Nice long-term review. Note about the first battery going dead, it's just something that happens with batteries ganged up in series. The first battery in the series always takes more load than the second one. Basically if a single one of those lights comes on, it's time to change both batteries, the first one is more depleted but the second one is very close behind. A trick I sometimes use is at the coffee break I swap the two batteries around so they discharge more evenly once I continue using it after break.
Suggested upgrade for the box lid: glue a couple of framing nail plates onto it with the spikes upwards. That should deter offending sitters or standers. Could velcro them on if non-permanence is preferred.
Regarding the box, what do you think about the locking mechanism? All the Makita boxes I have seem horrible with the locking mechanism. Very hard to align and lock properly.
if you still havent found out- you have to sand down edges for those black plastick parts(around 1mm on each side), then they open and close smoothly. ;)
Awesome to see a review not fresh out of the box. Good job, mate!
Bang on my friend. 3yrs on is about perfect for a review. I was considering getting one...thank you for your review

Phew. Glad it’s comes with a yoke-a-mo-bob. Most manufacturers charge extra for that. ;)
Will this saw cut through 6x2 material at 45 degrees mainly jack rafters ? Thanks
Just about to buy one of these now they are a bargain
