good like FTL sound track it doesn't need a rework, just a retouch. This is WAY better than the first one you made.

This is great. You struck the perfect balance between synthesized pseudo-instruments (representing space and the general sci-fi theme of FTL) and good old fashioned guitar (representing anger, fear, vastness, and desperation) notwithstanding the emphasis on percussion (that enhances everything I mentioned, building tension, and making the chords really hit). This gives a "grand" feeling to what was otherwise a bland melody. I liked the original, sure, but the original simply did not feel like a boss theme. It was just a guitar following the notes and structure of a boss' theme, but it felt that something was lacking.
You found it. And you fixed it.
Because this feels like a boss theme. It feels like there is something on the line; that there is a looming threat that cannot be touched, a concept, a rebellion whose personification is the single, and ultimately small but paradoxically large ship that stands for that concept of which cannot be touched. Killing the flagship will never kill the rebellion. It may ensure victory. But the rebellion can never truly die. Because at the end of it all, you can never say it was living.

What can I add XD you probably overthink this but Daym your are such a good story teller XD inspiring ! I see that opinions about this track are really diverging and in personally think I can make a heavier version.
Thanks for your feedback ! I can assume you loved that cover XD there will be more !
If you like that style, merging metal riff with futuristic synth, you might check out my soundCloud account "Solstium" I'm posting the OST of my current game project and it fit perfectly that kind of ambiance et music style !

@@Solstium I didn't know you had a soundcloud, but I do now. No doubt I'm gonna be looking forward to what you've done, and what you'll do on there. Merging futuristic synth and metal riff is something I've been attempting to work on in my own work as I feel it is the best of both worlds; I'm sure you know how it is trying to find your own style, and since I think I have something here I'll be using your work as inspiration!
Especially with the way you handled the percussion here because the last time I tried to make my drums more dynamic (beyond the ol' kick, snare, kick, snare routine found in EDM and Pop) I ended up creating jazz. Sure the jazz I made wasn't terrible, but I wasn't trying to make jazz; I was trying to prototype a finale, a vast theme for a vast threat, like what you achieved here. Anyways, point is that your work is very similar to what I'm aspiring to create, so that's why I got a bit excited.
Also, thanks, I am constantly trying to improve my storytelling abilities; making things mystical is very hard to achieve and delivering is even harder, but you must first gather the wood to build the fire, ;) -- I'm saying I should focus on making things sound cool before delivering on their coolness in the climax (get the wood, build the fire). Your timely response made my day a little, I won't lie, and I seriously hope you have a great day, (or night). Keep shredding!

I'm curious to here what you have and will created ^^
Also I have a similar story about making jazz by accident, juste by placing one of my Synth track on the drum track XD it was juste perfect

This gives me major 1980s Soviet Sci-Fi vibes. Kinda reminds me of the OST for "The mystery of the third planet", if you've heard of it

    Holy crap this is awesome.
Currently in an isekai roleplay. I play an Engi who crashlanded with Stealth B.
I'll defo play this for an eventual flagship-tier enemy when the Engi fixes it.

I've recently realized while rewatching Kestrel Adventures that there is a lot of potential for a DND-style roleplaying game in the FTL universe, particularly if the Multiverse mod is involved.
      Also, what is isekai?

    • @CMDRJakob
      @CMDRJakob Год назад +2

Isekai is a genre of manga/anime where the protagonist leaves the familiar, realistic world (usually through death) and is reborn in a fantasy world.

FTL multiverse is a very popular mod ! my cover is not that great and I don't have that much visibility X) it has been made in a couple of hours without huge ambitions XD it sounds great but I am far from being an expert in mixing and mastering compare to video games standards X)

Eh. 1.0 was better. I think there was too much percussion filler during the best parts rather than letting the superior rythm speak for itself from the mouth of an electric.

What can I say. Musical structure was more complex in the first version.
