  • The Cleveland Browns did something that hasn't been done before with Dawand Jones. The Browns pulled off a big win by using Jones in certain situations against a great player. And Dawand Jones absolutely dominated for the Browns. The Cleveland Browns have to absolutely love what they are seeing from Dawand Jones.

    He's hurt , that's why he was only in on obvious pass plays .. Hasn't really practiced in 2 weeks .. He's a beast , and an absolute steal getting him in the 4th round . But credit to him for getting in good shape and showing everybody that passed em up not to question his dedication and love for the game

    He didn’t start because he’s coming off of injury. It’s unorthodox, but they new Hudson couldn’t block Watt on critical plays, so they brought in Jones, even though he wasn’t 100%.
    If Jones was 100%, he would’ve started. He’s been playing this good all season.

    That is insane hit rate for mid-round to late-round picks. We can say what we want about the Watson trade and the results so far have not been good, but when you're able to find guys like Delpit, JOK, Emerson and now Jones outside the first round, you can make up for whatever capital was lost in the Watson swing for the fences. I highlighted all the guys who have a big role in the Browns being 7-3 right now. If you look at other team's drafts, you just do not see 10-12 *starter* level or better players drafted outside the first round on really good teams in a three year span. Doesn't happen.
    Then you have the All-Pro talents he's also finding in middle rounds. Berry is Executive of the Year and I'm not sure it should be close.

      @expensivefreedom 7 месяцев назад +4

      Also look at the Browns track record drafting quarterbacks in the first round.. Isn’t it the obvious move to get a guy who has played at a high level in the NFL already? Sure the price is high, but how many first round picks have we spent since 1999 and still ended up with no QB to show for them? The thought process was 100% solid. The results? Mixed, I’d say, but it was a shot they absolutely had to take. Now they have a few years to develop DTR or another guy before we even have to think about a succession plan for Watson.

    Dawand Jones was my favorite player at Ohio State for the 3 years we had him. To me, he's the embodiment of what it means to be a Buckeye. He was just 3 star, some say 4 but he had his defects. He used to get beat, miss blocks, miss read coverages, and had a few bad habits off the field. Could've easily spent his time at Ohio State on the bench. However, the young man wanted to learn and still does, the young man changed his play style, his technique, his attitude, his lifestyle, his mindset, his everything to be where he is now. Can't be prouder of him and CJ. I appreciate what our WRs are doing and everyone else, but those two were my personal favs, and Dawand, to me, like I said, is the embodiment of what it means to be a Buckeye.

    Kudos to AB. This a HR like Emerson was last year, a bigger one actually and literally. AB ( like all GMs feel I'm sure) was confident he could find players after the first round and he was right. When you have a roster pretty much solidified before the draft you can trade down and stockpile picks. You get multiple 3rd and 4th rounders you gonna get some players. I'm still so elated Baker Mayfield is gone and his departure signaled a culture change. It was time. Mayfield would not fit in with this team at all. We nearly had a parade when the trade happened. It was a trade well worth the risk and it still might workout. Watson is 8-4 over 2 years,5-1 this year. Mayfield has been on 3 teams since leaving here and is 6-14. Picks like this is why in AB we trust. Stefanski for coach of the year. BC of the Watson scandal and the $ and picks involved,AB won't get executive of the year. But for a team besieged by injuries,it shows how deep of a roster he put together. 7-3 in the roughest division in football. Good job💪
