Pity that the camping holiday didn't work out too well. We were in Changsha in 2019 and really enjoyed it. We paid 500 yuan per night, for a studi size room-with kitchen, lounge, bedroom and bathroom, plus sauna and swimming pool on another floor. First came across Maan Coffee, which does great waffles and cream, plus salads and pizza etc. Our favourite coffee places in China are Maan coffee, Luckin and Cotti, which is the cheapest.
I'm not sure what was the criteria of 100 millions but china has about 700 millions people who can/do spend minimum $10 per day shopping. It's pretty massive that's why most of the companies are doubling down on china investment despite what's in the media.
So many different cultures and no plastic anywhere! I couldn't tell you were in China! That camping trip under the wind turbines looked second to none, I whish I could perfect redeye as well as you mate! Its just all looks soooooo desirable!
Haha 😂 I wouldn’t dare camping with my Chinese wife, it will be a massive of complains, … cold, not comfortable, mosquitos, noise, bla bla bla … you are brave to do it.
From my experience almost all Hilton garden hotels are very similar room design, we have stayed in 3 or 4 during this road trip, all the same. However I like that, they are clean, good value for money, and you know what you will get on arrival.
Are you going to pay; and she points to the Bank of Mum.... lol... I know that one quite well... a walking cashpoint machine ;) I think on my next trip to China I'm going to make a video about branding and package design in China.
get out!!!! noway!!!! shes driving the frikking car remotely with her frikking mobile phone!!!!!??? that only happens in James Bond and Mission Impossible!!!!
Remember that famous line in the movie "The Graduate"? ... "just one word: plastic." (10:32) Here's one for China: "just one word: SCALE." (18:48) When China catches up with semi-conductor technology, becomes self-sufficient and scales up production, that would be the nightmare for Qualcomm, NVIDIA & Samsung. MIC 2025 is not too far away.
I'm not sure what was the criteria for middle class regarding 100 millions. But from the stats i looked china has about close to 700 millions people who can/do spend $10 per day . And online shopping is even cheaper than stores . This is pretty massive population of spending customers.
@@BarrettYT If you have lived in China for a long time, you know that Chinese people do not speak English and the government does not allow English to be taught in classrooms.
I notice that the foreigners and their Chinese partners in China are very supportive of American and other foreign brands and often steer clear of Chinese brands. Except for Huawei, I suppose that there's no Chinese businesses that you guys like. Ha! It's too bad. I suppose that it's good that you guys even support Huawei because usually the foreigners and their Chinese partners prefer Tesla over Chinese brand EVs.
Actually I support a lot of Chinese brands, usually my go to coffee is Luckin, manner or Cotti, I have a lot of clothing from Anta and li-ning, and I purchased an AITO M5 EV.
OH MY GOD, Bro, I hate being uncomfortable. That shit makes me MISERABLE. Being miserable will really put me in a bad mood - and not for just a little bit, either, I'm gonna be honest - And that's putting it lightly.
Men honestly, China is the best place to live, as a person without degree and a person who is married to a chinese person, i have spent maybe the best time of my life in China, i just dont like it being very risky working as foreigner there without work permit\visa.
Amazing journey to Changsha ! Have a wonderful motor vacation.
Thank you! Will do!
😂
Camping is not for me. I need a hotel room with a bed and bathroom . I give your wife and daughter a lot of love for trying this.😍💙❤️🧡
If the truth be known I also prefer a hotel room. It's the only night we camped on the whole road trip....
I tried camping one time. Not anymore. I need to shower everyday.
I need the Air Conditioning
I don’t like camping either. Creepy insects and noises when you camp out.
Nice one guys. Interesting from start to finish. Great editing.
Thanks mate...
Great informative video 👍 👌
Thanks a lot
I'm salivating! I love Changsha black stinky tofu n have not even eaten d OG. I need to resume annual trips to China. There's so much i haven't seen!
I love camping. I'll go camping as much as i can find time in the spring summer and fall.
Too hot in China to Camp, (at least for me)
I want to go to Changsha. It reminds me of New York City Times Square. Zhangjiajie is incredible.
Looks amazing! I am ready to go
Safe journey, Barrett! 加油👍👍
Thank you

Nice video, HOW long is the road trip.
About 5 weeks in total.
Thanks for sharing.
Welcome to CSC (Changsha City) barrett! It’s my hometown, but now I moved to Shenzhen. Some say, Shenzhen, Hunan people’s Jerusalem.😅
Haha 😂 I wouldn’t dare camping with my Chinese wife, it will be a massive of complains, … cold, not comfortable, mosquitos, noise, bla bla bla … you are brave to do it.
Haha, yeah it was a bit challenging, it took me a while to persuade her in the first place.
My wife is from Hunan province, so I've gotten used to the spiciness of Hunan dishes, which are always best enjoyed with a nice, cold glass of beer.🍺
Camping gets you close to Nature and i agree, we need to do this more often to wind down.
We actually sleep really well at rest stops… there’s something about them that lets us sleep really deep.
A great city!
It’s probably so busy at night because of the heat during the day. I would do the same and sleep during the day. I call it vampire mode.
i love Changsha
39oC all day, all night in mid-August in Changsha😡That was what I remembered more than 30 years ago. That is something Changsha hasn't changed😜
I agree with your wife. I hate camping too🤭
Give me a nice hotel any day
It looks exactly the same room design of Hilton garden as the one i stayed Zhuhai two weeks ago.
From my experience almost all Hilton garden hotels are very similar room design, we have stayed in 3 or 4 during this road trip, all the same. However I like that, they are clean, good value for money, and you know what you will get on arrival.

@Barrett, When did Changsha became the official 5th first tier city ?
ChatGPT and Gemini still say 4 first tier cities without Changsha included.
According to Baidu, it's one of the "New forest tier cities"
Luckily for you, there was no couch for you to be sent to sleep in. Now, once you got back home, different story 😄

Camping requires a nice self contained RV. Tents are for homeless or survival.
spongy ear plugs works for me
Took us 5000 years to get out of the caves, don’t want to go back via “camping”! A nice hotel and bathroom will be good
it depends whether u like nature or not.I like camping, one without even mattress and electricity. Gas stove is ok.
Once in a while experience could remind us of the elements in a reality way。😂

1:52 it's called Chinese donut
💕👍💕👍💕👍💕👍💕👍💕👍💕👍
Then, is Changsha the 5th First Tier City of China ?
Better to be back to civilization. 🙂
You become picky on food,Barret,LOL. That's good for living.
Don't like insects crawling around me. So will have to skip camping.
Shouting yourself hoarse mate, relax 😅
WTF, Starbucks? Luckin is surely the better option
I usually choose Luckin, however Starbucks do a nice coconut oat milk latte, and they have space to work, ofter Luckin have no space to work.
If you are in China, you should learn Chinese because very few Chinese speak English. !
Many, many Chi ese speak English well, no sure why you think they don't.
So true, agree
If you don't learn Chinese, go back to your country.! Get out china
@@BarrettYT @BarrettYT Because Chinese people don't speak English or speak very little.

Why would anyone want to suffer in a tent, in peacetime, and when a hotel is available??? 🤔
Yes, I need a soft bed and air con
So Trump was correct about the wind turbines?!!!! Wee-wee-wee-wee. Or was it Rrrr-rrrrr-rrrr?
It's hard to find a good woman who likes camping 😂
It looks like your lover isn't fit for outdoor living.😀
Lol, I don't think she wants to go again..
Tough time, she needs a room
😍😍😍
Chinese people aren't really big on camping especially women.
Yeah, for sure...
