Jimmy’s original Version of this song took me to a happy place many a times.
Watching this ,Assured me I was not led astray.

Willis Alan Ramsey wrote this song. Buffet wants you to think he did.

Written by my favorite songwriter. Willis Alan Ramsey’s songs are the soundtrack of my life. ❤

Lyrically this song is brilliant, and that's why Jimmy recorded it, being a brilliant songwriter himself. Willis Allan Ramsey is living proof that the greatest artists never become household names.

Plenty of "the greatest artists DO become household names." But it is true that many songwriters don't become household names for various reasons.

Jimmy sounds a lot better in this setting than he does electric with his band on tour.
The singing sounds better than what I've heard him do lately.

As much as I love Jimmy Buffett - and I do love Jimmy - he really doesn't really come close to delivering the lyrics. I saw Willis Alan this summer. He opened the second half of the show with this and it was very, very special. No one moved.

he sings it differently on the JB box set...I like both versions, depending on my mood, although the original gets the nod. What's a motor bank stool pidgeon though? that one stumped me

To answer fearthetube's question below of "What is a motor bank stool pigeon?" A motor bank is an old-timey term for a bank that has drive up windows and ATM's, and so therefore I would venture to guess that Willis meant that he blew through all his checking and savings account by going thru the drive-thru, and withdrawing money all the time.

Are you being facetious? He didn't create this. Not the lyrics, music, not even the cadence. This is Willis Alan Ramsey. From the so titled album, the only one he made. JB stole this and ruined it in this rendition.

Covering songs is not stealing last time I checked derp

Not sure why, but it bothers me that Buffett's name is associated with this song all over the web, with little attribution to the original songwriter, Willis Alan Ramsey. Buffett's version doesn't hold a candle to the original. Not even close.
